He gave his life for what he believed in.
He gave his life for the truth.
He gave his life for everyone who had lived, lived, and would live in the future.
He gave his life for what was right.
He was assassinated less than eight months later.
Because the Civil Rights movement would end with his death.
Those responsible knew this to be true.
And no one has been like him since.
I can honor his sacrifice by the life I live.
By the goals I accomplish.
By the love in my heart for all.
And by remembering him beyond today.
I have never experienced such hatred.
Such violence. Such division.
Because of the sacrifices so many made.
I am grateful to you all for standing up for us all.
And especially to you, Martin Luther King, Jr.
For leading them all.
Perhaps, one day
I will get to say
Thank you. -ecj
