FADE IN:

EXT. OUTER SPACE – EARTH
In outer space, the sun comes over the edge of the Earth. The Earth is moving slowly as sparkling lights can be seen covering huge land masses.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
The world is changing. Once, humans feared mutants and mutants feared for their lives. Military forces tried to tip the scales and rid the Earth of mutants. The mutant race was on the brink of extinction before Charles Xavier’s X-Men turned the tide.

EXT. THE CONTINENT OF EUROPE – NIGHT
Clouds pass by, buildings are seen across the land mass. Lights illuminate from the windows of several buildings.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
They stood against government agencies’ anti-mutant agendas. Other mutants looked on at their bravery and chose to stand with the X-Men. As more and more mutants came out of hiding and began to fight for their own freedom, the anti-mutant forces became overwhelmed.

EXT. THE CONTINENT OF ASIA – NIGHT
Across Asia, people are walking through the streets, looking like small ants from the sky above.

EXT. THE PACIFIC OCEAN – EVENING
The Pacific Ocean is dark, brooding, as the moonlight reflects off of the water.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
The heads of the anti-mutant organizations lost their jobs and were replaced by mutant-friendly leaders and actual mutants.

EXT. COAST OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA – EVENING
The Pacific Coast Highway is in view.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
The United States, along with other countries around the world, made a law which protects mutants from discrimination, segregation, and oppression around the globe.

EXT. LAS VEGAS, NEVEDA – EVENING
The lights shine bright over Las Vegas, NV.

EXT. COLORADO MOUNTAINS – EVENING
The Colorado mountains are covered with snow, the wind swirling through the area.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
It’s been three years since that time. Mutants live in peace with the rest of the society.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY, NY. – DAY
The glare of the skyline is reflecting on the Hudson River. Human and mutant alike walk throughout the city.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
The Morlocks have been freed from being forced to live underground as well. In a special session of Congress, the law was upheld which allowed mutants to keep the right to vote.

EXT. OUTER SPACE – AVALON
The enormous base slowly orbits the Earth.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (V.O.)
Magneto and the rest of the Brotherhood had been disbanded. Magneto has found a place of solitude, having lost the will to fight. He finally wonders whether I, Professor Charles Xavier, have been right all along.

INT. AVALON – LIVING ROOM
Avalon is massive. Several rooms are spread out in the structure. Large windows throughout the place allow dim natural light to come in from the stars, moon, and sun. In the shadows, MAGNETO stands in tears, next to a table, fumbling over an article in his hands. The room is vast, consisting of metal and asteroid rock. However, it is practically empty, save a couple of large comfortable couches and a few tables about the place. He seems deep in thought.

QUICKSILVER and SCARLET WITCH stand at a distance behind him, signaling at each other to be the next one to speak.

QUICKSILVER
Dad, you should think about coming home?

MAGNETO
This is my home.

SCARLET WITCH
It must be lonely, being up here by yourself all the time.

MAGNETO
I don’t belong anywhere else. I’ve talked to you both about this before.

QUICKSILVER
I don’t want to argue.

MAGNETO
You’ve come to visit your old man? I am glad.

SCARLET WITCH
We want to be a real family again. We want normal lives!

MAGNETO
This is normal life!
(calms himself)
I will never be one of them. You ask too much of me.

Tears fall from Scarlet Witch’s eyes. QuickSilver walks over and puts his arm around her shoulder.

QUICKSILVER
We wanted to see how you’re doing. We still care about you.

MAGNETO
I know. I…

QUICKSILVER
(walks to Magneto)
Look at yourself. You know you need to change with everybody else. It’s time to forgive them, even if they are unforgivable!

Magneto keeps his back towards him.

MAGNETO
Forgive them?

QUICKSILVER
It’s in the past. Those people are dead. Mutants actually have a chance to be normal.

SCARLET WITCH
You can help them, Dad. You can help us have the freedom you fought for without starting a war. It’s the best solution to —

Magneto turns around and holds up his hand.

MAGNETO
Son, daughter, you make me proud. Go. But I cannot go with you.

Magneto feels his emotions stir.

QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch see the few metal objects in the room bending and twisting around them. They look at each other, then hug their father tightly.

Magneto backs away, turns, and floats to another level in Avalon.

Scarlet Witch looks up after him.

SCARLET WITCH
The elections are next week. You have the opportunity to vote.

QUICKSILVER
This guy seems like he genuinely cares about us. We haven’t been able to tell if he’s a mutant or not, but people are wondering.

SCARLET WITCH
Your presence there, voting, would make a difference. Think about it.

QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch begin to walk away.

INT. AVALON – ELEVATOR
QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch head for the elevator and take it down to the Ground Level.

QUICKSILVER
I wonder if he’ll come.

SCARLET WITCH
I’ve never been able to read him very well. He might. There’s always a chance, right?

QUICKSILVER
Yeah. Getting him outta this metal rock would be a start.

SCARLET WITCH
As long as he knows where we stand, maybe that’ll help.

QUICKSILVER
Like it always has?!

SCARLET WITCH
Pietro, come on! You have to help me! Stay positive. Alright?

QUICKSILVER
Yeah, I got you.

The elevator door opens. The head for the Teleport Machine.

INT. QUICKSILVER’S RESIDENCE – DAY
The machine teleports them to QuickSilver’s den in Europe.

They head for the foyer.

EXT. QUICKSILVER’S RESIDENCE – NIGHT

SCARLET WITCH
See ya ‘round, big brother?

QUICKSILVER
Unlikely.

They laugh, then hug each other.

QUICKSILVER (CONT’D)
Maybe I’ll come to see you this weekend, Wanda.

SCARLET WITCH
Are you finally getting a car?

QUICKSILVER
Ha! With gas prices these days, insurance? For what?!

SCARLET WITCH
Had to try.

Scarlet Witch drives off in a stylish convertible sports car across the countryside surrounded by mountains.

INT. NEW YORK CITY DINER – DAY
The wind is swirling between the tall buildings of New York. SCOTT SUMMERS and JEAN GREY are reflecting over cups of coffee on stools at the front counter.

CYCLOPS
I can’t believe it. I just…can’t. Can you?

JEAN GREY
No! Two years! It’s practically a miracle.

CYCLOPS
We never thought about the day we wouldn’t have to fight anymore. I don’t think it crossed our minds.

JEAN GREY
And now —

CYCLOPS
— I get to see your beautiful face at lunch time everyday.

JEAN GREY
(smile)
I love you Scott.

CYCLOPS
I love you too, Mrs. Summers. Oh! —

The Diner’s owner comes from the kitchen.

OWNER
— Hey, isn’t the honeymoon over yet, lovebirds?!

CYCLOPS
Sorry —

JEAN GREY
(laughing)
— I think it just hit him though. Gosh, look at the time!

Scott and Jean get up from their stools.

CYCLOPS
I wanted to watch the sunset with you this evening.

JEAN GREY
I know! Well, hey, I’ll work it out, okay. Call me to make sure.

CYCLOPS
I will tell Sam to let you go. Don’t make me come up there!

JEAN GREY
Oh, Scott.

Jean begins to walk away.

CYCLOPS
I see how he looks at you, too! I’ve got my eye on him!

JEAN GREY
You’re a comedian.

Scott turns his attention to their left over cups.

CYCLOPS
(laughs)
Hey Louis, lemme get the bill.

OWNER
For you, it’s on the house.

JEAN GREY
No, not again —

CYCLOPS
— We couldn’t.

OWNER
Are you serious? Wasn’t for you guys, my business would’ve burned to the ground! Take off. And remember, we’re having the special tomorrow, cherry pie. Mom’s own recipe, you don’t wanna miss that!

CYCLOPS
Oh, I won’t. It’s the best!

Scott and Jean head for the door.

JEAN GREY
You and pie.
(looks back)
Bye, Louis!

OWNER
Tomorrow!

EXT. NEW YORK CITY DINER – DAY
As Jean and Cyclops walk out of the diner’s door, Jean feels awkward.

JEAN GREY
Whoa…

CYCLOPS
What’s wrong? Jean —

JEAN GREY
— I, um. Whew! I’m fine. You should really stop worrying about me so much, sweetie.

CYCLOPS
Hm. I’ll ask Professor Xavier to check on you if —

JEAN GREY
— Scott, we’ve talked about this. I’m not a child, okay. If something’s wrong, I can handle it.

CYCLOPS
I know! It’s, I only want to be with one person, Jean. No one else. No one can replace you. Okay?

Jean calms down and begins to notice some people’s glances.

JEAN GREY
I’m sorry. I, Why don’t we just go now? I guess I need the break, anyway.

CYCLOPS
Jean, you’re a strong woman. That’s one of the things I love about you. You can take care of yourself and you don’t need me all the time. But, I don’t mind protecting the love of my life.

JEAN GREY
You always know how to say the right things. Ahhh, what are you doing?!

Scott picks up Jean Grey, carries her across the street towards her work place. They both laugh.

CYCLOPS
Don’t worry, Mrs. Summers, I’ll take you to safety!

JEAN GREY
Scott, no, stop!

Cars slow down, people passing by stop to look. They began to clap, people in cars honk their horns, cheering. Scott puts Jean down on the other side of the road. Her face is red from embarrassment.

JEAN GREY (CONT’D)
You are so silly!

They kiss. The crowd reacts.

PASSER-BYERS
Get a room!

Jean hurries in, gets her belongings, comes back out. She and Scott walk arm in arm as they walk to the water.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY HARBOR – EVENING
Scott Summers and Jean Grey are holding each other, watching the sunset, hair blowing in the wind. No war, no stress, no mission to save the world. Just a normal, peaceful day.

EXT. CANADA – WOOD CABIN – 5:00 A.M.
In a sparse forest, near a beautiful lake, a dim light flickers inside a cabin.

INT. WOOD CABIN – BEDROOM
An alarm clock buzzes annoyingly at the strike of 5 a.m. Three blades of adamantium steel claws slice through it like butter into a wooden night stand.

LOGAN, rarely going by WOLVERINE anymore, sits up drowsily, but intently. Gathers his thoughts and jumps from the bed.

BATHROOM
Brushing his teeth, washing up.

BEDROOM
He puts on some comfortable clothes, jeans, shirt, and jacket, he heads out the door.

EXT. WOOD CABIN LAWN
Hops on his motorcycle and takes off down an empty highway.

EXT. CANADIAN MOUNTAINSIDE – MORNING
Emerging in the snowy mountains, beginning of sunrise. Logan sits in the snow overlooking the valley covered in white. Eyes closed, he hears a sound, but knew BOBBY DRAKE, the ICEMAN, was already there.

WOLVERINE
Came to check on me?

ICEMAN
I wanted to know how you’re holding up. You need to talk or…

WOLVERINE
Nothing to talk about.

ICEMAN
Look, man, I know we aren’t best friends, but I’ve fought with you long enough to care.

Logan gets up, fighting emotions, not knowing what to say.

Iceman walks next to him as they look over the cliff.

ICEMAN (CONT’D)
Almost outta wood, huh?

WOLVERINE
Yeah.

ICEMAN
I’m off to the Arctic. The coolest snow is out there.

WOLVERINE
There’s a difference to you?

ICEMAN
‘Course!
(pause)
I do carry my phone, you know.

WOLVERINE
You miss it too, huh?

Iceman walks to the edge of the cliff, looking over the valley.

ICEMAN
I don’t miss fighting, no! But, well, you guys are like family now. I didn’t realize —

WOLVERINE
— You were a part of a family. I know. I’m always ready for the fight though.

ICEMAN
(laughing)
Yeah, we busted up some Sentinels in our time. I ice ‘em, you dice ‘em.

WOLVERINE
(smile)
You had skill, I’ll give you that.

ICEMAN
Well, I gotta go, man. The ice is calling me.

Iceman walks off.

WOLVERINE
Hey.

ICEMAN
Yeah?

WOLVERINE
How about a few practice shots before you go?

ICEMAN
I don’t know, Logan. It’s been a while since you’ve felt the heat.

WOLVERINE
Bring it on, bub.

ICEMAN
Whatever.

Iceman walks a good distance away. His hands light up as he creates sharp ice cycles.

ICEMAN (CONT’D)
One fast ball coming up.

He fires ice cycles at Wolverine, which Logan dodges and cuts with his claws into pieces.

ICEMAN (CONT’D)
Not bad for an ol’ man!

Iceman fires a beam of ice and Logan leaps out of the way. Seeing Logan bear down on him, Iceman turns his hands into ice picks, swiping at Logan.

Logan cuts them away; Iceman creates an ice piece which juts out of the ground; Logan steps back, leaping…flipping backwards landing on his feet.

The two trade several swipes and kicks at each other. As Wolverine’s claws come at his face, Iceman shoots a beam of ice directly below him, propelling him into the air. Wolverine gives him a smile as Iceman backflips out of the move landing on his feet.

ICEMAN (CONT’D)
Not bad at all.

WOLVERINE
Learned some new moves?

ICEMAN
My powers seem to be growing, I don’t know. I’m going to the Arctic to check ‘em out, see what else I can do.

An awkward pause floats in the air, Iceman walks up to him.

WOLVERINE
Thanks for the stretch. I needed it.

ICEMAN
Stretch?! Okay. Um, take care Logan.

They shake hands.

ICEMAN (CONT’D)
(laughing)
Let’s not do that again sometime, I don’t want you to kill me.

Wolverine nods with a small smile. Iceman makes an ice slide as he jumps off the cliff and Wolverine calls to him.

WOLVERINE
Hey, Bobby!

ICEMAN
Yo?!

Wolverine gives a short wave.

ICEMAN (CONT’D)
Don’t mention it. Be Cool!

Iceman takes off on his ice slide across the valley.

EXT. GERMANY – CHURCH – NIGHT
Lights illuminate from the interior of a large church in Germany.

INT. CHURCH LIVING SPACE
In a rather nice den, NIGHTCRAWLER (KURT WAGNER), ROGUE (ANNA MARIE), and GAMBIT (REMY LEBEAU) are having a chat with Kurt acting as the host.

NIGHTCRAWLER
You will love this, Anna, my favorite dessert and tea.

ROGUE
I had a great time, Kurt. You were amazing. The whole show was great!

NIGHTCRAWLER
I’m so pleased you enjoyed yourself. I was surprised by your visit.

Gambit walks into the kitchen area.

GAMBIT
I’ve never seen a high-flying act like that. Looks dangerous, even to me!

NIGHTCRAWLER
Ack! It’s nothing. I rather enjoy it! Some of the best times of my life are found in my performances.

ROGUE
It’s better now that it’s all over, right? I mean, the X-Men aren’t even together anymore.

Gambit comes back in the den.

GAMBIT
Best vacation we’ve ever had, huh chere?!

ROGUE
Remy…!

NIGHTCRAWLER
Come. Sit. I actually have a television.

LIVING ROOM
Nightcrawler flips through the channels and they all sit in a living room area, illuminated by a beautiful fireplace. They sit back and listen to the telecast on a European news station. The TV Host speaks with two guests.

GUEST
I think this is all mere speculation. You have no proof. The inspectors themselves, found no evidence of an anti-mutant program. The U.N.’s investigation came up with nothing —

GUEST #2
— That’s because some of the U.N. investigators are involved!

GUEST
The treaty has been signed! The Brotherhood has not been seen in over a year! And no one knows where Magneto is, some people say he’s dead!

Guest #2 sits up in his chair as he looks into his own camera.

GUEST #2
This is the quiet before the storm. They want you to think this war is over, but it isn’t. It’s only a matter of time before mutants try to take over the entire planet. They’re numbers are growing astronomically and some scientists believe Mother Nature is evolving more humans into mutants sooner than anyone could have predicted!

The Guest stays calm as he looks into his own camera.

GUEST
There is no threat. These “scientists” are coming up with their own theories to cause fear in the general public. Do we want to keep the peace or not?

GUEST #2
Peace will only be a reality when humans take back control of this planet. I feel this is the beginning of a new age. Mutants will rule the planet, take over through this system of democracy,
“our” democracy, unless we stop them.

The Host finally hears in his ear-piece that the time of this segment is up.

HOST
Gentlemen, gentlemen, we’re out of time. Thank you both for appearing on the broadcast tonight. Very interesting subject. What do you think as citizens of the world? Are mutants trying to take over or are they simply trying to be accepted like everyone else? Send in your answers to our blog and we’ll post some of your responses in our next broadcast. Thank you, and good night.

Nightcrawler turns off the television.

ROGUE
There’s only a few of them, Kurt. Most people aren’t like him anymore.

GAMBIT
I agree with Anna. I can actually walk downtown without a disguise and not get harassed! People ask for my autograph!

Nightcrawler gets up and walks towards the end of the room.

Rogue turns on the couch. Gambit’s stare follows Kurt from a single couch.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I know. It must be exhilarating to walk among other human beings unafraid. The anti-mutant laws are not legal anymore. However…

ROGUE
What?

NIGHTCRAWLER
This man, along with a few others, still believes the worst of us. They publicly admit it despite the unpopularity of their beliefs. How can they be so bold against so many?
(pause)
I wonder if they have someone helping them.

GAMBIT
Backing them up?

NIGHTCRAWLER
Yes.

ROGUE
Who would do that?! Everybody’s been investigated!

NIGHTCRAWLER
I am not sure.

Gambit puts a hand up. Nightcrawler faces them.

GAMBIT
Don’t over-react. I need a little more vacation.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I’m sorry friends. I do not mean to disturb you —

ROGUE
— No, it’s just, it’s not like we can check it out like we used to.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Exactly.

An awkward silence in the room.

GAMBIT
Let me guess. You wanna talk with the Professor, heh?

NIGHTCRAWLER
I don’t want to alarm him. Not unless I have proof.

ROGUE
This is a gut feeling?

NIGHTCRAWLER
As you would see it.

GAMBIT
Great.

ROGUE
Great.

NIGHTCRAWLER (CONT’D)
(a faint smile)
You two have been together for a while. They smile and briefly gaze into each other’s eyes.

ROGUE
Hey, you should come with us!

NIGHTCRAWLER
I am not prepared to —

GAMBIT
— Kurt, you brought it up. Let’s go, eh? The quicker I get this off my mind, the quicker I go back to vacation.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Very well.

They prepare to leave for the United States.

INT. RUSSIA – UNDERGROUND FACILITY
In dim lighting, GENERAL WINSTROM walks down a long corridor made of steel with a shiny grey floor. He comes to a steel door.

SCIENCE LAB
There are scientists, doctors, in white long coats, going over information on clipboards. The General walks up to one of the lead SCIENTIST.

GENERAL WINSTROM
How much time?

SCIENTIST
Hours. We are almost completed with “Phase Two” of the process.

GENERAL WINSTROM
Anymore setbacks?

SCIENTIST
No sir. We have completely realigned his cables and integrated them into the new system. A light blue glow covers the General’s face as he walks passed the Scientist.

GENERAL WINSTROM
Excellent.

SCIENTIST
We’re prepping for the final stage in the process. We have to be sure he can withstand anything throw at him, literally.

GENERAL WINSTROM
Can you create more?

SCIENTIST
No, sir. Unfortunately, we still haven’t been able to duplicate the process on another subject. The technology is too unstable. The General walks next to a glass case with frozen ice on its surface, staring at what the container holds.

GENERAL WINSTROM
We will have our revenge. They will suffer for what they did to us. To all of us!

SCIENTIST
Sir, your grandfather would be proud.

GENERAL WINSTROM
(tears well up in his eyes)
Do what must be done. There can be no failures this time. The General walks off and the Scientist quickly and intently resumes his work. He gathers the group of scientists.

SCIENTIST
Gentlemen, this is our finest hour. Let us begin our legacy here.

INT. NEWS BROADCAST – NIGHT

TONY RICHARDS and TIM MICHAELSON watch a news broadcast is on in an office.

HOST
In a stunning turn of events, Republican Senator-Elect Tony Richards and Democrat Senator-Elect Tim Michaelson both lost to a man not officially on the ballot. That is correct ladies and gentlemen, in overwhelming numbers voters “wrotein” John Donaby, a popular spokesperson for the mutant community who declined from running in this election. Officials are now scrambling to figure out if they can award a seat to a citizen who hasn’t actually ran for the office –

RICHARDS
(turns off the television)
— How could this happen?!

MICHAELSON
It’s out of our hands.

RICHARDS
“Our” hands?! This is “our” country Michaelson! Not theirs! We built this country from the ground up, shedding our blood on the battlefields! Now they want to tell us how we’re going to run it?!

MICHAELSON
We don’t have many options left.

RICHARDS
No! I will not be backed into a corner by a bunch of animals pretending to be humans!

MICHAELSON
Jim Steinberg lost. Macullum lost. Grenich lost. Horner lost. They all stood their ground and now they’re out of office. France. Germany. Russia. The Middle East.

Tony Richards turns away, reluctant to surrender to the truth.

RICHARDS
Alright —

MICHAELSON
— You have to back off, at least for now, until we can find a better solution for —

RICHARDS
— Kill Xavier.

MICHAELSON
Tony, we —

RICHARDS
— Kill McCoy!

MICHAELSON
It’s not —

RICHARDS
— Who do we have to kill in order to get our country back?!

Tim Michaelson is fed up with the discussion.

MICHAELSON
It’s too late! There are too many of them. We don’t even know how many of them there are and where they could live. We don’t know who to trust anymore. If we leak information to the wrong source, they’ll come after us, Tony.

RICHARDS
Arrest us?!

MICHAELSON
Put on trial for hate crimes
against the mutant race. It’s
practically a law now.

RICHARDS
The vote hasn’t taken place yet.

MICHAELSON
Look at the news. Every trial case. The judges are on the other side now. It’s too late. Everyone wants to keep their jobs.

RICHARDS
I will not sit idly by and watch this world fall into the hands of…

Tony Richards clings to his last hope.

RICHARDS
Get Johnson on the phone.

MICHAELSON
But Tony —

RICHARDS
— Now.

INT. JOHNSON HOME – NIGHT

In a small, quiet town in the suburbs, SHAWN JOHNSON is
speaking on the telephone to Tim Michaelson, a secured line,
in the basement of his house.

SHAWN JOHNSON
I hear you have another job for me. I actually expected this call sooner.

MICHAELSON
We didn’t think, I didn’t believe it would come to this.

SHAWN JOHNSON
I told you! I told you over a year ago that this was coming and you completely ignored me! Now look at what’s going on.

MICHAELSON
I know, I know! I’m sorry Mr. Johnson.

SHAWN JOHNSON
You’re sorry?

MICHAELSON
I don’t know how you do it. I just know you’re the best. Are you sure you can help us?

SHAWN JOHNSON
Please, do not insult me. I’ve done my job well for the passed 10 years without a hint of evidence. I have never failed a mission and I will not let this one be the first. Transfer the payment into my account.

MICHAELSON
I imagine you’re going to be a wealthy man once this is all over.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Wealth? I simply enjoy killing mutants and these Benedict Arnolds who support them. Getting paid for it is icing on the cake.

MICHAELSON
Fine. And Mr. Johnson…

SHAWN JOHNSON
Yes?

MICHAELSON
Good hunting.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Always.

Shawn Johnson hangs up the phone and turns to see his wife,

HEATHER JOHNSON, waiting with anticipation for the news.

SHAWN JOHNSON
We have another job.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Finally. I was getting bored.

SHAWN JOHNSON
I have new gear for you. A wall slides to the left to reveal armor, weapons, including swords and energy shields. Heather Johnson looks over all of the new gear.

HEATHER JOHNSON
One of the reasons I love you so much. You know what I like.

SHAWN JOHNSON
(gives a rare smile)
This armor’s been upgraded. It will link into your neuro-system. Your mind can adjust the shields to charge any weaknesses in the metal caused by damage. The weapon fires an energy pulse —

HEATHER JOHNSON
— How long will they be helpless?

SHAWN JOHNSON
A full five seconds longer ”and” it’s a few pounds lighter. No ammunition packs needed.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Perfect. It’s not my birthday, is it?

Shawn completely ignores her remark, though Heather has grown use to thinking out loud more than talking to him.

SHAWN JOHNSON
New sword. Closest metal we could find to adamantium. In order to compensate, we’ve charged it with a similar energy pulse used in the hand weapons.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Nice..!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Be careful with that. When charged, it’s actually sharp enough to pierce your own armor.

HEATHER JOHNSON
What?!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Yes.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Where did you find this metal?

SHAWN JOHNSON
Do not ask.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Shawn?!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Heather, it’s classified. There are
some questions even I don’t ask.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Don’t lie to me.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Here. A shield. They won’t know what hit ‘em.

Heather is finally annoyed by his lack of direct responses to her questions, but becomes distracted by the new toy.

EXT. X-MANSION FRONT DOOR – DAY
Rogue rings the door bell as Nightcrawler and Gambit stand close by. It opens automatically. PROFESSOR CHARLES XAVIER approaches in a new gold-tone wheelchair hovering off the ground. He can’t hide the huge smile on his face.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
My goodness, look at you all!

ROGUE
Hi, Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
A pleasure to see you again, Anna, to see you all.

GAMBIT
Home sure looks bigger than it used to.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Of course, Remy, you spent less time here than the others.

GAMBIT
I guess I’m just a wild card, eh?

INT. X-MANSION FOYER – DAY

The Professor backs away allowing the trio to come inside.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Greetings, Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Kurt, this is a surprise! I heard you returned to your high-flying
events.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Yes, I suppose I missed the stage more than I realized.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
That face you make, what’s wrong?

NIGHTCRAWLER
Well…

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I rarely have to read your mind to know when something’s troubling you, Kurt.

Gambit walks between them heading towards the living room.

GAMBIT
I hope it’s nothing.

ROGUE
We wanted to ask you about the elections, Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Ah yes, I’ve been following them very carefully. It seems the tide has steadily changed in our favor. Professor Xavier turns following Gambit down the hall towards the living room.

LIVING ROOM

GAMBIT
It’s good news to me.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
But…

GAMBIT
Kurt’s worried ‘bout a secret plan to take us all out again.

ROGUE
We don’t have any proof.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I’m sorry, my friends. Maybe, the “peace” is hard for even me to accept.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Indeed. Most of our lives we have fought and sacrificed for the good of humans and mutants alike. Today is a new day. Through democracy, not bloodshed, mutants are taking their rightful place in society.

ROGUE
Any chance someone could really tear it all apart?!

GAMBIT
Better not be.

Gambit crashes on the couch. Rogue stands attentive in front of the Professor as Nightcrawler drifts around the room.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Unfortunately, there’s always a chance. Although we have made great progress, it only takes one event to make things worse than they’ve ever been before.

NIGHTCRAWLER
This is what I fear, Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I know, Kurt, but we must not give up hope. Besides, I finally realize, we can’t fight forever. There has to be an absolute end to this conflict. One side has to win.

GAMBIT
Look, I would rather do something now than wait ‘round for somethin’ to happen. If there’s a chance the elections will be postponed because of some attack, we need to stop whoever’s behind it “before” they strike!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Agreed, Remy. However, the X-Men have been more closely watched by the government for the passed five years. If we move first, we will be blamed for any consequences that follow.

GAMBIT
Knew that was coming. Rogue begins to circle the floor.

ROGUE
So, what are we supposed to do? Where do we even start to look?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Kurt, what’s on your mind?

Nightcrawler continues to look out of a window, putting his thoughts together.

NIGHTCRAWLER
If there is a threat, they have to have ways not to be discovered by U.N. Inspectors. Cloaking devices of some kind to hide their weapons, the technology needed to achieve such feats —

PROFESSOR XAVIER
— In Europe?

NIGHTCRAWLER
Yes, maybe in other countries as well. This is a worldwide problem, Professor Xavier. Even if weknow where to look first, we
wouldn’t have the power to stop
them by now.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
These are your true feelings?

NIGHTCRAWLER
Yes. I’m sorry.

Professor Xavier glides his wheelchair to the window, staring outside, looking at the beauty of the world. Rogue and Gambit become more concerned at his silence.

ROGUE
I don’t wanna fight anymore! We don’t wanna fight!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I’m not suggesting we will have to.

GAMBIT
All of this “peace” can’t be a lie. Is that what you’re saying?!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I’ll contact Ororo first. She is the furthest away.

ROGUE
She went back home?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
To Africa, yes. Have her join us here at the mansion. We must discuss this together, as a family. Gambit slams back on the couch.

GAMBIT
I don’t believe this.

Professor Xavier turns and heads back towards the foyer.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Make yourselves comfortable.

ROGUE
Cerebro?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
No…

Professor Xavier pushes a button on the chair panel. A door slides open, revealing several dials. He pushes one, it flashes and the light fades away.

Gambit walks over to Nightcrawler’s side, whom is staring out a window.

GAMBIT
You’d better be wrong about this, Kurt. You’d better be wrong and we won’t have to go back to the way things used to be.

Nightcrawler stays silent.

INT. NEW YORK CONDO – EVENING

Scott Summers is pacing the bedroom carpet in a tank shirt and some shorts. An unsure, almost distressed, look on his face as he talks to Jean, who is still in the bathroom.

CYCLOPS
I know something is wrong. But you’re not telling me. Whatever it is, I can handle it.

JEAN GREY
(from the restroom)
Scott, it’s okay. I know.

Scott walks to the master bathroom door.

CYCLOPS
Then talk to me. Don’t shut me out.
(pause)
What is it?

Silence. Cyclops walks away from the door and stands next to the bed, not knowing what to say next. Jean opens the bathroom door, stands in the entrance, Scott’s back is to her.

JEAN GREY
Scott, I know what’s wrong with me.

Cyclops turns to look at her. Jean holds up a pregnancy test and begins to cry. Cyclops freezes in place.

JEAN GREY (CONT’D)
I’m pregnant.

CYCLOPS
You’re..?

JEAN GREY
Yes.

CYCLOPS
We’re..?

JEAN GREY
Yes…

Cyclops’ knees buckled for a moment. He rushes to Jean, picks her up, turning in the middle of the floor as they kiss, laugh, and cry, letting out screams of joy.

CYCLOPS
A baby!

Suddenly, a familiar BEEPING sound is heard, they both stop, motionless.

JEAN GREY
The emergency comm-link signal.

CYCLOPS
It can’t be. It better not be!

They stand in silence as the red light under the black “X” flashes. This happened when the X-Men were called upon to fight.

CYCLOPS
(whisper)
No.

JEAN GREY
(whisper)
No.

EXT. X-MANSION – EVENING

In the clouds, suddenly a silver figure flies by at a great speed. The wind blows, pushing her along. ORORO MUNROE, also know as STORM, descends to the front lawn. She walks up and rings the door bell.

ROGUE
Hey, Ororo! How’ve you been?!

They hug on the porch.

STORM
Anna! Amazing. I have so many stories to tell you!
(looks over to Gambit)
Remy, you’re here!
(pause)
What’s wrong?

GAMBIT
“Nothing” I hope.

INT. X-MANSION FOYER – EVENING

Storm enters as Gambit comes forward.

STORM
Come here, give me a hug.
(hug)
I haven’t seen you in so long.
You’re taking care of Anna, right?

GAMBIT
She’s keeping me outta trouble.

ROGUE
He’s been here. It’s been better since…

STORM
Since we split up.

ROGUE
Yeah.

Storm puts her hand on Rogue’s shoulder.

STORM
We had to carry that responsibility. Otherwise, the day would not have come.

ROGUE
Kurt came with us!

STORM
Where is he?!

Nightcrawler enters the room and the group slowly makes their way out of the foyer.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Greetings, Ororo.

STORM
How have you been?

NIGHTCRAWLER
Very well.

STORM
I planned to see you on your next opening!

NIGHTCRAWLER
Ah yes, that would be wonderful!

STORM
I’m hoping there’s no real “emergency.”

NIGHTCRAWLER
No. I cannot say that there is.

STORM
Then why the —

PROFESSOR XAVIER
— I need to speak with everyone as soon as possible.

Storm freezes as she sees Professor Xavier, then walks to him. They hug for a while.

STORM
Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
You are..?

STORM
I’m fine.
(pause)
There’s no emergency?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
No. There “is” something I need to bring to your attention and get feedback from as many X-Men as I can.

STORM
What about?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Nathan and Lucas are in the field. They can’t make it. Hopefully the others will be here by tomorrow night. For now, rest, relax. I actually thought they would arrive before you got here.

STORM
It has been a while.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Yes. It has.

GAMBIT
We’re having dinner together, like ol’ times?

They head for the kitchen area.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Precisely. I think it would be the best environment to have this conversation.

INT. VOTING REGULATIONS HQ – WASHINGTON D.C. – NIGHT

The government official, ALLAN ROSENBURG, in charge of voting and election booth procedures, is a mutant. He can handle himself in a battle. Few dare approach him because he intimidates everyone. The enemies who have fought him before have all lost or perished. However, he is seen as a threat to politicians because voter fraud is at an all-time low. No one can cheat themselves into power. Not anymore.

His secretary, KIM NADAR, gives him any assistance he needs. They take the long walk down the corridor to the front entrance.

KIM NADAR
Well, I hope you have a good night, Mr. Rosenburg.

ROSENBURG
Kim, thanks for all your hard work. You’re keeping them honest.

KIM NADAR
Ha! Me? Don’t be modest, sir.

ROSENBURG
Oh, remind me to call the Mayor in the morning. His district is vital to our cause.
(pause)
We should have enough votes out there in our favor this time around.

KIM NADAR
Yes, sir.

ROSENBURG
You never got an answer did you?

KIM NADAR
He said he was busy, about five times.

ROSENBURG
Are you implying that he doesn’t support mutants?

KIM NADAR
No sir, I’m simply saying… Anything else before I go?

Rosenbrg stops at the entrance and stares at Kim Nadar for a moment. Her eyes quickly look away.

ROSENBURG
No. I’ll keep an eye on him, okay. Good night.

KIM NADAR
Good night.

EXT. VOTING REGULATIONS HQ – WASHINGTON D.C. – NIGHT
Allan Rosenburg walks down the building’s steps to meet his limousine driver, JEFF.

JEFF
Long night, Mr. Rosenburg?

ROSENBURG
It’s crunch-time, gotta make sure every vote counts.
(gets in the car)
Thanks, Jeff.

EXT. WASHINGTON D.C. STREET – NIGHT
The limousine travels down the street towards Rosenburg’s home. Rosenburg lives quite a ways from HQ.

INT. LIMOUSINE – NIGHT

In the middle of the trip, Allan is looking over his paperwork from his brief case.

ROSENBURG
Wow, we’re going to need more financing for the election. At this rate, early voting will eclipse any record the nation’s ever had.
(sigh)
Kim’s not going to like this,
(gets out his cell phone)
but we need another request written, asap.

Rosenburg speed dials Kim Nadar. The cell phone shows “no signal.” He looks out the window to see he’s not going through a tunnel.

ROSENBURG
Jeff, my phone’s not working.

JEFF
I don’t like to talk about my son, Mr. Rosenburg.

ROSENBURG
Your son? I know, you told me. My phone doesn’t work.

JEFF
He was only going to the corner store like I asked him to. I forgot the milk while I was at the grocery store.

ROSENBURG
Jeff, you told me this.

JEFF
He wasn’t killed by a thief, not an ordinary thief. The mutants got into a fight, brought it to the street. Right in front of my boy, my only son.

Allan knows where he is going with this.

ROSENBURG
Revenge is not the —

JEFF
— He didn’t die because some man shot him. He died because some blast hit the side of the building. Debris fell on my son. He was crushed.

ROSENBURG
I’m sorry Jeff, but —

JEFF
— You know, regular people are bad enough. I worry about my daughter meeting the wrong guy. But mutants, if mutants weren’t around, the world would be a lot safer. Don’t you think so?

Rosenburg sits up, finally forgetting about his phone.

ROSENBURG
We are people! We’re people just like everybody else! Now stop the car!

JEFF
Don’t tell me you’re just like us. Come on. We can’t shoot beams outta our hands or fly across town. We don’t have any special powers. We’re human. If we were all human beings, Mr. Rosenburg, my son would be alive. He would be alive today.

ROSENBURG
Jeff, listen to me —

JEFF
— What do you do? Huh? You have some super strength or whatever? I couldn’t kill you if I wanted to, it’s like, you can take whatever firepower I’m used to using.

ROSENBURG
You know this, but you’re trying to threaten me?

JEFF
Me, threaten you?
(laughs)
That is too funny! I do like your sense of humor.

ROSENBURG
Then, where are we going with this?

JEFF
Oh! You got the threatening part right. But, I’m not the one who’s gonna threaten you.

ROSENBURG
Who, then?

JEFF
You’ll see.

ROSENBURG
Enough.

Allan Rosenburg’s body CHARGES UP briefly and he punches the window of the limousine. However, the window does not break. A strange electrical charge flashes across the window. Allan punches at the door only to see the same results.

JEFF
Is there a “problem,” Mr. Rosenburg?

Rosenburg looks at his hands, then at the doors, windows.

JEFF (CONT’D)
Still in here, huh? Wow. I would feel threatened now if I were you.

ROSENBURG
Jeff, you’re making a terrible mistake.

EXT. CORPORATE BUILDING – NIGHT
The limousine pulls into a parking garage. The lights go dim. The limo drives onto a platform elevator.

INT. LIMOUSINE

Jeff turns around in his seat and holds a picture up to Rosenburg.

JEFF
Look at him.

Rosenburg looks up.

JEFF
Look at him!

Rosenburg slides to the front of the seat to see a picture of Jeff’s son as a teenager.

JEFF
He was a bright kid. Planned to go to college.

Jeff begins to cry.

ROSENBURG
I’m sorry, Jeff. Look at me. I’m sorry, I didn’t want all of this to happen.

JEFF
I want you to remember his face.
(pause)
Remember!

Jeff continues to cry as he exits the limo, closing the door behind him.

INT. CORPORATE BUILDING – UNDERGROUND

Although the platform should lift the car up, the car begins to lower on the platform until it disappears and is replaced by another metal platform foundation. The lights in the building flash back on to full power. The building is empty and “normal.”

INT. LIMOUSINE

Rosenburg tries to open the doors again, but still, only flashes of some sort of energy field glow at every punch. He can’t see what’s around him, it’s completely dark, no noise save the hum of the platform dropping. The speed of the platform descent begins to increase and he guesses it has to be far below the surface. The platform comes to a stop. He sees faint lights in the distance. The place has the look of an underground stronghold. He decides, if he stays in the car, he will be dead anyway. He tries the door again to find it opens, absent of the energy field. Rosenburg’s eyes dart left and right for signs of anyone, anything. He sees square concrete beams from ground to ceiling.

Tears flowed from his eyes, he knows if they have the technology to negate the force of his strength to break a window, they have the technology to kill him.

EXT. UNDERGROUND FACILITY
He chooses to face death, wiping the tears from his eyes. He gets out of the limousine, walks a few paces away and stands there, waiting. In the distance, Allan Rosenburg sees a faint glow of green
light coming towards him. As his eyes adjust, he sees men, armed with weapons unfamiliar to him. They wear masks. Some carried guns, while others carry swords and shields. There are about a dozen of them that begin to surround him with the limousine blocking a few of them.

Four of them take out cables, electrified by some type of energy, the same energy of the car’s interior shield. It is clear, they want to capture and kill him. Rosenburg closes his eyes, his body changes and begins to glow into a shiny, charged metal. The GUARDS press a button on the outside forearm of their suits. The armor charges up. Shawn Johnson, unrevealed, steps forward.

SHAWN JOHNSON
You knew it would come to this, Mr. Rosenburg.

ROSENBURG
We don’t have to fight anymore. This war doesn’t have to continue.

GUARDS
It won’t.

At that, Rosenburg FIRES a beam of ENERGY at this Guard. He quickly and easily dashes out of the way. Some guards FIRE at Rosenburg with ENERGY PULSES, which sting him momentarily. Rosenburg lunges at them, but they move quickly away, STRIKING his head as he goes by. Allan BLAST a circular beam out in all directions. While some have shields to block it with, the rest are knocked backward off there feet. He grabs two of them before they can react and throws them into the concrete beams. They are knocked unconscious.

Cables wrap around Allan’s arm and leg, then a SHOCK of energy strikes him through the cables. He blanks out for a moment, then sees a Guard coming at him with a sword. He throws the two Guards back; SHOTS come at him which he dodges. He SHOOTS a beam back in their direction and catches a Guard by the hand before the sword can pierce him. He SHOOTS this Guard back down the vacant area.

More shots FIRED at him. As they sting him more and more he leaps for the limousine, picks it up on one end and tosses it at some of the Guards. As the limo flies towards them, Rosenburg SHOOTS the gas tank. The LIMOUSINE EXPLODES. Suddenly, he feels a sharp pain in his back. One of the Guards sliced a cut through his armor with the edge of a shield.

He screams and lets out a huge BURST of “energy” knocking out the dim lights in the building. Emergency lights turn on, but only light up the area in a few spots. Rosenburg jumps to the next level of beams in the ceiling, looking around, trying to see a faint glow of “light green” light. Nothing.

Cables grab his feet, pulling him down swiftly; SHOTS hit him from all sides, he is losing consciousness. He hits the ground, FIRING beams of energy of his own, striking opponents on all sides.

Shawn Johnson rushes him, swinging and kicking away. As Rosenburg tries to dodge his blows, he counters with his own, knocking Johnson’s helmet away revealing his face. Allan sidesteps a cable launched at him, blocks a SHOT FIRED at him with his own, but Johnson ejects an energy sword from his forearm attachment and strikes it through Rosenburg’s stomach with a yell. Allan FIRES another huge charge of energy, but to no avail.

There stood Shawn Johnson, with a smile on his face. Johnson ejects another sword from his left forearm attachment, thrusting it into Rosenburg’s side with another yell. Shawn rams Allan into a concrete beam, then throws him back across the room. Allan slides into the wall in agony. Under an emergency light, Shawn and another Guard with a shield, Heather Johnson, stand over him. Allan looks up, his blood flowing to the ground, to see his driver, Jeff, kneeling down to him with the picture of his son held up to his face.

JEFF
Remember.

ROSENBURG
You’re making… a… mis…take… don’t…

Rosenburg gave his energy a last CHARGE.

Shawn’s suit lights up, his armored hand begins to glow lighter and lighter. Shawn lets out a CONCUSSION BLAST from his hand, killing Allan Rosenburg.

Allan lets out a scream. He is gone.

The emergency lights in the area begin to shut off until the place is pitch black again.

INT. X-MANSION – DINING ROOM – NIGHT

The X-Men are laughing, making jokes, and holding their own individual conversations with one another, but listening to the entire group at the same time. A long brown table in the middle of the room, candles, two turkeys, the table is covered with food and dishes from different cultures. Bobby takes the floor, re-telling a story of a battle between the X-Men and Sentinels.

At the table sits Professor Charles Xavier, HANK MCCOY (BEAST), Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Ororo Munroe, Bobby Drake, Anna Marie, Remy LeBeau, Logan, Kurt Wagner, WARREN WORTHINGTON III (ARCHANGEL), KITTY PRIDE (SHADOWCAT), PIOTR RASPUTIN (COLOSSUS), BETSY BRADDOCK (PSYLOCKE), and JUBILATION LEE (JUBILEE).

ICEMAN
No, no wait! I’m the one who had him and Logan thought I was taking too long to destroy him! He jumps off the top of the building and rips the back of the Sentinel apart —

WOLVERINE
— I didn’t feel like taking the elevator.

Everyone laughs.

ICEMAN
I’m like, man, are you totally crazy? You’re out of your mind!

WOLVERINE
No big deal —

ICEMAN
I could have frozen you, I was taking him down!

WOLVERINE
No… big… deal… —

COLOSSUS
— I would throw Logan into Sentinels, he was so anxious!

ROGUE
You were having too much fun to be in a battle.

WOLVERINE
I was trying to get loose. I’m not the only one.

EVERYONE
OOOoooo.

CYCLOPS
Ororo swept the Sentinels up in a tornado.

Everyone laughing.

GAMBIT
Anna knocks ‘em outta the park!

Everyone laughing.

ARCHANGEL
Kurt learned how to teleport a Sentinel into the air and I’d catch it by surprise.

JUBILEE
That would make me laugh the most!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Another excellent advancement in Teamwork.

Everyone laughing.

KITTY
Are these the good ol’ days or what?

The room quieted. They all looked around at each other.

JEAN GREY
No, we figured out how to get along though, through the fighting.

BEAST
Yes, in light of our past, our present is treasured that much more.

PSYLOCKE
Although I do get bored of the “normal” life…
(a few laughs)
you are all my family. I’m glad to have you in my life.

Everyone climes in agreeing.

STORM
We are wondering why we’re all here.

Silence.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I feel a terrible sadness, that I may have spoken too soon.

KITTY
Is there a problem?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I’m sure some, if not all of you, watch the news from wherever you are in the world. There was a man on an International newscast a few days ago that publicly stood up against mutants, which hasn’t been done in this venue for quite some time.

There is some shifting of uneasiness around the table.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (CONT’D)
Kurt came to me with his concerns on the matter, but we have no legitimate reason to believe a threat is rising against mutants. In all honesty, I’m rather surprised at the amount of peace we are witnessing around the world. For a few months, it was some sort of a miracle. But now, as the mutant population grows beyond all expectations, we are beginning to become the dominant species on the planet.

ROGUE
So, it is true?

BEAST
Scientists used to believe mutation was a disease, which originated from different viruses. Today, more scientists are mutants. They’ve began to educate people about the real origin of the X-gene, absent of any bias opinion.

The tension in the room lessens.

CYCLOPS
I think, over time, people began to see that the X-Men stood for what was right. Not only for mutants, but people in general. We earned their trust. I want to keep their trust, Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
So do I, Scott.

ICEMAN
Then, this “emergency” signal just pushed our family reunion?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I pray this is true.

WOLVERINE
(to Professor Xavier)
If somethin’s eatin’ at ya, let us know.

NIGHTCRAWLER
The boldness this man spoke with alarmed me. The people he represents are hidden, but he is the voice for someone —

WOLVERINE
(to Nightcrawler)
— And we need to know who and if they can really tear the peace apart again.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Yes.

COLOSSUS
Wait, surely they have investigators at the U.N. to handle such a problem. They must be looking into it as we speak!

JEAN GREY
Not if someone from the U.N. is covering it up.

PSYLOCKE
Who would benefit from any of this in the U.N.? It doesn’t make sense!

JUBILEE
Oh, I can’t believe we’re talking about this!

Silence.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
You have all moved forward to live your own lives and I am proud of how you’ve turned out. You have made an impact on the world like few can. I… I can’t ask you to become X-Men again. The choice is yours. I want this to be the last mission because… we cannot fight forever.

Silence.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Anyone.

Silence.

ICEMAN
(bouncing up from his chair)
I’ve had it. I’m not doing this anymore. This is it. I’m done.

PSYLOCKE
I agree. I miss you all, but I… I almost died quite a few times for people I barely knew. I want to keep my own life now.

JUBILEE
I really, really don’t wanna let you down, Professor. I just…

COLOSSUS
(rises up from the table)
I am staying the night, but I will go home in the morning.

Colossus puts his emergency comm-link on the table and leaves the room. Wolverine and Cyclops stand up, place their commlinks on the table. The rest of the X-Men do the same, save Nightcrawler, and walk into the living room with together. Cyclops stays by Professor Xavier’s side, but walks to the wall.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I cannot say that I am angry with them, Professor Xavier. I am very sorry. I am…

Nightcrawler puts down his comm-link and walks away.

Professor Xavier, at the head of the table, goes to a window, staring out at the landscape, thinking, wondering what to do next. Cyclops walks over to him.

CYCLOPS
Professor, there has to be an end.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Yes, but we must be certain this is–

CYCLOPS
— Will we ever be certain?
(pause)
Will we?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
We have to be sure, Scott.

CYCLOPS
Jean is pregnant!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Jean is…

CYCLOPS
This has to end, now.

Scott Summers leaves the room to join the other X-Men in the living room. Xavier turns to look out of another window, deep in thought.

LIVING ROOM

Professor Xavier hovers into the living room where all the X-Men sit around together, but apart. They all stand and look at him, waiting for him to say something.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I will remember your sacrifices, your bravery, your perseverance. I didn’t say “thank you” enough for the countless hours you put in, training, sparing, studying, watching over the world that dismissed you. I thank you, X-Men, you are all like my children. But you’ve grown-up into adults, fully capable of leading yourselves in the right direction.

Silence.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I agree with you all. It is time to cease the battle. If a war is going to be fought, we will not be on the frontlines. It is time to let others continue what we’ve started.
(pause)
Your work is finished.

With that said, he puts his own comm-link signal on an end table and hovers to a window, staring out, wondering what will happen next. The X-Men walk towards him, he turns to them, they all hug, some crying, all relieved that this is the end of the X-Men.

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD – NIGHT

Two teenagers, SARAH JOHNSON and JUSTIN WARE, are walking down the street with their bicycles.

SARAH
I had so much fun tonight.

JUSTIN
Me too. I was…

SARAH
What?

JUSTIN
Kinda scared you were gonna turn me down.

SARAH
Well, I’m glad you asked anyway.

EXT. JUSTIN’S HOME – NIGHT

They arrive at the Ware household.

SARAH
I’ll see you later?

JUSTIN
I’m supposed to walk “you” home.

SARAH
You know better than that. My dad would freak.

JUSTIN
I know, I know. I’m just saying, I want to.

SARAH
Thanks. Bye.

Sarah walks off.

JUSTIN
Tomorrow?!

SARAH
Well, I can’t really…

JUSTIN
Oh.

SARAH
I don’t mean, it’s not you, it’s just, my dad, he —

JUSTIN
— No, I understand.

SARAH
Justin —

— Justin’s mom, MRS. WARE, opens the front door as Justin takes his bike through the yard.

MRS. WARE
Hey, Sarah!

SARAH
Hi, Mrs. Ware!
(pause)
Um, I got him home safe.

JUSTIN
What?!

MRS. WARE
(laughing)
Thank you, dear.

JUSTIN
Mom?! Please don’t encourage her.

MRS. WARE
Have a good night, sweety. Tell your folks I said “Hi.”

SARAH
I will.

MRS. WARE
You’ll be alright going home by yourself?!

Sarah continues to walk off.

SARAH
Yeah, I’m fine, thanks! Good night!

MRS. WARE
Good night!

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD

Back on her bicycle, Sarah begins to ride back home.

SARAH
(sigh)
I can’t believe this. I’m gonna lose the only guy I’ve ever really liked ‘cause my dad is —

— Suddenly, she begins to feel awkward, so much so she nearly falls to the side. She walks for a little ways, with her bicycle at her side. Now, on the side of a road, street lights illuminate the area
showing the haze in the air, Sarah knows “something” is wrong. Her stomach begins to churn; she feels “something” running through her veins; her heart feels like it’s moving a
hundred miles per hour. A faint glow shows through her rib cage.

SARAH
Oh my gosh! What’s..?!

The wind swirls around her, dust is kicked up into the air. Her skin begins to change color, dark grey spots spreading beneath the surface of her skin.

SARAH
No, no, no! This can’t be happening!

She grabs her bike and starts to run into the woods.

WOODS

Suddenly, electrical currents are moving from within her to her bike handles. She lets out a scream for a moment, then catches herself, running deeper into the woods. In the distance, she can see houses, lights turning on inside. She stays low, being as quiet as she can be. But the “energy” flowing through her veins is getting stronger, she feels like she’s going to explode. To her surprise, her veins in her arms began to illuminate ever so faintly. Sarah starts to cry, because she knows.

SARAH
(whispers)
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. No, no, don’t do this. Not to me. Not to me!

Beams from flashlights are in the distance. Sarah knows she has to leave, get home as soon as she can. But “home” may not be the best place to go now for Sarah Johnson. Without a word, she grabs her bike and runs through the woods, trying to keep a level head and see through her tears.

JOHNSON HOME

To the back of her house now, she stays low as she puts her bicycle in the garage. She hears her father inside talking on the telephone.

INT. JOHNSON HOME – LIVING ROOM

Shawn Johnson is in the middle of a phone conversation.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Yeah, I know. I’m looking at the news right now.
(pause)
No, no, this is far from over. Trust me. The plans we’ve come up with have already been set in motion.
(pause)
Well, we saw it coming.
(pause)
Look!
(pause)
Don’t worry about it okay. I know what I’m doing. We’re capable of doing the job well, that’s why you hired us. I gotta go.

Hangs up the cell phone.

Sarah rushes upstairs.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Honey, come here for a sec. I want you to see this.

No Answer.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah.
(long pause)
Sarah!

SARAH
I can’t talk right now, Dad! I’m… I’m busy!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah, you know good and well I don’t play games.

Shawn Johnson heads upstairs.

HALLWAY

Shawn stands in front of the bathroom door.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Open the door.

SARAH
I —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— Open the door.

Door opens.

SHAWN JOHNSON
What’s going on?

SARAH
Nothing.
(long pause)
I’m fine.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Where’s Justin?

SARAH
Dad, no! He got home first, I came home by myself.
(pause)
His mom says “Hi”.

SHAWN JOHNSON
(sigh)
Sarah, we live here because we have to live here. It’s a great cover. You know how important my job is —

SARAH
— I know, I —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— And if anyone wants to get to me, they’ll try to harm you. You should be grateful I let you go out tonight.

SARAH
I am! Dad, I’m fine!

SHAWN JOHNSON
You’ve been crying, haven’t you?

SARAH
I —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— What happened?

SARAH
Nothing!
(pause)
I… I’m sorry —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— Were you harassed by a mutant, Sarah?

SARAH
(sigh)
No.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Don’t give me that tone. I will have my men protect you if they have to.

SARAH
Dad —

Shawn’s cell phone rings.

SHAWN JOHNSON
— I have to take this call. I’m going to check on your little friend, too.

SARAH
He didn’t —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— This conversation is over! Good night.

Shawn Johnson goes downstairs, talking on the phone rather quietly.

BATHROOM
Sarah closes the door and looks into the bathroom mirror. No signs of illumination or the dark grey blemishes under her skin. She seems perfectly normal. But the moment is gone. She feels currents of energy through her veins, she tries not to panic this time. She has seen the signs before, but through other people.

SARAH
Oh no, I’m… I’m a mutant. My dad, my… dad is going to kill me.

At the thought, all the lights in the house flicker, electricity-like currents flow over Sarah’s body, but she feels no pain, only life, power, freedom. She falls to the floor, not knowing what was going to happen next.

Her father is at the bathroom door again.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah, open the door.

The lights flicker again, a rush of electricity could be heard throughout the house. Sarah is crying.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah, open this door, right now.

Silence.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Open it, or I’m coming in!

She gets up, looks into mirror. Beams of violet, electricity-like currents randomly move over her skin before she feels it settle down again. A familiar knock at the door, her father, she opens the door to see her father.

SARAH
Ah!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah, I have to explain something to you.

Sarah stares in disbelief, as her father, head of the FREEDOM force against the mutant race, stands in the doorway in another form. His skin is extremely dark purple, almost black. His eyes are illuminating a white light with a hint of violet. She recognizes the electric-like currents randomly flowing across his skin. She lets out another scream, then holds her hand over her mouth. Her mother comes to the doorway, in normal form.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Sarah, honey, it’s okay.

SARAH
It’s okay? It’s okay?! You guys are mutants and you’re the ones trying to kill them all! How is that —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— Enough!

His body returns back to its human form.

SHAWN JOHNSON
I didn’t want this to happen. I was hoping it didn’t happen. It’s that “gene.”

SARAH
Mom, you’re a mu —

HEATHER JOHNSON
— No. I’m not. We knew what the odds were. We didn’t want to have any children, but you came and we
couldn’t just… We wanted to keep you.

SARAH
Now look at me, what am I?!

SHAWN JOHNSON
You’re our daughter!

Sarah backs away from the bathroom door, tears coming from her eyes.

SARAH
Are you gonna kill me?

Silence.

SARAH (CONT’D)
You have to. It’s what you do, what you’ve always done!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah, we’re not going to kill you. But, we clearly have a problem on our hands now.

SARAH
You are the problem —

— The literal GLARE from her father’s eyes stopped Sarah from finishing her thought.

A knock at the door.

SHAWN JOHNSON
It’s late. We will finish this discussion in the morning. I have work to do, setup for tomorrow.

Shawn Johnson abruptly turns and heads downstairs. Heather Johnson reaches out for her daughter.

LIVING ROOM

Consoling the neighbors about the brief power outage, Shawn sends everyone home. BILL, a long time neighbor, decides to add a final thought.

BILL
(waving a beer bottle around)
You know what I think.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Yes?

BILL
One of those mutants must be living around here —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— Bill.

BILL
— I know it! Whenever weird stuff starts happening, it’s a mutant around somewhere! —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— I have to go now, Billy —

BILL
— When I find ‘em, I’m turning them in, every last one of them. I’ll help you look for them, you know.

SHAWN JOHNSON
A nice gesture, but there’s nothing to worry about. Good night.

BILL
Uhh, yes sir, good night.

Shawn closes the door.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Why do you put up with him? He knows too much!

SHAWN JOHNSON
He doesn’t know anything and if he said something about us, the mutants would’ve been here by now. Besides, civilians aren’t as easy to get rid of.

HEATHER JOHNSON
What are we going to do about Sarah?

SHAWN JOHNSON
SSShhh.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Shawn.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Hm. Something I didn’t want to plan for. Keep her away from Xavier. The other mutants shouldn’t be a threat.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Is that enough?
(pause)
Is it?

Silence.

INT. RUSSIAN UNDERGROUND FACILITY – NIGHT

The room is dark, faint light around the place, just enough to illuminate the metal skin of Colossus. His eyes have a faint glow to them. Nightcrawler is in the area, looking around from a higher
position, clinging against the wall. Colossus senses for any kind of radiation or something suspicious. He comes to an area with containers, the covers are made of glass, with a bit of frost on the inside and surface. But they aren’t activated, they are empty.

The place has been kept up, but nothing looks like it’s been in use. Nightcrawler teleports to different rooms, all seem kept up, but empty. Not recently in use. Last, he hangs from a small beam on the ceiling, upside down, looking over Colossus’ head. He lands upright, shaking his head to say, “nothing suspicious has been found.” Colossus pauses, with an uneasy feeling in his gut, but without proof, any charges against the Russian government will be dismissed.

An angry frown comes over his metal face, he turns back to Nightcrawler who dismissed his own frustrations. Nightcrawler puts his hand on Colossus’ shoulder and they teleport out of the facility.

INT. NEW YORK CONDO – BEDROOM – NIGHT

Cyclops and Jean Grey lay in bed in the middle of the night. Cyclops holds Jean in his arms, but she is not facing him. They both wonder if the other is falling asleep, but neither of them can sleep. They’ve been laying there awake for almost two hours. Eyes open, staring into “space” disgusted by the reason why they can’t sleep. Finally, they want to break the silence.

JEAN GREY
I know.

CYCLOPS
I can’t do this anymore.

JEAN GREY
Me either.

CYCLOPS
I don’t want to lead people into anymore battles.

JEAN GREY
I don’t want you to.

CYCLOPS
I want a family, a life of my own.

JEAN GREY
So do I.
CYCLOPS
You’re pregnant!
(pause)
I’m going to be a father.
(pause)
I can’t risk my life like I used to, I have to be here for the baby.

JEAN GREY
So, why are we still awake?

Cyclops lets go of Jean, turns over, slams his arm on a pillow and sits up on the edge of the bed.

CYCLOPS
Because, I’m an X-Man.

INT. WASHINGTON D.C. – OFFICE SUITE – NIGHT

PRESIDENT-ELECT JIM SLADE sits around with his staff, including STEVE BECK, STAN WEAVER, and his girlfriend, JESSICA MILLER. They watch TV tracking the progress of early ballot voting.

SLADE
(drink in hand)
We look pretty good, gentlemen.

STEVE
We still want to be cautious, Mr. Slade. These numbers could shift, depending on how many voters will wait until election day to cast their vote.

SLADE
You worry too much, Steve. We’ve seen the trend already! My opponent has an unpopular stand against mutants and the people who support them. He’s tried to hide it and the public isn’t buying it. The truth actually works sometimes!

STEVE
I know, sir. I’m simply saying, this isn’t over.

SLADE
It will be in a couple of days.

Jessica waves him off.

JESSICA
Don’t mind him, Steve. He just wants to hide his nerves. He’s as anxious as the rest of us.

SLADE
I have a right to be anxious. I feel like I’ve waited all of my life for this. And here it is, two days away.
(they kiss)
(to Steve)
Come on, we’ve still got work to do.

STEVE
(big grin)
Yes, sir!

FOYER AREA

As Jim Slade and Steve Beck walk towards the door, the Secretary, Kim Nadar, walks in.

KIM NADAR
Excuse me, Mr. Slade, have you seen Mr. Rosenburg?

SLADE
Kim, hi. I talked to him the night before last. He’s swamped. I don’t want to interrupt the terrific job he’s doing.

KIM NADAR
I haven’t been able to get a hold of him.

STEVE
Really?
(pause)
Come to think of it, he hasn’t called me in a while. That’s not like him.

SLADE
Yes, well, we’ve all been so busy, running around, tying loose ends. You’re concerned?

KIM NADAR
“Very” concerned sir! I don’t understand why he hasn’t called. No text message or e-mails. It’s not like him at all.

Silence.

STEVE
Do you think we should call the police, sir?

SLADE
(pause)
No. Not yet.

KIM NADAR
But sir —

SLADE
— If we tell the public Rosenburg is missing, there will be a panic. No one would come to the polls, not in the numbers we need.

They think for a moment.

STEVE
I can call Xavier.

SLADE
No, not this time. The government is keeping tabs on them. Any move they make will let everyone else know something’s wrong. We have to keep this quiet.

STEVE
How?

SLADE
Get our own people on this. Now. We have less than 48 hours to get to the bottom of this.

Jessica gets up off the couch as she notices the conference going on longer than usual.

JESSICA
Is something wrong?

SLADE
No, honey. We just need to hammer more details out.

JESSICA
What’s wrong?
(to Kim)
Kim…

KIM NADAR
I just…

SLADE
(to Jessica)
Honey, please, I need to talk to my staff right now.

JESSICA
No! No, you are not pushing me out right now. I told you we are in this together ‘til the end.

SLADE
I know, I know, but I need time to —

JESSICA
— It’s going to come back to me anyway and you know it. So, tell me now.

STAN
(comes over)
Hey, what’s up?

Now they all notice the room has quieted, everyone has turned to look at them. Jim Slade knows he has to say something, but not “everything.”

SLADE
Everybody, Kim has brought a situation to my attention.

STAN
What “situation”?

SLADE
(holds his hand up)
Please, I am going to take care of this my way. And we’ll resume with all the planned events, nothing has changed. Everybody understand?

Everyone voices their approval.

STAN
So, you’re saying, everything’s okay?

SLADE
(pause)
Yes.

Jim Slade, Jessica Miller, Steve Beck, and Kim Nadar walk out the door.

OFFICE AREA

Stan Weaver comes to the group including DENISE COLEMAN, TYLER WILLIAMS, KENT TAYLOR, and JOAN CARTER, still huddled near the TV.

STAN
Something bad has happened, I know it. He’s not telling us.

DENISE COLEMAN
They’d postpone the election and we’d lose too many voters.

STAN
I think we should call Charles Xavier.

TYLER WILLIAMS
You can’t be serious! You don’t even know what’s going on, “if”
anything!

KENT
Jim had that look on his face, Kim as well. I know them well enough to know this is big. But what?

STAN
I wonder if Allan knows anything about this.

DENISE COLEMAN
I, I’m trying to call him now.
(waiting on the phone)
He’s not picking up.

Silence.

JOAN
Maybe that’s why Kim came over here. She usually doesn’t come out here.

Silence. Then everyone jumps up to rush out the door.

STAN
Wait a minute!

TYLER WILLIAMS
We have to look for him —

STAN
— People are watching us.

The group slows at the thought.

JOAN
(hangs up the cell)
I still can’t get him on the phone. If he’s missing, we need to know what happened as soon as possible!

STAN
I agree, but if we… That’s what Jim meant by —

DENISE
— handling it his way. He doesn’t want the police or the X-Men involved, a war will break out!

KENT
If an anti-mutant organization got a hold of Rosenburg, the war has already begun. It’s just a matter of time before everyone else knows about it.

Silence.

TYLER WILLIAMS
Cancel the election?

STAN
We’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on this campaign. We are less than 48 hours from the election. I’m not canceling anything! We have to —

— There is a pounding at the door. They all pause.

DENISE
Check the camera monitor!

KENT
It’s…

Stan runs to the door, opens it, Allan Rosenburg stumbles in and falls to the floor.

STAN
Allan! What happened to you?!

ROSENBURG
I, I was attacked by, some type of mutant killers. Professional. They, they knew how to contain my mutant ability…

JOAN
Call for an ambulance!

ROSENBURG
No! Call Thompson. He has the equipment to regenerate my energy. Call him.

INT. WASHINGTON D.C. – CONFERENCE ROOM – NIGHT

Jim Slade, Jessica Miller, Steve Beck, and Kim Nadar sit in a conference room looking at monitors setup in the room. Each one shows the face of the leading organizer for the campaign waiting to hear what Jim Slade has to say.

SLADE
I know it’s late, especially for you on the east coast. But I had to let all of you know —

JESSICA
(to Slade)
— Honey, I got a message!

SLADE
What?

JESSICA
Look!

Jim Slade grabs his phone on his side and reads the incoming message.

(TEXT MESSAGE)
“We found Allan Rosenburg. In bad shape, but recovering at Dr. Thompson’s facilities, in critical, but stable, condition.”

Jim sits in shock for a while, then a sense of relief comes over him.

SLADE
I am so sorry everyone —

SCREEN #1
— Is there a problem, Mr. Slade?

SLADE
Honestly, I thought there was a very serious problem, but, it will be okay now.

SCREEN #5
Are you sure?

SLADE
Everyone get some rest.

INT. RUSSIA – COLOSSUS’ HOME – DAY

Nightcrawler and Colossus are thinking about their last trip, investigating the interior of the Russian military medical base on diagrams. One section is circled, found deep beneath the surface.

COLOSSUS
I cannot get this off of my mind, Kurt. There has to be another area we missed.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I searched as far as I could, as fast as I could Piotr, and found nothing.

COLOSSUS
This area is not supposed to be here! It’s hundreds of feet below ground, not registered with the U.N.

NIGHTCRAWLER
It would not be uncommon for any country to keep a little part of their government operations secret.

COLOSSUS
At a time such as this, they should not!

A laptop BUZZES and Colossus walks over, opens it up, to see a Live Feed from America.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Hello, Piotr, Kurt. I wanted to check on you.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Hello, Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
You both must realize, we are no longer X-Men.

COLOSSUS
We needed to know whether or not they are hiding something. I needed to know.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
But Piotr, at what cost?! You should not risk the peace of mutants and mankind on a gut feeling.

NIGHTCRAWLER
They have a medical facility underground, deep beneath the surface.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
What did you find?

NIGHTCRAWLER
Nothing out of the ordinary —

COLOSSUS
— No chemicals, no weapons, nothing setup for experiments on people or mutants. But why, why do they need this place? It cannot be there for no reason at all.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I agree.
(pause)
However, there is no proof of the Russian government being involved with illegal activities.

NIGHTCRAWLER
I feel Piotr is right. Perhaps they knew we were coming, or finished the project before we arrived.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
If you would have been discovered, we would have been blamed for starting the war all over again —

COLOSSUS
— If we waited too long it would have cost us much more.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Be patient, Piotr. If there is a threat, they have to make the first move. I don’t want to give our opposition any reason to blame mutants.

NIGHTCRAWLER
There’s nothing else we can do now, but to trust that peace will prevail.

INT. WASHINGTON D.C. – PATIENT AREA

This is a private medical facility specifically for mutants. Jim Slade and DR. JAMES THOMPSON look through a clear wall at Allan Rosenburg’s recovery progress.

SLADE
How is he?

DR. THOMPSON
He took a massive jolt to his entire system. Despite the condition he came in, he should recover pretty well.

They walk closer to the clear wall, looking through it at the case containing Allan Rosenburg.

DR. THOMPSON
He helped us design the technology to harness his power. Enough was stored here in case of an emergency such as this. We never thought we’d use it, however.

SLADE
How much time will it take for him to recover?

DR. THOMPSON
Once his strength is regenerated, he’ll be back to normal within a few hours. I do want to keep him longer to make sure he’s emotionally stable more than anything else.
(pause)
He’s been through a traumatic experience.

SLADE
They tried to kill him.

DR. THOMPSON
Yes, surprisingly though, whoever they are, they believed they killed him.

SLADE
He came back to life?

DR. THOMPSON
In a way, they must have used a high-powered concussion blast, which knocked him out. All of his systems failed. However, our readings show he expelled much of his energy before he was hit. His energy is designed to recharge itself once it reaches a low level or is suddenly extinguished.

SLADE
So, he was practically dead before they shot him.

DR. THOMPSON
Precisely. Counting on his energy to do its job though, because of the concussion blast, it took a lot longer for him to regenerate. Most likely, he had no pulse, his captors assumed he was dead.

SLADE
What type of weapon could harm a mutant like Allan? I thought he was almost invincible!

DR. THOMPSON
True. But this is the most puzzling aspect of all. They had the ability to capture him and nearly kill him with energy or a weapon we have no knowledge of. In his previous battles, no one stood a chance against him. Perhaps…

Dr. Thompson seems lost in thought.

SLADE
Perhaps what?

DR. THOMPSON
We’re still testing this theory, but perhaps a similar energy to Allan’s was used against him. A more powerful substance, too much for him to handle at one time.

SLADE
But, where would anyone get energy like that from?

DR. THOMPSON
That is the question you have to find the answer to.

Jim Slade gives a sigh.

The patient room fills with the staff and Jessica, all taking a look at Allan in the case to make sure he’s alright.

DR. THOMPSON
Go and talk to him, Jim. He needs to see you.

SLADE
What do the readings on those monitors mean?

DR. THOMPSON
Oh, well, my goodness, remarkable —

SLADE
— Good news?

DR. THOMPSON
Over sixty percent of his energy is already regenerated. His systems have stabilized, although his heart rate is a bit high, everything seems normal from here.

SLADE
He’s going to want to leave once he’s fully recovered.

DR. THOMPSON
That concerns me the most. You must keep him calm, at least until the election is over. I imagine he wants to look for the people who did this to him.

Jim walks towards the entrance into the room.

SLADE
And we don’t need any ripples in the water.

DR. THOMPSON
Go on, I have to give these stats to the nurses.

SLADE
Hey, thank you.

They shake hands and give a brief one arm hug with mutual admiration.

PATIENT ROOM

Jim Slade walks into the room and everyone turns to him.

SLADE
How is he?

JESSICA
They said, physically, he’s going to be fine. He’s a fighter.

ROSENBURG
(whisper)
Jim?

SLADE
Did he say something?

ROSENBURG
(whisper)
I want to go home.

SLADE
Allan!

ROSENBURG
After we win the election.

SLADE
Get some rest, my friend. We’re almost there.

ROSENBURG
You have to find them. You have to —

SLADE
— We have people on it, but it could be anyone from any country. There’s not enough time to narrow it down.

The case lights up momentarily and everyone steps back quickly.

ROSENBURG
Then we have to get to as many election centers around the globe as possible. Increase the security. Call on other mutants to help the National Guard.

SLADE
Kim already sent out the information.

The case briefly lights up and charges go over Allan Rosenburg’s body. The monitor reads 68%.

ROSENBURG
I’ll be in place, Jim.

SLADE
I don’t want to —

ROSENBURG
— I’ll be there!

SLADE
You call me.
(to everyone)
We all keep in touch, everybody lay low and stick together!
(pause)
Security is outside, you will all be escorted to your offices, including your homes. No one deviate from the plan.

Everyone agrees.

SLADE (CONT’D)
(eyes watery)
Thank you, everyone, for the sacrifices you’ve made, for me, for man and mutant-kind alike. This is our legacy. We are at the dawn of a new age, where humans and mutants will begin to live together in harmony for the rest of time.

Jim Slade takes Jessica’s hand and walks out the door. Everyone begins to follow exchanging nods of assurance to one another. The case containing Allan Rosenburg begins to glow
steadily with his energy. Election day has begun. It’s midnight.

INT. CEREBRO – MIDNIGHT

The room has a faint glow of dark blue light. Charles Xavier sits in the shadows, hands on his helmet, connected to Cerebro. He uses his telepathy to speak.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
X-Men…

The X-Men, in various locations around the globe, stop in their tracks, all acknowledging they are listening.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (CONT’D)
I know you have not been able to rest. I am as nervous as you are. I have imagined this day for many years, but never truly witnessed it happen in reality. Let us make our vote today, be the most important battle we have ever won. Without a shot being fired, we will win the victory we’ve always fought for. Go my friends, enjoy this day. It will change the course of history. I love you all.

The connection breaks as Professor Xavier lifts the helmet off of his head.

Each X-Man, in his own house, takes a proud stand. Some shed tears, while others grow tense, focused.

Professor Xavier sits in front of Cerebro, head in his hands, crying. Sadness and joy overcomes him.

NEW YORK CITY

Jean and Scott stand in their bedroom in each others arms as the moonlight comes through their condo’s patio door curtains.

RUSSIA
Nightcrawler sits still in a den, while Colossus stands nearby, stone cold, staring out a window.

LOUISIANA
Gambit and Rogue are at a park. Rogue sits normally on the bench while Gambit sits up on the back rest next to her. Silent, but feeling the same emotions.

AFRICA
Storm stands in the midst of high plains, gazing at the sky, the wind blowing her hair and flowing outfit in a delicate manner.

WASHINGTON D.C.
Beast looks over his medical lab, picking up tubes here and there, checking sanitation, though his thoughts are on the election, mind wandering, teary-eyed. ShadowCat stands on her balcony overlooking the city, hands on the rail, thinking about the day ahead.

CHICAGO
Archangel stands on top of a skyscraper, his metal wings illuminating in areas, night-time traffic driving by below. He looks down at a voting center, a determined, resolved look on his face.

ENGLAND
Betsy Braddock is in a gym, which is apart of her home in London, kicking and punching away at a bag while throwing psychic knives at targets around the room. Suddenly, she stops, falls to her knees, wanting to hold back tears that seem to ignore her request.

THE ARCTIC
Iceman sits in the sun, atop a mountain, sunlight bounces off of his ice-covered body.

MICHIGAN
Jubilee lies in her bed holding a colorful energy blast in her hand, looking out her bedroom window at the full moon above, a determined look on her face.

EXT. CANADA – WOOD CABIN – NIGHT

The area is covered with snow.

INT. WOOD CABIN – LIVING ROOM

His expression is full of thoughts, from relief to concern to disbelief. Wolverine sits in his cabin looking through old books he collected and his favorite swords on the wall. He spends time shining his favorite one and carefully placing it back on the stand. He turns to look at the news coverage of the coming event, the election of the century.

BEDROOM

A faint smile, he walks into his room to try to get some rest. Wolverine’s room goes dark as he blows the candle out.

INT. U.S. – VARIOUS PLACES – DAY
Televisions are on across the nation. Inside diners, homes, business offices, all turned to the news talking about the election’s turn-out so far.

INT. NEWS STATION – WASHINGTON D.C.
An ANCHOR, Robert, speaks to KATIE LEE, a reporter, about the events taking place.

ANCHOR
We have an all-time turn-out record being set as we speak. From Maine to Florida to California to the state of Washington. Mutants and humans are gathering hours before the polls open in most states to make one of the most important votes, some say, in U.S. History. We have our correspondent, Katie Lee, on the scene in Washington D.C. with the latest report. Katie.

EXT. WASHINGTON D.C. VOTING CENTER – DAY

Katie Lee stands along side a long line of crowds.

KATIE
Thank you, Robert. As you can see, the lines already stretch out for blocks as many have slept here, in front of the voting center, overnight. Of course, the National Guard has been on the scene, just
in case any type of violence breaks out. But people seem to be in great spirits calling this a new beginning for human and mutant relations.

NEWS STATION

ANCHOR
Katie, how many people have you spoken to so far?

WASHINGTON D.C. VOTING CENTER

KATIE
Actually, most want to be on camera to say “Hi” to their relatives, but more importantly, to say they stand for the cause of equality for humans and mutants. As you can hear behind me, they are very excited to finally vote on this issue in less than an hour.
(pause, she turns to look at the crowd)
I’ll get one of these gentlemen on air for us.
(to Voter)
Excuse me, sir?

VOTER
Hey, it’s Katie Lee!

KATIE
Yes, can you tell our viewers about your feelings on the votes your about to make?

VOTER
I’ve been watching the situation between mutants and humans for over ten years and I think mutants are just like people. You have your good ones and bad ones, and I don’t think the good ones should be punished because of the few bad apples. That’s why I’m voting for Jim Slade.

KATIE
Thank you.
(to Voter #2)
What about you, ma’am?

VOTER #2
A mutant actually saved my life a couple of years ago. I was in a bad car accident and they took me to the hospital faster than any ambulance could. That’s when my heart started to change towards
them. I’m trying to be more accepting now. I don’t think Vincent Smith represents that.

KATIE
That is a great story, thank you, ma’am.
(to the camera)
Well Robert, the crowd here seems to fall in line with the polls, which is good news for Jim Slade and mutant-kind. Reporting from Washington D.C., back to you.

INT. NEWS STATION

ANCHOR
Thank you, Katie. I know, we’ve gone over this time and again, but today is finally the day. So, bear with us a few hours longer. On the ballots, everyone, humans and mutants, will vote for the next President of the United States “and” the final verdict will be made on the Mutant Control Agency, which has been abandoned for three years now. When some of the Congressmen on Capitol Hill expressed restarting the program, it backfired on them. States voted to give mutants the right to vote, and now, for the first time in history, the mutant race will openly help elect our next President.

The Anchor turns to his guest, CHRIS BAKER and LUKE TOWNSEND to talk about the event.

ANCHOR
We have two guests this morning. Both have been with us periodically throughout this process. Chris Baker, long time coordinator for the Mutant Control Agency, and Luke Townsend, a professor at Harvard University who has studied mutants for almost five years now.
(pause)
We’ll start with you, Professor Townsend. How will today’s vote affect life as we know it?

TOWNSEND
I think we are looking at the evolution of the human race as we speak. Five years ago, we were wondering whether or not we made the right choice by not starting a third World War by attacking the
mutant race. Instead, the logical and reasonable choice was made to trust the mutants who have proved themselves trustworthy. We started working with them, instead of trying to control them. The U.N. took the right stance in supporting them globally and the “evil” mutants were brought into custody with the help of the X-Men and other mutant affiliations.

ANCHOR
It really did prevent a global catastrophe.

TOWNSEND
When we decided not to be led by our fear, our greatest fear never came into reality. We’ve only moved forward from that point and, who can remember when the last battle took place in the middle of any U.S. city.

ANCHOR
This is truly amazing when you think about it. Mr. Baker, how do you feel about the progress we have made?

BAKER
I want to ask the question no one is asking anymore. Can mutants continue to control themselves without the supervision of governments around the world?

TOWNSEND
There has been over three years of peace —

BAKER
— Let me continue, if I may. Mutants have the type of power ordinary humans do not have. Once they get the President they want into power, along with the regulations already granted to them by the U.N., how would we ever stop them from controlling everything if they chose to?

TOWNSEND
This is the type of thinking that got us on the brink of war five years ago. Someone gives a hypothetical situation on international television and people become afraid of what hasn’t happened yet.

BAKER
Think about this. Mutants have more power now than they did five years ago. Five years ago, very few, if any governments would back them. They were alone, with the world, seemingly standing against them. Of course, they decided to behave. But now, they’re integrated with the governments around the world. Their voting power has already changed the face of Washington. Next, will be the President of the United States. We’re giving them everything they need to overthrow the human race through our democracy.

ANCHOR
You disagree with him, Professor?

TOWNSEND
This point-of-view comes with the huge assumption that mutants want to take over the world. I’ve been around mutants long enough to know the majority of them simply want to fit-in with the rest of society, which is what they have done since the regulations have been passed by the U.N. This is why there are crowds of people standing in line to support the mutant race. We have finally figured out, they are not so different from us after all. We cannot punish them for having powers humans don’t have.

BAKER
This is a grave mistake on our part to let the mutant race have power outside of their own already extraordinary abilities. The Mutant Control Agency should be allowed to do its job, find new mutants, categorize them, and make sure any uprising can be contained by our Sentinel program.

TOWNSEND
The Sentinels caused more damage than mutants! That is not protecting the citizens of the world!

BAKER
The Sentinels are our only protection against them. We were in the process of coming up with newer models that met government regulations around the world in order to fight the mutants more efficiently, with less collateral damage —

TOWNSEND
— People are not collateral damage, Mr. Baker.

The Anchor waves his hands, getting their attention.

ANCHOR
Gentlemen, that’s all the time we have for this segment. Thank you for coming this morning, both of your opinions have gotten great responses from our viewers.
(to the audience)
Ladies and gentlemen, I rarely give my personal feelings on the telecast, but I believe this is one of the proudest days we’ll ever witness in, not only American History, but World History. We’ll continue to look around the country to witness today’s event, after the break.

EXT. UNITED STATES – VARIOUS CITIES – DAY

People stand in line outside across the nation, waiting to vote. Cities in the north, south, east, and west, people are shown standing in the streets, cheering, celebrating. People are talking to news reporters on the scene, smiles on their faces, flags flying, t-shirts, buttons, balloons, sported for their candidate. Cars are driving by, honking their horns across the nation, everyone is upbeat. No sign of anti-mutant propaganda anywhere. The country seems to be united on this issue. From city to city, members of the X-Men, Excalibur, Avengers, along with other mutants are seen in and around voting centers casting their vote parading the same memorabilia for their candidate.

EXT. NYC VOTING CENTER – 7PM

The sun beginning to set. The voting center promises to stay open longer until the remaining people in line have voted. Scott Summers and Jean Grey are outside of the voting center. The National Guard is patrolling the streets. People are hanging around the area long after they’ve voted. Helicopters fly overhead, helping the men on the ground keep an eye on things. Scott and Jean watch a helicopter fly by.

JEAN GREY
(teary-eyed)
Wow, what a day. It’s just —

CYCLOPS
— Amazing.
(pause)
Unbelievable.

JEAN GREY
I am so glad our child will be able to see all of this.

CYCLOPS
I thought the day would never end. Our vote is going to change the world —

— The street lights flicker. Everyone pauses. Jean feels a bit faint.

CYCLOPS (CONT’D)
Jean…

JEAN GREY
I…

The world seems to stand still for a moment. Then, an explosion across the street from the second story of a building. Pieces of concrete fly into the street. People began to scream, then run. As Scott and Jean began to run towards the explosion, another explosion occurs down the street, then another. Everyone is startled, not knowing which way to run.

Jean Grey runs down the street and holds up huge fragments falling from buildings in front of her. Cyclops runs to the area where the first explosion occurred and helps people stuck under debris. Suddenly, from a city bus driven to the top of a parking garage, a man shouts out.

MAN
Die mutants!

Jean Grey is struggling to hold up the mounting pieces of falling debris throughout the busy city streets…

JEAN GREY
It’s too much! I can’t hold it! Scott! Scott!

Cyclops is busy filtering people to safety and firing away falling debris when he looks back across the street and sees Jean Grey losing her control over falling debris. He runs towards her.

CYCLOPS
Jean!

Debris starts to fall. Cyclops is running to Jean, the city bus rides off the parking garage roof breaking through the cement barrier, falling towards Jean, who is a bit disoriented. A mother and child run into Jean and she covers them as the city bus and debris are falling towards them overhead. Shots are fired from different directions, Cyclops shoots them all with a wave of his optic beam as he reaches Jean Grey’s side.

CYCLOPS
Get down!

Cyclops looks up, rips his glasses off his face and FIRES a powerful, wide optic blast dead center of the falling city bus and debris. A huge EXPLOSION is heard through the city as the bus and cement blocks are practically vaporized, missing Cyclops, Jean, the mother, and the child.

CYCLOPS
(puts his glasses back on)
Are you alright?!

They all hug Scott so tightly he is almost embarrassed as they repeat their “thank you”s.

CYCLOPS (CONT’D)
(to Jean Grey)
How’s your power?

JEAN
It’s coming back. I’m fine, I just…

CYCLOPS
It’s okay Jean —

JEAN GREY
— No! I’m so sorry. Someone could’ve gotten killed because — !

CYCLOPS
— Them! Because of them! They set these bombs, they set us up! They knew we would come out here to help people!

JEAN GREY
I know. I…

CYCLOPS
Come on. This isn’t over yet, we have to get outta here.

All the while, Jean is thinking, ”I’m gonna be strong enough next time.”

As they run down the street, grenades are thrown in their direction, but Cyclops cannot tell where they are coming from. Suddenly, he spots a man firing a grenade from a launcher, but they are unable to move away in time. Streams of plasma energy intercept it, causing a mid-air explosion. Then Jubilee shoots the man who attacked them. They find cover in a restaurant, kneeling on the floor.

JUBILEE
Are you guys hurt?!

CYCLOPS
Jubilee! Thank you! We have to get out here, now!

JEAN GREY
The X-Jet is coming.

CYCLOPS
Where?

JEAN GREY
Above us.

CYCLOPS
Jubilee, did anyone come with you?

JUBILEE
No, I wanted to hang out here after class.

Another explosion happens nearby, the National Guard returns fire.

CYCLOPS
We need to get to the roof, get Jean out of here, and help the National Guard fight whoever’s behind this.

JEAN
No! I want you to stay with me!

CYCLOPS
I have to —

JEAN
— I do not want our child growing up without a father!

Cyclops doesn’t know what to say.

JUBILEE
They’re coming this way!

Professor Xavier telepathically gets their attention.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (O.S.)
X-Men, get to the roof, it’s too dangerous for me to land anywhere near here.

The X-Jet flies by avoiding gunfire from the rooftops of the city.

EXT. RESTAURANT ROOF – DAY

The roof is clear as Cyclops and Jubilee check around. They see the X-Jet flying overhead, grenades are LAUNCHED at it, the X-Jet dodges them in the distance to avoid heavy damage.

JUBILEE
It’s going by too fast!

Shots FIRE from the roof of the building across the street at them. They’ve been spotted. They see teams of men on other rooftops in the area adjusting their positions to fire at them. Cyclops and Jubilee fire back a few shots and duck for cover.

CYCLOPS
The Professor can’t pick us up, their target is the X-Jet.

JEAN GREY
If we stay here, we won’t survive. We have to fight them off.

CYCLOPS
Too many people will be hurt in the process. These buildings are full of businesses —

JUBILEE
— The Professor’s coming back!

Cyclops grits his teeth, he stands up FIRING a few more shots, then sees a grenade launcher being loaded to fire directly at the building they’re on.

CYCLOPS
Back up!

Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Jubilee back away from the edge of the building.

EXT. BUSINESS ROOF – DAY

The grenade launcher is set to fire when, suddenly, a beam pierces the launcher, splitting it in two. At the entrance of a stairwell door, Henry McCoy, code name Beast, stands holding a powerful weapon. The men turn towards him and open FIRE. He dodges every bullet and FIRES his own weapon, cutting their guns to pieces. The men charge at him swinging, punching, but he avoids their
fists, returning punches and kicks of his own, knocking them on their backs as they come.

RESTAURANT ROOF

By this time, the X-Jet settles above Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Jubilee long enough for them to enter the lowered bay door.

CYCLOPS
We have to get Hank! Their reinforcements are coming!

Just then, Professor Xavier veers the plane left to narrowly avoid a grenade shot at them from a nearby roof. The Professor turns the plane around and suddenly sees Beast.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
(telepathically)
Hank, behind you…!

BUSINESS ROOF

Men from the roof behind him stand up, weapons locked onto Beast, he leaps forward as a few shots are fired, one bullet going through the side edge of his arm and one through the
side of his leg.

He falls to the ground, rolls and sees more men coming through the entrance on the roof he’s on. He knows he doesn’t have enough time to move out of the way and the X-Jet is approaching him overhead, still being fired upon. The men prepare to fire as they dodge the laser beams he fires while lying on his back. A few step out to fire, he closes his eyes, hears the gunshots, but instead of feeling pain, he hears the screams of these men. He opens his eyes to see the National Guard on the roof disarming and FIRING at his attackers.

Beast turns to his right, looking up to see Jubilee running to his side. Suddenly, she fires plasma blasts passed him, knocking an armed man down who was hiding to shoot them at the right moment. A determined look on her face, Jubilee helps Beast up the best she can.

INT. THE X-JET
They make it into the X-Jet. Professor Xavier is still at the controls.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Hold on!

Another grenade is FIRED at them as he pulls away from the rooftops. They hear an explosion which forces the plane forward, but no serious damage has been done. A grenade was fired at them, but the National Guard fired a blast of their own to intercept it. A trail of smoke and energy hang in the air that marks the collision.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (CONT’D)
(telepathically to National Guard)
Thank you, thank you for helping us.

BUSINESS ROOF

Some soldiers turn towards to plane flying off in the distance and salute, some give a wave, a nod. They clear the area and began searching for the more armed men.

NYC STREETS

Other soldiers look through the rubble and buildings trying to figure out how they were set to detonate. One soldier, HORNER, sees something and calls it in to CAPTAIN BRENNER.

HORNER
(comm-link)
Captain.

CAPTAIN
(comm-link)
Go ahead.

HORNER
I found something in Area 4, you need to see this.

Other soldiers come over to look at what was found, including JACOBS.

JACOBS
Are you sure you want to report this? I mean —

HORNER
— We have to.

The captain rides up in a heavily armored jeep, jumps out of the passenger side.

BRENNER
What is it?

Horner shows a thin, light blue wire coming out of the concrete to Captain Brenner.

BRENNER
You found anymore like this?

JACOBS
Over here, sir!

The Captain walks over, more thin, light blue wiring.

CAPTAIN
Okay gentlemen, let’s not jump to conclusions. You understand?!

ALL
Yes, sir.

BRENNER
Still…
(long pause, stares at the wire)
This raises a lot of questions. We need to get to the bottom of this. Fast! Horner, take your team further south. The rest of you stay here and keep your eyes open! Jacobs, take the guys we took into
custody to base, I want them interrogated immediately! We give our full report at 2200 hours! Let’s go!

HORNER
I’m sorry, Captain, uhh —

CAPTAIN
— The voting booths on the west coast prepared to close down when they heard about what happened here. The people wouldn’t go home. Teams were sent out to find any explosives set to detonate.
(pause)
They found them before they blew. We were lucky this time.

JACOBS
Why wouldn’t they all detonate at once around the country?

CAPTAIN
Maybe something went wrong, I don’t know, but these people aren’t stupid. They have upgrades on their weapons I didn’t know existed. Find what you can, whatever looks suspicious, get back to me. Let’s move out!

EXT. X-MANSION – NIGHT

In the sky, high above the state. Suddenly, thunder is heard, lighting flashes across the sky as clouds form. A silver streak flies across the sky. Storm lands on the balcony of her room.

INT. X-MANSION SUBBASEMENT – PATIENT ROOM

Jean grey lies in bed, hooked to monitors. Jubilee holds her hand.

MEDICAL AREA

Beast’s wounds are being wrapped up by Cyclops.

BEAST
She exerted a large amount of energy, Scott. She’s more tired than wounded.

CYCLOPS
Is the baby alright?

BEAST
Yes. Although Jean was under a terrible amount of stress that could cause harm to the child, the baby is resilient. I found no illeffects.

CYCLOPS
She’s not going back out there, Hank. No more missions, that is it! I don’t care if we have to tie her down to the bed.

BEAST
I agree, but knowing Jean Grey we may very well have to.

Jubilee begins to walk away.

JUBILEE
(to Cyclops)
I know Jean will be fine, Scott. Don’t worry.

CYCLOPS
Things are different now. She has to understand that! I will not lose her or our child. I will not! We have to find these people and put an end to their operations before they cause more chaos.

JEAN GREY (O.S.)
Our baby needs his father.

CYCLOPS
Jean.

JEAN GREY (O.S.)
This is “our” baby. I can’t do this by myself.

PATIENT ROOM

Cyclops walks to her side. Beast stands at the entrance.

CYCLOPS
What are you asking me to do?

JEAN GREY
Be Scott Summers, not Cyclops, not the leader of the X-Men.
(pause)
Please.

CYCLOPS
Honey, this battle isn’t over yet.

JEAN GREY
Yes it is. For us, it is.
(to Beast)
This battle should be over for all of us Hank.
(tears fall, to Cyclops)
I want my life to be normal! I don’t wanna do this anymore!
(pause)
I risked my life over and over and I may lose it if I do this again. My baby’s life will be gone, my marriage will be over, I can’t be happy —

CYCLOPS
— Sweetie, sweetie, look at me. I’m not going to let that happen.

JEAN GREY
I’m tired, Scott. I am tired!

She begins to cry in his arms. In the background, the other X-Men stand in silence. Professor Xavier enters the room. Jubilee leans on a wall behind him.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I invite you all to stay here as long as you’d like. Although this is the most well-known facility for mutants, it is also the most protected. I cannot ask you and do not wish for you to go on any new missions. I believe the only way we can win this new battle is to let people lead the way. I have already contacted the current administration, letting them know the X-Men are no more. This school
will continue to accept students, but none of them will be trained to become future X-Men.

JUBILEE
What happens, if things get worse, if these people attack again?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
They will have to come to us. I will not send you out to them.

JUBILEE
I never thought you’d say something like this.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I feel that we are more human than we thought. Dinner is almost ready, if any of you, at least, would like something to eat before you leave.

Professor Xavier exits the room. The X-Men look around at each other, finding themselves in unfamiliar territory.

JUBILEE
Hank, what are you thinking?

BEAST
Though, I am not happy about being shot at…

JUBILEE
You want to walk away?

BEAST
Yes.
(pause)
I guess I could get something to eat.

They all give a faint smile, Jean gets off the bed, Scott moves to stop her, but thinks better of it. Jean Grey and Jubilee go arm in arm towards the door along with Cyclops and Beast following. Storm is in the doorway, waiting for them with open arms. No one wants to talk about what happened that night.

INT. THE WHITE HOUSE – NIGHT

A phone conversation is taking place between Secretary of Defense, BENJAMIN TURNER, and Captain Brenner, whom is still in New York City.

TURNER
I want you to keep a lid of this, I mean everybody! No leaks to the press, nothing! Intel has to confirm these findings before we take any kind of action.

EXT. NYC STREETS – NIGHT

Captain Brenner stands next to an armored vehicle as his men wait behind him for orders.

BRENNER
Sir, what should we do about the scene?

TURNER
Make sure your men keep those areas locked down tight! Use as many men as you need!
(pause)
If this gets out, I don’t have to tell you about the media frenzy.

BRENNER
Sir, I agree.

TURNER
Do what you have to. I’ll brief the President asap, and remember, no journalists, no photographers, no camera crews.

BRENNER
My men have already set up perimeters. We have a second team scouting the areas to make sure they’re clear.

TURNER
Will this work?

BRENNER
Sir, most of the people fled the scene on their own, to get away from the explosions. We’re focused on “keeping” the streets clear.

TURNER
Good work, Captain. You and your men are to be commended.

BRENNER
Thank you, sir.

The Secretary of Defense hangs up the phone. The Captain pauses to take an incoming call on his radio…

VOICE (O.S.)
Captain.

BRENNER
Go ahead.

VOICE (O.S.)
The mobile lab has the results on the wire. They want you to confirm.

BRENNER
I’m on my way.
(turns to soldiers)
Troy.

TROY
Yes, sir?

BRENNER
I don’t know how well connected these people are. Make sure everybody stays awake, you got me?

TROY
Yes, sir.

BRENNER
I’m going to the lab. Let’s hope we’re wrong.

The Captain jumps into the heavily armored jeep and the driver pulls away. The rest of the National Guard stand ready, guns drawn, night vision scopes on, snipers on the roofs looking over the area, making sure pictures aren’t taken and no threat is approaching.

INT. X-MANSION – KITCHEN – NIGHT

Some of the X-Men pack their dinner “to go.”

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Leaving so soon?

STORM
I have to go. If I do not leave now I will be out there looking for those men before I realize it.

XAVIER
I understand.

STORM
You do?! Because I don’t.

XAVIER
Ororo, our habits are hard to change. And your instincts take over. But you realize now that your life is more than this. What it has
been before.

Storm slams the knife down on the counter, turns, leans against the counter and begins to cry. Xavier puts his hand on her arm. Ororo gives him a quick hug and kiss on the cheek, then turns and walks quickly out of the kitchen. Xavier hears the wind pick up and thunder roar in the sky. Storm is leaving.

Professor Xavier turns to see the other X-Men following suit. Beast, Jubilee, Cyclops, and Jean Grey, each with food in hand, say their good-byes to the Professor. One by one, they leave, heading in different directions.

FOYER

The Professor is in the front doorway, watching his X-Men, his former X-Men, go out to live lives of their own. His tears begin to fall, but as his head is bowed down, a smile appears on his face, he looks up. In his heart, he knows this is a new chapter in itself.

SUBBASEMENT

To each room, he shuts off the lights, the power grids, the Danger Room, the medical facility, the War Room, and finally the hanger bay holding the X-Jet.

ELEVATOR

He heads to the second floor.

BEDROOM

He slides out of the chair into his bed and under the covers. He looks out the window with wonderment on his face about what the next day will bring. Then, slowly drifts off the sleep.

EXT. NYC STREETS – DAY

The sun rises over the city and Katie Lee begins to speak about the main news topic of the day with the news station in Washington D.C.

KATIE LEE
It began with the National Guard and now the Army Reserve has moved in to block off huge sections of the cities that came under attack yesterday, shortly before the voting booths closed on the East
Coast. No media is allowed in the area. Even news helicopters do not have permission to fly into these air spaces. We can only speculate the reasons behind the military’s actions, though we have been receiving calls from the local residents. As they leave their homes, they cannot take their normal routes to work and other places. They are being detoured to other parts of the cities. The
businesses closet to the voting centers are not going to open today. We are told that the military will remove all debris from the explosions before they will allow people to return. Rob.

ROB
Katie, I believe many of our viewers get the feeling the government is using the military to hide what happened there. Could someone from our own government be behind these tragedies?

KATIE
That’s my guess, the White House Spokesman has not addressed the media at this point, which is very unusual after an event like this.

ROB
Stay on the scene, Katie. Maybe someone will tell you something about what happened yesterday.

KATIE
I’ll definitely be here.

INT. NEWS STATION – WASHINGTON D.C. – DAY

ROB
Thank you, Katie, reporting from New York City. Ladies and gentlemen, unfortunately, all we can do now is sit and wait for word from military officials or the White House. We pray that international terrorists are not involved. But, at this point, we can’t rule anything out until we know exactly what happened.
(to Dan)
Dan, do you have anything to add?

Dan is in standing in front of a large LED screen.

DAN
Robert, we have our own “experts” if you will, looking at the videos of the explosions from yesterday. As they study the film and compare it to other footage we have of recent explosions, we may be able to tell what kind of bombs were used in yesterday’s attacks.

ROB
That is remarkable. Leave those men to their work. We’re anxiously waiting to hear their thoughts. Any comments from them so far?

DAN
Only that the technology is new, as far as explosives go. These bombs are more precise, more organized in how they explode. Like nothing they’ve ever seen before.

ROB
Do you know if they’re ruling out the involvement of mutants in this incident?

DAN
Yes, the explosions seem to be from man-made bombs, but as I said, their complexity is on another level. As you see here in the video, the bombs don’t go off at the same time “and” some of these explosions are smaller than others.

Dan runs the video of the NYC explosions back, then forward in slow motion.

DAN
They pretty much carve out a piece of this building before the huge explosion brings this wall of concrete down. Whoever is behind this is very smart and has access to advanced military technology.

ROB
There is a scary thought. Now folks, let’s not jump to conclusions here, but we have to put the pieces together. The more we look at the video, the more questions we ask, the faster we’ll get to the bottom of all of this. We’ll be back in a moment.

INT. RUSSIA – COLOSSUS’ HOME – NIGHT

Piotr Rasputin turns off the television with the remote control. He turns off the lights in his home.

EXT. COLOSSUS’ HOME – NIGHT

Piotr heads out the door and locks it. He starts his car and drives off. As he heads across the countryside, he turns on the XM Satellite radio to listen to the news reports from the U.S.

INT. NEWS STATION – WASHINGTON D.C. – DAY

ROB
They have their reasons behind this as well. Yes, the votes have all been counted, we know who the next President of the United States will be. However, military forces on the ground backup the message from the White House. No newscast will report the winner until their investigation is over. To my knowledge, they haven’t given any of us a reason why. But for the sake of national security and out of respect for our military forces, we are following these instructions.
(pause)
Wait, we’re getting an update. Katie, do you have something for us?

EXT. NYC STREETS – DAY

KATIE
Yes, Rob they have cleared this area in what seems like record time! Trucks have moved in to remove the barricades —

ROB
— Wow, this is a sudden move by the ground forces, isn’t it?

KATIE
It seems that they’ve planned this very well and, Rob, the National Guard is pulling out. They are leaving the area! Our camera-man can show you, people are looking out the windows of their apartments wondering what’s going on —

ROB
— Any word from the commander of these forces?

KATIE
Wait, soldiers are heading this way.
(to Troy)
Can you tell us what’s happening?!

TROY
I’ve been ordered to tell you to wrap this up, now.

KATIE
But we’re live on —

TROY
— I’m sorry. You and your crew go back to your news station, this armored vehicle will be your escort.

KATIE
What?

TROY
(into the camera)
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your cooperation up to this point, please stay off the streets until we give you further instructions. We’re simply looking out for everyone’s safety.

KATIE
Safety from who?

Troy backs up, looks around at his men quickly.

TROY
Let’s go!

INT. NEWS STATION – DAY

The signal dies, the TV screens around the nation blank out and the feed returns to the main headquarters of the news media.

ROB
We’ve lost Katie! I don’t know what’s going on, but we’ve been told not to send additional reporters to the scene! If anyone can hear or see anything from your homes or wherever you are, contact
the station immediately!

INT. NYC – UNDERGROUND FACILITY

Jim Slade, Rosenburg, and Captain Brenner are walking down a corridor to a lab.

SLADE
I don’t think anyone knows I’m here. The news about the explosions has the media’s attention. What did you find?

BRENNER
This blue wiring was found at all the scenes, embedded into the concrete.

SLADE
What’s so special about this?

BRENNER
Nothing really. It’s standard electrical lines that are normally apart of all modern architecture. Electricians started using it about five years ago. It creates more light using less power. Of course, cities who could afford it began purchasing this type of wire to save money and become “more green” as they call it.

SCIENCE LAB

They walk through double doors.

SLADE
How does this tie into the explosions?

BRENNER
Those teams were already in position to blow up specific sections of those buildings. All of these building sections had been updated with these new wires. As you’ll see, when charged with the type of energy those soldiers were using in their weapons, the wires can ignite. Explode.

SLADE
Why didn’t this danger come up in the test results? Someone covered it up?

BRENNER
I’ve never seen energy pulses like the ones they use in their weapons. I don’t think the inspectors knew it existed. Or enough officials looked away. But we all helped create this wire. Military technicians met at the U.N. from various countries to work together on finding another way to conserve resources globally. It’s tough to gather evidence that points to who is the most responsible.

SLADE
If the U.N. loses credibility, the mutant laws passed a few years ago will certainly be challenged. They’ll be held responsible for letting this threat go right passed them.

BRENNER
If I may say, sir, with only two months left in office, the current President has no power. And if the primaries indicate how yesterday’s vote went, you are the new President of the United States.

SLADE
I know, I know. Suggestions?

BRENNER
You’re asking me?

SLADE
Yes.

BRENNER
You have to take control of the White House, right now, while we still have time. Get your cabinet members and staff together, go to Washington, D.C. The President has to step aside —

SLADE
— He won’t allow that and you know it!

BRENNER
You asked me, sir!

SLADE
Allan, Allan you’ve been quiet. What’s on your mind?

As Allan puts his hand on Rosenburg’s shoulder, Allan’s form changes. He is an imposter, a shape-shifter. MYSTIQUE. Eyes glowing, she swings at Slade’s head, but Slade dodges it. The Captain rushes Mystique knocking her backwards, but a device attached to her palm lights up and FIRES an energy beam at the Captain hitting him in the chest, he falls to the ground. Mystique turns her attention back to Slade, firing another energy beam. Slade leaps out of the way, the explosion behind him launches him forward into a wall.

HALLWAY

Military forces from the base run down the corridor to the room, but the door is jammed.

SCIENCE LAB

Mystique charges up the energy beam about to fire on Slade when the Captain hits her in the head with a metal container knocking her backwards. The energy beam FIRES at the ceiling. Debris falls all around them. Mystique hurls the Captain across the room when Slade jumps over a console and kicks her with both feet together. Only stunned, she knocks Slade back over the console and prepares to fire.

The Captain picks up a small container.

BRENNER
Catch!

Mystique spins her arm around to fire on the Captain as the small container spins towards her. The energy beam hits to container first and EXPLODES knocking Mystique unconscious.

Slade and the Captain come up from hiding behind the fallen debris.

BRENNER (CONT’D)
Are you alright?!

SLADE
Yeah. You?

BRENNER
Fine. How long has he been working for you?!

SLADE
They probably killed Rosenburg and sent this thing to us in his place. We should’ve detected she was a shifter, but our scans came up clean. But how.?

BRENNER
Look, she’s got the new tech gear implanted in her skin. Almost a replica of Rosenburg’s energy.

SLADE
What did you throw at her?!

Brenner kneels down to hot-wire the room’s door.

BRENNER
The wiring. A taste of her own medicine. They probably used various levels of this energy pulse to detonate the explosives. Got it!

The Captain repaired enough of the wires to get the entrance open. Some of the soldiers storm into the room.

BRENNER
We gotta get you top-side, they may know we’re onto them.
(to his men)
Stay in groups. If something or someone seems out of place, notify everyone immediately.

GROUP
Yes sir!

BRENNER
Move out!

Jim Slade is escorted upwards by a large group of soldiers.

EXT. RUSSIA – MILITARY FACILITY – NIGHT

In the pouring rain, Piotr is running through trees and bushes in human form towards the facility in the distance. Spotlights are rotating back and forth. Security seems tight. He pauses to survey the property taking out a small device showing the facilities layout and his exact position. Looking at the time on the screen, he moves forward. A group of trucks can be heard and appear over a hill coming towards the rear of the building.

COLOSSUS
On time.

He moves in closer, closer as the trucks go by. As the last one passes, he runs out to its side and grabs onto the bottom of the truck.

REAR ENTRANCE

The door is opened to the facility and the trucks pull in. Russian soldiers exit the trucks and begin unloading material contained in crates, containers, and boxes by hand and with forklifts.

GENERAL WINSTROM
Take these supplies down to the lab.

SOLDIERS
Yes, sir!

GENERAL WINSTROM
Carefully! We don’t want to waste any of it!

INT. RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE – NIGHT

Soldiers escort long floating platforms of the supplies unloaded to a huge elevator door.

ELEVATOR

They enter and the elevator descends deep below the surface.

MEDICAL LAB

The doors open to a military medical lab, the platforms hover into the room and settle on the floor next to many other platforms just like it. Two soldiers make sure the platforms are “off” and return to the elevator, heading back up to the surface.

Colossus emerges from the crates having a look around. Very dark, only emergency lights seem to be on, with a few faint glows from containers and monitors here and there. He and Nightcrawler had been in a place like this before. But this room holds more advanced technology. He is surprised it is kept basically unguarded. He takes out his computer device to conduct a thermo scan of the area. Everything is cold, save the monitors and electrical equipment.

But something on the little screen seems to distort slightly for a split second. He looks towards that area, but cannot make out anything. He creeps over to get a closer look. His eyes glow in the darkness, fully encased in his organic metal, the reflections of the dimly lit area show on his body. He stands up after deciding there are no cameras in the area. He slowly walks passed metal beams from the ceiling.

OMEGA RED (O.S.)
We meet again, Piotr.

Colossus turns in various directions, looking, but not seeing anyone. Omega Red’s yellow eyes glow in the darkness. The smoke vapors coming from his body is evidence of how cold he is. Faint light vaguely shows his red armor and pale skin.

COLOSSUS
Arkady?

OMEGA RED
I will enjoy destroying you.

COLOSSUS
The X-Men will defeat you again, Arkady.

OMEGA RED
I will have my revenge, and all of the X-Men will die, starting with you.

With that said, Omega Red’s whips shoot out at Colossus who jumps out of the way and they tie around iron beams. Colossus picks up a monitor station and throws it at Omega Red knocking him backwards. Then he leaps forward punching Omega Red with lefts and rights charging up his strength with as much power as he can muster. Omega Red grabs his fist and slings him across the room. Colossus lands on balance. But Omega Red is on top of him immediately punching and kicking in his own combinations. Then, he grabs Colossus with his whip and throws him across the room. A bit dazed, Colossus gets off his back to his hands and knees. Omega’s whip wraps around his neck and begins to drain his energy.

But apparently, Colossus as gotten stronger since their last encounter. He tries to pull the whip from around his neck, grabs the long end attached to Omega and begins to spin Omega swinging him around in a circle through monitors and glass containers. Omega Red’s whip releasing from around Colossus’ neck and he’s thrown into crates against the wall. As Colossus charges in to deliver a finishing blow a huge energy pulse hits him, knocking him off his feet. The same team of special forces that killed Allan Rosenburg surround Colossus now. “FREEDOM” imprinted on their armor. Omega Red leaps forward as Colossus is distracted, headbutting him.

Colossus stumbles backwards, more energy pulses fire at him, he’s stunned. Omega’s whip wraps around him and begins to drain more energy. Then, throws him into more crates in the lab. Colossus struggles to his knees, a whip comes, wraps around his neck, and pushes him against a wall, choking him and draining more power.

The FREEDOM leader, Shawn Johnson, walks forward, standing in front of Colossus. His suit lights up, he dials the device on his arm to charge his weapon to full power. A long blade extends out of the hidden sheath, glowing bright lime green. With a pause, Johnson draws back and thrust the blade against Colossus stomach. But at that moment, Colossus charges up his energy and as the blade hit his organic metal core, it broke off from the his arm. He let out a loud cry.

COLOSSUS
So, you are human.

Omega Red rushes forward and punches Colossus’ head back through the wall. He is out cold. The lab’s elevator doors open. General Winstrom walks in.

GENERAL WINSTROM
Contain him! I want to know exactly what kind of metal this is that can withstand our energy pulse. We need him alive to get useful results.

OMEGA RED
No! Destroy him now! He’s a threat to our —

GENERAL WINSTROM
I am in charge now, Omega Red!

Russian soldiers surround Omega Red with weapons emitting a faint light blue color and vapor. Cold air.

GENERAL WINSTROM
You agreed to do this our way this time. Contrary to the past, our technology is advanced enough to send you back to the cold where you stand in a matter of seconds. However, we would rather work with you to control these mutants. They cannot stop us from reaching our ultimate victory.

OMEGA RED
Your way. But make no mistake, General, I will protect Mother Russia and all her glory.

GENERAL WINSTROM
We’re on the same side then, yes?
(pause)
Come. It is time. Time to take back what is ours and not simply restore Russia, but make her a greater power than she was before.

Colossus is locked down to a smaller hovering platform. Two units escort him to another medical lab room.

UPPER LEVEL

General Winstrom and Omega Red ascend to the surface level of the military base. Anger blazes in Omega Red’s eyes, but in his mind, he knows this “age” is different. His own government has discovered a technology powerful enough to kill him.

MISSILE ROOM

Omega Red follows the General through a small double door. The room is completely dark.

GENERAL WINSTROM
You will see, Omega Red, we are on the same side.

Spotlights turn on in the foreground first, progressing to the background. Omega Red’s eyes widen in surprise as he sees massive warheads ready to be fired within hours. The Bay doors open and crews roll out missiles and other ammunition to an open area where they could be loaded onto planes.

OMEGA RED
(stepping forward, raising his arms)
It is magnificent!

GENERAL WINSTROM
You were the last piece of the puzzle. If you faithfully cooperate with your government, the government that gave you life, you will be rewarded with great territory to rule over. We will be the greatest superpower to reign in history.
(pause)
Are you with us?

OMEGA RED
(small smile)
Aaahhh!

The General smiles and walks away, nodding to top officers to proceed with the plan.

INT. THE WHITE HOUSE – OVAL OFFICE – DAY

The current U.S. President, RICK PHILLIPS, and the future President, Jim Slade, are in the middle of a discussion.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
You must be out of your mind?!

SLADE
Mr. President, we are on the edge of a serious catastrophe! I cannot wait until next year, I need to have my staff in place, right now!

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
I haven’t given up my position. You haven’t taken the Oath to get into office. Votes are still being counted!

SLADE
This goes far beyond a few disgruntled mutants. I need to speak to the ambassadors of the U.N. to figure out what’s going on.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Get out of my office.

SLADE
But Mr. Pres —

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
— I will not let you take command from me like this! Never!

SLADE
We are running out of time!

PRESIDENT
(to Secret Service)
Get him outta here!

Secret Service agents grabs Slade, pulling him out of the room.

SLADE
This is going to go far beyond your term.
(struggling)
Don’t drop this on me in two months!

The room is silent. The President stands with the U.S. Secretary of State, PAUL MAYFIELD.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
That boy has more than a lot of nerve! Can you believe him?!

A knock at the door. An ASSISTANT walks in.

ASSISTANT
Excuse me, Mr. President!

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Yes, what have you got?

ASSISTANT
Unfortunately sir…

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
What is it?!

ASSISTANT
Intelligence confirms. We’ve been able to contact most of the U.N. Ambassadors, except for a handful.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Well, what are they doing? We told them to keep communications open. Especially at a time like this!

ASSISTANT
Yes sir, but eight ambassadors have not gotten back with us.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Eight isn’t bad.

ASSISTANT
Correct sir, but the eight ambassadors are from Russia, Iran, North Korea, India, China, Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, sir.

A long pause.

ASSISTANT
Also, satellites and intelligence confirm that Russian military forces are moving aggressively south towards Kazakhstan and Mongolia. A fraction of China’s military forces are on the move, north, towards the same countries. The General has an updated report of the situation. He’s waiting for you in the War Room.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
(pause)
I’ll wrap up here. I’m on my way, thank you.

The Assistant leaves the room.

The President begins to gathers file folders and other paperwork. Paul Mayfield walks closer to his desk.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
How could this happen?! We agreed to destroy more than half of the nuclear capabilities across the board! They hid their weapons somehow! They lied to us, Paul, they lied! All of them!

MAYFIELD
So did we, Rick. This shouldn’t surprise you.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
We still lost a lot of our inventory!

MAYFIELD
The rest of the U.N. Ambassadors will fill us in on what their Intel knows.

HALLWAY

The President and Mayfield walk down the hallway to the War Room. Security walking by, making sure everyone is in position if an emergency should come up. They look up to see the GENERAL WADE PETERSON coming towards them.

PETERSON
Mr. President.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
General Peterson, we were coming to you.

PETERSON
Understood, but I need to speak to you in private, sir.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Let’s go in here.

SIDE OFFICE

The President and General enter a small office.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
What do you know so far?

PETERSON
There’s no easy way to say this. A new technology has been found, being used by the Russians and the countries who seem to have formed some kind of agreement with them.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
A W.M.D.?

PETERSON
Yes sir, but it’s not nuclear. No radiation trails, which is why we didn’t realize they were building weapons.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
They can’t have power like that without it giving some kind of signature!

PETERSON
Their military forces are using the material found in wiring U.N. technicians created. We believe the Russians have plenty of it. You can power the same buildings with less than half the electricity. In our tests, it could not be used as a weapon. Somehow, they’ve found an energy, it could be from a mutant. When combined with the material, it becomes a deadly explosive.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
How many missiles do they have with this, material?! How much of this energy do they have?!

PETERSON
To be honest, sir, we don’t know.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Ugh!

PETERSON
But looking at the boldness of their military movements in the passed 24 hours, they have more firepower than we can handle. They can overtake our U.N. forces, eventually, if we don’t find out how to disable their energy source.

A knock at the door. Paul Mayfield sticks his head inside.

MAYFIELD
Excuse me, Mr. President, Captain Brenner has some information you need to hear.

HALLWAY

President Phillips and General Peterson walk down the hall continuing towards the War Room.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
What are you thinking?!

PETERSON
We’re going to need all the help we can get, sir.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
You mean, the mutants.

PETERSON
Maybe they can help us figure out how to shut down their energy source or, at least, tell us where it comes from.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
I’m not popular with their kind.

PETERSON
With all due respect, sir, Mr. Slade is.

They stop before going through the door.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
No, General. I’m still in command here.

WAR ROOM

He turns away and they go inside. Captain Brenner stands attention and salutes. Secretary of Defense, BENJAMIN TURNER, is at his side.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Captain, you have an update for me?

BRENNER
Mr. President, yes, sir! Mr. Slade and I were attacked tonight by a shape-shifter who infiltrated his staff.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
What?! Jim failed to mention that earlier!

BRENNER
Apparently, it hung around to make sure we never found out about the energy and material used inside the wiring.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Where is this shape-shifter now?

BRENNER
Being taken to a secured facility, sir. But I wanted to warn you about how dangerous this material is. I used a small case like this, charged with the energy they’re using. It knocked the shifter out cold.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
So, you’re saying…

BRENNER
It doesn’t take much of this stuff to blow up a city block. My guess is, they used this material in constructing there weapons. When a normal tomahawk missile explodes, it’s going to cause at least three times more damage than normal.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
If this is in a cruise missile?

BRENNER
They can build smaller, cheaper missiles.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
(pause)
Do you know where this “energy” is coming from?

BRENNER
Only a mutant can have this type of power, sir.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
I knew it! We changed the laws to help them and now it’s come back on us.
(to Turner)
Ben, move our military into position. We have to defend the mainland first! Send subs to into strategic positions to defend Pearl Harbor!

TURNER
Mr. President, our men don’t know what they’re fighting against.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Are you suggesting that we don’t defend ourselves?

TURNER
Of course not! I want to call Professor Xavier. Have a team of mutants lead are defenses.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Why?!

TURNER
They’ll die without them! This looks like a mutant attack, we need mutants who are willing to fight with us!

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
This country has survived for over 200 hundred years without —

— A BUZZ sounds. The President goes to the table and presses a button.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS (CONT’D)
What is it?!

VOICE (O.S.)
An update, sir. Military and militia from each country have moved aggressively towards the border of their neighbors. Although the Australians are on their way for support, the Japanese army will have difficulty defending themselves until they arrive.

PETERSON
A message is coming up on Line 2!

An ALARM RINGS faintly in the background.

VOICE #2 (O.S.)
This is the Israeli ambassador! We are under attack! I must warn you of their new weaponry! Our automatic defense system is knocking their missiles out of the sky. But the mid-air explosions are so powerful they’re damaging our system. I do not know how much longer we can hold them off!

STATIC.

PETERSON
I’m going out there! Captain!

BRENNER
Yes, sir!

PRESIDENT PHILLLIPS
Where are you —

PETERSON
— Wherever I’m needed!

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
The mainland, General, starting with Washington D.C.!

PETERSON
My advice to you, call Xavier.

The Captain and General exit the War Room.

The speakers are turned on, representatives calling from around the world for the U.S. to help. President Phillips leans on a table, head down, knowing World War III has just begun.

The room is silent.

SLADE
You need my help.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Slade!
(to everyone)
Who let him in here?!

SLADE
Are you going to let down all the people who depend on you by holding on to your pride?

Screams are heard over the speakers.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
(swallows hard)
For now, I will let you “help” me.

Jim Slade pulls out his cell phone.

SLADE
I hope he’s home.

Slade is calling the one person he believes can help.

INT. X-MANSION – LIVING ROOM – DAY

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Hello?!

SLADE
Professor Xavier.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Hello, Mr. Slade. I was expecting your call.

SLADE
Have you contacted the X-Men? What’s your plan?!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I’m sorry, Mr. Slade, but I have not. The X-Men are no more. They’ve gone on with their own lives now. If they fight, they fight because they want to, not because I’ve ordered them to.

SLADE
But we have to stick together more now than ever! You see what’s going on!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Yes. I do. And I know that the X-Men have stood against evil many times before “without” the help of the government. They risked their lives for countless others in times when most people would have detained or killed them! They have given enough for this country, Mr. Slade. More than enough. I cannot and will not ask them to do it, again.

SLADE
I don’t believe what I’m hearing. What happened?!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I suppose, we discovered we are more human than we thought. It is all of our responsibility to stand up for what is right. I think it’s time for others to stand up where we have before. Good-bye, Mr.
Slade.

Professor Xavier hangs up the phone.

Slade slams his cell on the table.

TURNER
They were close to dying too many times?

SLADE
Unbelievable. They can’t back out now. We need them more than ever!

TURNER
We can broadcast you “Live” from here. Ask all the mutants around the country for their help and remind them of the X-Men’s heroic acts.

SLADE
Maybe Xavier is right. How can I?

Turner lets out a sigh. Slade’s staff enters the room.

KENT
Turn on the TV, Jim!

They run over to the console and switch the TV control on. Small televisions show up on a huge screen. Newscasts are looking at the war from different countries. They begin to see several mutants fighting alongside military forces on both sides.

JESSICA
There’s Russia!

Suddenly, the lights flicker.

TURNER
Security! Sweep this place right now!

EXT. RUSSIAN/MONGOLIAN BORDER – NIGHT

Fighting is taking place on the border. Omega Red is leading the charge. The Mongolians’ automated defense system is firing through
large cannons. Tanks, fighter jets, and men on the ground lead the counter-attack. A mixture of bullets and energy blasts fly through the sky. Concussion blasts intercept missiles trying to hit the Mongolian Military Bases. The huge mid-air EXPLOSIONS cause each side to keep their distances from each other.

MONGOLIAN SOLDIER
The upgraded defense system is working!

MONGOLIAN SOLDIER #2
The shrapnel will take its toll! We have to hit the source of those missiles!

EXT. RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE – NIGHT

Nightcrawler is sneaking up to the military base where he and Colossus were before. He teleports into the center of a supply carrier being brought inside the base. Ahead, he sees a soldier scanning the carriers to make sure no intruders are onboard before he clears it through the door. Nightcrawler teleports to the carrier ahead of him, before the soldier knows he’s there.

INT. RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE – ELEVATOR

The elevator descends below to the same room Colossus was captured in.

SCIENCE LAB

Security guards are positioned throughout the room. The carrier floats inside and settles on the ground. Workers began to take off the large containers.

ELEVATOR SHAFT

Nightcrawler has no choice but to teleport through the wall to the top of the elevator. Faint light comes through the shaft and the top of the elevator.

HALLWAY

He teleports into the hallway next to the elevator. Staying low to the ground, he moves forward. Suddenly, the elevator door in front of him begins to open.

SIDE ROOM

He teleports into a room next to him.

HALLWAY

The soldiers spot his smoke trail and run towards the area.

SIDE ROOM

They charge through the door, but see no one. They search the room.

HOLDING AREA

Nightcrawler teleported a few rooms ahead of him because he saw Colossus encased in glass lined with steel beams. A light purple energy illuminated from the case. Suddenly, shots rang through the room. Two soldiers spot Nightcrawler through the windows. One of them notifies the base of the intruder on his radio. Nightcrawler quickly looks over the console, but cannot figure out what all the buttons are for. The door behind him opens and the soldiers began FIRING. Nightcrawler teleports out of the way, but comes directly towards the men, kicking them off their feet. He looks up to see more soldiers coming down the metal walkways and a few began opening FIRE.

More soldiers arrive, swinging at Nightcrawler. But, he simply ducks out of the way and returns with acrobatic punches and kicks of his own. Then he grabs one man with his tail and throws him into the case holding Colossus. The light purple energy blazes over the man. He falls to the ground unconscious. Apparently, this output of energy weakened the case because Colossus began to stir. The other soldiers arrive FIRING at Nightcrawler, who teleports from one place to the next to avoid them. Colossus’ first few punches begin to crack the glass and steel. Then, with a yell and charge of energy, he punches his arm through the case.

The soldiers begin FIRING at him as he breaks through. He begins knocking men out of the way as he goes towards the door. Then, he sees a FREEDOM team in one corridor charging
up their weapons, aiming at him. They FIRE. Nightcrawler leap onto Colossus’ back, teleporting them out of the room.

ELEVATOR SHAFT

The elevator isn’t responding. Colossus breaks through the ceiling, they jumped up on top of the elevator. Nightcrawler leaps on his back once more as he looks up and teleports them both to the ground level door.

SURFACE LEVEL

Colossus breaks through the elevator doors. Soldiers are waiting for them and open FIRE. The two fight their way through the “crowd”. The FREEDOM unit arrives, firing energy pulses.

EXT. RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE – NIGHT

They run outside.

MILITATRY BASE ROOF

Teleport to the roof of the building where a U.S. carrier plane flies over. The FREEDOM soldier FIRES a ROCKET from his launcher at them. Nightcrawler grabs Colossus, looks up, and teleports into the
U.S. plane high above the ground. They are safe, for now, as U.S. soldiers greet them. But they know they are heading for an even bigger battle.

EXT. ISRAELI/SYRIAN BORDER – NIGHT
The Israeli defense system is wearing down. Huge EXPLOSIONS cause shrapnel to tear apart their armored defenses. More missiles are on the way. The ground-to-air guns and missiles FIRE, intercepting them, but this time the impacts destroy the foundation of some of the guns. Soldiers closet to the area begin to run in retreat. More missiles are seen in the distance. The soldiers huddle
behind a large building, grasping their weapons, holding their hats on, SIRENS BLARING.

The wind begins to pick up dramatically, clouds roll in, THUNDER ROARS over the sirens. Huge flashes of light illuminate the sky. EXPLOSIONS are heard in the distance. One of the soldiers is brave enough to look around the building at what’s going on. He looks up to see Storm, hovering in mid-air, arms raised, controlling the lightning as it strikes the upcoming missiles.

SYRIAN DEFENSE BASE

Israeli jets race by.

ISRAELI PILOT
Get a lock on the target!

ISRAELI PILOT #2
It’s close, keep looking!

ISRAELI PILOT #3
Watch out!

The pilots find the place where the missiles are being launched from. The ground-to-air guns are defending the area, locking on to any targets that gets too close.

ISRAELI PILOT
We can’t get in range!

ISRAELI PILOT #3
What’s that down there?!

A blur goes across the terrain. It is Storm’s “son” racing through Syrian territory. The defense system picks him up, locks on, and begins FIRING. But he is too fast. The guns end up firing into other areas of the defense system blowing up the foundation. The system begins to shut down. The Israeli planes make a U-turn towards the missile launching site. They Lock on and FIRE. The EXPLOSIONS cave in the ground around the missile launchers. Suddenly, Syrian planes fly passed them.

ISRAELI PILOT #2
They’re going after Storm!

ISRAELI PILOT #3
Catch ‘em! Catch ‘em!

ISRAELI PILOT
We can’t fire, we might hit her!

ISRAELI DEFENSE SYSTEM

The Syrian jets are fast. Storm is almost in their range when she spots them. They begin to fire. The sound of bullets fly passed her. A Syrian pilot finally locks on, but before he can fire, an Israeli soldier mans a ground-to-air cannon and fires at him, destroying the plane.

The explosion pushes Storm back, out of control. She is already drained from using so much power. As she falls, people point and scream. Storm’s son arrives on-time to catch her. Soldiers cheer.

EXT. RUSSIAN/MONGOLIAN BORDER – EVENING

The bay door of the U.S. Plane opens. U.S. soldiers along with Colossus and Nightcrawler look down at the battle below. Shots begin to whirl passed the plane from a powerful gun on a roof. Nightcrawler takes his spot on Colossus’ back as they jump out of the plane.

RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE

Teleporting closer the weapon, Colossus’ weight smashes the barrel and Nightcrawler knocks out the shooter. They teleport to the ground, on the frontline, and charge at the enemy. No one had come out on the battlefield this far, but they both, in their own way, make it across the field deeper into enemy territory. The enemy is caught off guard. The Russian soldiers begin to fire on them, but they hold their own. Colossus begins overturning tanks and throwing enemy soldiers here and there.

BASE ROOF

Nightcrawler finds another cannon atop of roof, knocks out the shooter, and turns the cannon on the enemy, FIRING away at ground troops and other cannons positioned on other buildings. With the confusion stirring, more Mongolian soldiers decide to cross the battlefield into enemy territory, engaging soldiers along the way. Reinforcements show up along with FREEDOM units. Their energy pulse weapons sting Colossus so much, he begins to fall back. The troops from Mongolia have gained ground, but the enemy takes solid position again around their base. They do not want the missile launchers destroyed.

INT. WASHINGTON D.C. – WAR ROOM

Jim Slade and his staff are on the phones contacting as many representatives as possible to find out what’s going on in their countries. The new focus is London, England.

SLADE
(on the phone)
Yes, I’m sure! Military forces from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. We’re trying to confirm Syrian forces.
(pause)
There are countries that have combined their — I know, but we are already stretched thin. I cannot spare anymore aircraft.
(pause)
I’m sorry. Tell your men to look for mutant support in the area and fight along side of them.
(pause)
You stand a better chance with them than without them. They’re putting their lives on the line as well.
(pause)
Right, keep communications open as long as you can. Our satellite is still operational.

EXT. LONDON, ENGLAND STREETS – EVENING

Russian jet fighters are flying over head. The ENGLISH GENERAL leads his military squad to something that caught his eye through his binoculars. EXPLOSIONS can be heard throughout the city. Light reflects off of metal from a figure in the air, which creates glares in the sky sporadically. Finally, after a few street fights in closed quarters, the English soldiers arrive on the edge of an open area.

Above, Archangel is engaged with Russian military aircraft. Below, Psylocke is leading stragglers to safety and fighting off ground forces with a squad from the English army. The General surveys the situations, spotting enemy snipers on the roofs of buildings. He motions for his men to split up and go into strategic positions. The noise is deafening. They move out.

LONDON SKY

Archangel was once named the “Angel of Death” by Apocalypse. Although the enemy’s aircraft are fast and larger than he is, his wings are deadly weapons in the sky. With the aid of England’s Air Force, Archangel battled the enemy fighters. One comes straight for him, FIRING away. He encloses his wings tightly around him as BULLETS RING off of his metal wings. As the aircraft passes by, he opens his wings, slicing off one of the jet fighter’s wings.

The AIRCRAFT spins in the air, EXPLODING as it hits the ground. Archangel continues this move while FIRING razorsharp PROJECTILES at enemy fighters ripping off pieces of the wings, so the pilots were unable to control their aircraft. Suddenly, an enemy fighter locks onto him and fires a missile. Archangel pulls his wings close to him which allows him to fly at a high rate of speed. The missile closes in and Archangel heads directly for another enemy plane. The enemy catches sight of Archangel and tries to steer out of the way. But as Archangel whips by, the missile hits the enemy CRAFT and EXPLODES.

Another enemy craft is directly in front of him before he knows it. But a friendly fires a missile destroying it. The EXPLOSION knocks Archangel back. He regains his control just before falling into a piece of roof on a high building.

GROUND AREA

In the meantime, Psylocke decides to go hunting with the General’s squad. His men found their positions and FIRE on enemy snipers along with other groups trying to advance downtown.

ENGLISH GENERAL
Keep them away from the Parliament!

Suddenly, a rocket flies into the area EXPLODING behind the soldiers. Everyone ducks for cover, except for Psylocke, who has a reputation for not having any fear. She runs through the open area straight for the building the rocket was shot from.

SOLDIER
Cover fire!

ENGLISH GENERAL
Cover fire!

The soldiers shoot enemies in the distance who stand up to get a shot on Psylocke. Her hand lights up as she makes psychic knives and throws them through a window giving her a clear path to jump through.

ENGLISH GENERAL
Is she crazy?! Move! Move! Move! We cannot lose her!

In waves, the men advance forward, those stalling behind give cover fire for them. The first wave blast through the door to find Psylocke.

INT. ABANDONED BUILDING

Long blade in one hand, psychic knife in the other, she takes out enemy soldiers left and right, finally ducking when shots ring out from the stairway. She becomes furious, throws her blade into the ceiling, grabs it and with the other hand, cuts a hole in the floor to get through. The General knows what she is up to. He begins shooting at the ceiling startling the enemy soldiers up their.

SECOND FLOOR

Psylocke catches them off guard, throwing psychic knives, three, four at a time. The soldiers below rushed upstairs now that the stairway is clear. They find the enemy ducking for cover away from Psylocke and take them out. More explosions are heard outside and the ground begins to shake as if an earthquake were happening. They look out of broken windows to see Pyro setting buildings on fire and Avalanche…

EXT. WORLDWIDE

On the battlefields, it was clear. The countries of Russia, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, India, China, Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan had joined their military forces across the globe. Their missiles and gunfire streak across the sky. Anti-Missile guns fire back. More explosions, more deafening noise.

EXT. GERMAN/POLAND BORDER – EVENING

Toad and Blob stand near the front of the battle. No one can stop the Blob. Toad grabs men with his tongue, crushing their bodies and tossing them out of the way. The German army tries to hold their ground, but the Blob is taking whatever ammunition they throw at him. The enemy army slowly, but surely, breaks through the Poland frontline. Toad leaps forward to grab another soldier when a flash goes by him, knocking him to the ground. He leaps up, looking around, but sees nothing unusual.

Another flash, then another goes by knocking him back and forth into a daze. Then, he is kicked to the ground. Toad looks up to see QuickSilver standing there for a brief moment. Gunfire comes and QuickSilver quickly moved out of the way. The Blob stumbles over knocking men aside holding a barrel of a tank. Red light surrounds him, he looks at his hands to see what is going on. He is lifting into the air slightly and is thrust back about 20 yards. The Scarlet Witch is holding onto an armored vehicle riding to the scene.

POLAND MILITARY BASE

The vehicle comes to a stop. QuickSilver suddenly stands at her side as she drops down.

QUICKSILVER
Be careful.

SCARLET WITCH
You too.

After a quick hug, QuickSilver is gone.

POLAND/GERMAN BORDER

Back at the frontline. QuickSilver dodges gunfire, shrapnel, Toad, and the Blob, who has a hard time keeping up. The enemy begins FIRING concussion blasts, which stun QuickSilver, knocking him off his feet. Toad leaps over to him quickly, wrapping his tongue around his neck. QuickSilver leaps up, pulls Toad to him with his tongue, and nails him in the face with his elbow.

Toad slings him to the ground twice with his tongue. Then, QuickSilver throws a rapid succession of punches and kicks. A bomb exploding near them makes Toad let go of QuickSilver’s neck. While QuickSilver is dazed on the ground an enemy approaches to shoot him. Scarlet Witch makes the weapon fall apart in his hands. She runs up to him, punch, two kicks, lifts him up in the air and throws him back as hard as she can into a tank advancing forward.

The tank shoots at her, but QuickSilver sweeps her off her feet and runs away from the area before the explosion. The impact knocks them forward. The Polish, German army gives them cover fire as the enemy line advances. Another explosion, a wave hits the defense system. They know if they fall back even more, the enemy will destroy the system from long range and overtake them all.

EXT. X-MANSION DRIVEWAY – DAY

BISHOP (LUCAS BISHOP) is out of his vehicle beginning to walk towards the door, when CABLE (NATHAN SUMMERS) drives up recklessly stopping by the front of the door. He hops out.

Jubilee opens the door.

JUBILEE
Hey guys!

BISHOP
Why are we here?!

CABLE
This better be good!

JUBILEE
Nice to see you, too!

BISHOP
Oh —

CABLE
I’m —

She dismisses them with a wave and walks off.

JUBILEE
He’s in there.

FOYER

Professor Xavier comes around the corner.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Thank you both for coming!

CABLE
Short notice!

BISHOP
We’re in the middle of World War III!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
I know, Lucas, that’s why I called. I need your help.

CABLE
With what?!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Come with me!

They head down to the sub-basement.

WAR ROOM

Cable and Bishop follow the Professor.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Different fronts of the war are being covered on television, of course. But I’ve found something very interesting. Look here. Images appear on the monitor.

BISHOP
The frontlines?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Yes. The same heavy security.

CABLE
Professor, it’s the frontline.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Look at the missiles being shot down by the ground-to-air defense system.

CABLE
Xavier —

XAVIER
— Look, Nathan!

CABLE
(pause)
The special technology is in the warheads. I know.

BISHOP
All long range. You think their hiding the missile launchers?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Most of the normal missiles may only have a small amount of this destructive material. Not enough to win a non-nuclear war. These large warheads are the real threat! They don’t want to make them vulnerable on a battlefield.

CABLE
They may have a large supply, but they don’t want to waste it.

BISHOP
If the facility they’re launching them from gets hit, the explosion will ignite the entire area and they’re precious material will be gone up in smoke.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Exactly. However, the mid-air explosions from these warheads have been so massive, no one can consistently get close to the launching sites.

CABLE
Great.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
But that’s not all, Nathan. I’ve been looking over this as well.

CABLE
The day we voted.

More images covered the monitors.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
The investigators found this blue wiring in the buildings on the west coast, but they did not explode like those on the east coast. No one’s been able to figure out why.

BISHOP
You have?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
This energy came from somewhere, or someone.

BISHOP
I heard the U.N. technicians cooked it up.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
They invented the material to contain the energy, but not the energy itself. It’s beyond anything we’ve seen before.

BEAST
(enters the War Room)
I’ve come closer to discovering the origin of this “energy!”

CABLE
Hank!

BISHOP
Hank!

BEAST
My apologies for interrupting, gentlemen.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
What have you found out, Hank?!

Beast plugs a sample into the War Room computer, a projection appears in the middle of the room.

BEAST
This is fascinating, but a deadly energy as well. Highly unstable when it’s not contained properly.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Is this from a mutant, Hank?

BEAST
Unfortunately, it is. However, this mutant is stronger, more powerful than most others. I cannot find a match for this in my database.

CABLE
Wait a minute. Look familiar, Lucas?

BISHOP
Check it.

BEAST
Yes, perhaps this energy was recorded by your system’s database.

Cable takes the sample, plugs it into the computer on his forearm, the database runs.

COMPUTER
Searching. Searching. Searching. Found.

CABLE
Where did you get this sample from, Hank?!

BEAST
The U.S. military was kind enough to share information with me. They came in contact with this substance. One of Jim Slade’s staff was killed by a weapon using this energy.

CABLE
Rosenburg.

BISHOP
So, that’s how they did it!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
What did you find?

CABLE
This substance is from a new mutation.

BISHOP
Mutants made of this solid energy.

CABLE
Hard to kill or even knock off their feet.

BISHOP
They would’ve taken over if their kind didn’t fall into a civil war. No one else could stop them once their power reached its full potential.

BEAST
What are you thinking, Professor?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
That is exactly what must’ve happened on the west coast. Another mutant with this energy stopped those explosions.

CABLE
Their race may be on the rise —

BISHOP
— But they’re conserving energy. It must not be many of them around yet! The mutant must be hiding until he reaches full power.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
(to Bishop)
I’m going to need you and Nathan to be ready at a moment’s notice to track down the mutant who stands in opposition to the source. This person is the only one who can help
the world survive these attacks!

BEAST
How can I help?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Continue to study this sample. Perhaps there’s a weakness we don’t know of.

BISHOP
(to Cable)
Let’s go, I’m ready to shut this guy down!

CABLE
Wait!
(to Professor Xavier)
Professor, we’ll be taking some extra gear. I feel like we’re going to need it.

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Very well, and thank you.

They wave that off and Beat follows them out of the room. Professor Xavier grabs his helmet to Cerebro to search for the source of the energy when Jubilee walks in with a platter.

JUBILEE
Hey, I made you some lunch, when you’re ready to take a break. You do “eat” right?

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Of course, thank you.

JUBILEE
Yeah, well, I still feel bad —

PROFESSOR XAVIER
— I know.

JUBILEE
You’ve always been there for me and —

PROFESSOR XAVIER
— Jubilee, the “X” on your uniform didn’t make you an X-Man. It was the way you stood for what was right. As long as you continue to do this, you will never let me down.

A huge smile comes on her face. She hugs Xavier.

JUBILEE
I’ll let you get back to work.
(begins to leave)
I’m in the living room if you need me!

Xavier gives a smile at her light-hearted attitude, then put on the helmet to Cerebro to continue his search.

EXT. NYC STREETS – DAY

All the regular traffic is blocked off. People are told to continue to stay indoors. A military convoy is still on the move.

INT. MILITARY TRANSPORT

Inside one of the armored vehicles, two soldiers discuss the mission objective.

SOLDIER
Why are we moving her through New York City?

SOLDIER #2
We have orders.

SOLDIER
It doesn’t make sense!

SOLDIER #2
Our forces are spread out along the coast. We had to get her outta Washington, D.C. and link up to the closest military squad possible. The most equipped was already here in New York, a short trip away. We didn’t want an air transfer. Too easy to get shot down.

SOLDIER
This is taking a long time though.

SOLDIER #2
We did make it up here.

SOLDIER
What are we going to do with her?

SOLDIER #2
Keep her contained until further orders. She can’t trick anyone while she’s locked up.

INT. NYC CONDO – LIVING ROOM – DAY

Scott and Jean sit and talk through their feelings.

JEAN GREY
Will you relax?!

CYCLOPS
I am relaxed!

JEAN GREY
No, you’re not!

CYCLOPS
You want me to be at peace while the whole world’s falling apart?!

JEAN GREY
That’s not what I mean!
(pause)
We made a decision to do what’s best for our family.

CYCLOPS
We are, but, these people are trying to take over the globe. Why does this have to happen —

JEAN GREY
— right now.

CYCLOPS
I want to help. I just don’t know how.

JEAN GREY
We’re used to being on the frontlines, leading the way.

Jean Grey slides over on the couch and Scott embraces her, as they look at the horrible news on television. Teary-eyed as they begin to see other X-Men fighting on the battlefields. They get off the couch staring at the television. Jean Grey goes into the bedroom, Scott stays, staring at the screen. Jean Grey comes back to the living room caring sneakers and a jacket.

CYCLOPS
Jean —

JEAN GREY
— We have to do something!

CYCLOPS
But you know this isn’t a good idea!

JEAN GREY
I thought we could run away, Scott. But our friends need our help!

CYCLOPS
What if something happens to you, to the baby?!

JEAN GREY
I won’t be the only pregnant woman fighting in a war, look at them!

Silence.

JEAN GREY
I’m no better than they are…

Scott turns around and slams his hands on the kitchen counter extension. Ready to go, Jean walks over, putting her hand on his back.

JEAN GREY
You are a great husband and father. If you really want to protect us —

CYCLOPS
— I have to put your life in jeopardy?!

JEAN GREY
Our lives are already in jeopardy.

BEDROOM

Scott walks away, to the bedroom, putting on his shoes, grabbing his jacket. He walks to Jean standing in the bedroom doorway.

CYCLOPS
I’m not going to lose you.

JEAN GREY
I’m not losing you either.

They kiss and embrace. As they walk through the living room the ground rumbles. They pause.

CYCLOPS
What was that?!

JEAN GREY
Oh no. I sense —

CYCLOPS
— An attack?

JEAN GREY
The Juggernaut.

CYCLOPS
Let’s go, I’ll call Professor Xavier on the way.

They hurry out the door.

EXT. NYC STREETS

The army convoy is at a halt. It’s the JUGGERNAUT (CAIN MARKO), running through the street. The soldiers’ bullets bounce off of him. They run for cover as he charges at them. Punching the ground, it causes rips in the asphalt. Armored vehicles drive by firing powerful rounds of ammo at him, but nothing effects him. This only angers him more. He picks up a car, throwing it towards the vehicles. They drive away to avoid being knocked off the road. A few soldiers find cover, load, and launch rockets at Juggernaut, but the impact, at best, knocks him off balance.

With a growl, he grabs more cars, tossing them towards the soldiers, the CARS EXPLODE on impact. He runs to a convoy vehicle, lifting it off the road by the rear with one hand, ripping through the armor plating with the other hand, tossing the bay door back down the street, soldiers run to dodge it. Juggernaut looks inside the vehicle, then tossing it aside…

SOLDIER
We have to slow this guy down!

The soldier runs over to an armored vehicle, starts it up, and heads straight for Juggernaut. At full speed, he angles the vehicle, and jumps out before it hits the side of a convoy transport, launches into the air, coming down towards Juggernaut. But Juggernaut grins, pulls his arm back and punches the vehicle back in the opposite direction, EXPLODING as it hits the ground.

INT. MILITARY TRANSPORT

Mystique is encased in glass and steel, soldiers are on-guard as hands come through the middle of the bay door, ripping it in half. The Juggernaut looks up, soldiers began to fire, he throws half of the bay door at them. They duck, but the door slams into the front wall, landing on top of them. He begins ripping the transport apart making room for him to walk to Mystique. Grabbing the case, his hand crushes the glass and metal which falls to the floor.

Kicking away the last parts of the case, Mystique jumps out, but a hot red optic blast streaks passed her head. Cyclops and Jean Grey stand in the distance. Mystique grabs some of the weapons in the transport and began firing back at them.

JUGGERNAUT
I should have known the X-Men wouldn’t stay out of this!

Another optic blast hits Juggernaut knocking him back a few steps further than normal.

JUGGERNAUT
A little more power than before, huh? Well, you still can’t stop me!

He charges at Cyclops.

Mystique jumps to the top of the transport.

CYCLOPS
(to Jean Grey)
Follow her! Don’t lose your link to her mind!

Jean Grey leaps off the ground flying through the air as Mystique changes form into a National Guard soldier. U.S. General Wade Peterson calls out to his men.

PETERSON
Backup Jean Grey. Don’t lose track of her!

Juggernaut picks up the rest of the transport and throws it at Cyclops, who responds by firing his optic blast, pushing the transport into Juggernaut. An armored vehicle drives by and Cyclops jumps on. They drive away from Juggernaut.

CYCLOPS
We have to get him outta the city!

SOLDIER #2
How do we stop him?!

CYCLOPS
We have to get his helmet off! Any reinforcements?!

SOLDIER #2
Most of the F/22s are patrolling Washington D.C. They may give us two at best!

The armored vehicle dashes to the side to avoid a car landing on it and Cyclops blast another car coming through the air at them as Juggernaut takes his shots.

CYCLOPS
What about carrier planes?!

SOLDIER #2
You wanna transport him?!

CYCLOPS
They have the biggest caliber weapons!

SOLDIER #2
I got you, sir! Two are stationed at the airport!

CYCLOPS
We’ll need both of them!

INT. NYC SUBWAY SYSTEM

Jean Grey is pinned against a wall. Mystique’s firing away, ducking for cover. The soldiers return fire. Captain Brenner motions for the team to move in.

JEAN GREY
(to the soldiers)
Wait.

BRENNER
We have to end this, now. The General needs our help!

JEAN GREY
There’s someone else.

Captain Brenner looks around the corner. The lights dim on and off. Three figures, soldiers from the FREEDOM unit, uniforms glowing light lime green, carry energy pulse weapons. The two sides fire at the same time. A few soldiers are stunned, trying to shake off the painful feeling.

SOLDIER #3
What is this stuff?!

BRENNER
Upgrade!

The soldiers switch to more deadly ammo installed in their weapons. More energy pulses fly by, some soldiers returned normal fire, then duck for cover when other soldiers were finished switching their weapons. The larger ammo blasts through the air, grazing one of the FREEDOM soldiers, damaging his armor. Surprised, he motioned for them to move in to take the soldiers out quickly. Bullets
fly passed them and they return fire.

SOLDIER #3
Heads up!

The FREEDOM soldiers are on top of them, punching the weapons out of their hands, then knocking the soldiers back, this way and that.

TERMINAL STOP

Mystique begins to run, but Jean Grey uses her powers to push her into a wall. Jean knocks a FREEDOM soldier to the side, then flies to Mystique before she can recover. Although Mystique is face down on the ground, she kicks up, knocking Jean out of the air to the ground. She leaps at Jean, but Jean pushes her back into the wall. Mystique’s feet hit to wall first, so she pushes off as hard as she can launching herself at Jean Grey.

The two exchanged hits, swinging and kicking. Suddenly, Mystique punches Jean in the stomach. Jean Grey gasped, grabs her by the shirt hitting her again and again, then forces her into the wall. Mystique struggles to get up. She falls unconscious.

SUBWAY HALL

Meanwhile, the soldiers fight the FREEDOM men hand to hand, but the FREEDOM men are stronger because of their suits. As one soldier is thrown, two more jumped on the FREEDOM soldier, wrestling him to the ground. But he throws them off. Another FREEDOM Soldier (FS) grabs his gun, about to fire, but a soldier picks up an energy blaster shooting the FS with it. His armored suit charges up, his hands lights up and as he is about to shoot the soldier, a strong force pushes him off his feet making him miss directly striking the soldier with a huge blast of energy.

Shots ring out towards Jean Grey. She creates a force field to block their fire while soldiers targeted the FSs and FIRE. Jean’s force field weakens and she is pushed back to the ground. But the soldiers get good shots off damaging the FSs’ suits. They moved in quickly to finish them off.

TERMINAL STOP

One soldier cuffs Mystique’s wrists and ankles, throwing her over his shoulder.

SUBWAY HALL

They all head top-side to join the rest of the military.

EXT. NYC STREETS – EVENING

Reaching ground level, they see helicopters flying by, firing away at Juggernaut, who only seems annoyed at their attempts to destroy him.

EXT. COAST OF JAPAN – DAY

The Chinese army is massive. Their navy ships are the frontline, as aircraft have trouble breaking through Japan’s ground-to-air defense system. Like most large countries in the world, Japan eventually concentrated more on defensive weapons than offensive. It was a sign of peace without letting your guard down, considering one day another war could breakout. Today is that day. Smaller Chinese boats head towards Japan’s coast as they launched from battleships. The Japanese navy is having a harder time intercepting the smaller boats. Submarines from both sides battled underneath the water. Missiles whirl by, explosions rising to the surface sending huge blast of water into the air.

Japan’s army is ready along the coast. Sporadic fire rings out towards the smaller vessels approaching the shore. Shots ring back. Once these smaller ships get to within 200 yards of the coast, Japan’s defense system cannons will not be able to target them. Mid-air explosions are deafening as missiles fired from China warships collide with cannon fire from Japan’s defense system.

EXT. JAPAN – FORREST – DAY

Wolverine walks with Japanese Special Forces through a dense forrest. A convoy is moving with them slowly towards the frontlines as the JAPANESE CAPTAIN gives his orders.

CAPTAIN
We have to stop those battleships from getting too close to the shore! Our cannons should be firing at “them”!

WOLVERINE
The General knows if one of those missiles gets through, it may take out the whole system.

DRIVER
(on comm-link)
Get ready! We’re almost —

— At that moment, silver metal stars fly at the vehicle.

DRIVER (CONT’D)
(on comm-link)
We’re being attacked!

More stars fly, the tires are blown out some of their conventional vehicles.

DRIVER #2
Where’s it coming from?!

WOLVERINE
(sniff, sniff)
Oh no. It’s Harada.
(to Driver)
Get this convoy to the frontline now!

The soldiers jump out of the vehicles, some being grazed by silver stars, Wolverine blocks some of them. The soldiers hop aboard more advanced convoy vehicles, hovering over the ground, as they hurry passed the downed vehicles.

Wolverine is runs straight for Silver Samurai, who is leaping from the trees to the ground and back. Wolverine takes out one of his weapons and fires. Samurai dodges and blocks some of the bullets, then throws a star, slicing the top of the gun off as Wolverine closes in. But some of the soldiers in the last armored vehicles open the rear door and fire at Samurai. Again, he dodges and blocks the bullets, but Wolverine has a chance to jump at him, claws extended.

Samurai is quick, however, blocking his claws with his sword. Sparks fly as the two swipe back and forth at each other. Samurai kicks Wolverine back and juts forward to pierce him with his sword, but Wolverine spins aside and slashes the edge of Samurai’s armor with his own sword. More sparks fly and Wolverine’s years of training has kicked in. Samurai spins away throwing stars towards Wolverine, but he blocks some while other stars are implanted into trees.

Samurai is on the move, running as fast as he can after the convoy. Wolverine takes off after him, pulling out another weapon. As he fires, Silver Samurai’s hand lights up, he turns to throw a huge blazing silver star. Wolverine dashes towards the trees and ducks as the silver star buries itself above his head into a tree. Another blazing star flies his way, he rolls and leaps out of the way only to see another large star coming straight from him. With no time to move, he pushes his claws against the star.

As it spins the edges break off, some slicing Wolverine’s skin, sparks flying in his face. He falls back in pain, but hears another blazing stars coming. He kicks his legs up so his momentum can pull him off the ground and forward. The star flies by beneath him. He runs for Silver Samurai who lights up his hand again to throw another star. Wolverine jumps over the star towards Silver Samurai. Samurai
brings his sword up to block Wolverine claws, but Wolverine brings his claws together then swipes them apart with such force that Silver Samurai’s blade breaks and the front of his armor is gashed.

Stunned, he falls back, but Wolverine is on him immediately. He dodges Samurai’s punches and slashing his armor more and more with every swipe. Finally, Samurai’s hand lights up while he’s on his back, punches Wolverine in the air, and throws the star directly at him. But Wolverine is under control, raising both claws, slicing the star in half and digging them into Silver Samurai’s chest. There’s a sudden moment of silence, Wolverine’s wounds began to heal up. He runs off towards the frontlines when he hears a louder explosion than normal.

WOLVERINE
No!

But he knows, a missile got passed the defense system damaging a huge section and the battleships are closing in to finish it off.

EXT. OUTER SPACE – SPACE SHUTTLE

A few astronauts are looking down at the Earth, smoke spreads in the air.

ASTRONAUT #1
Hey, look! Over there!
(pause)
See it?!

ASTRONAUT #2
Oh, that’s “him”.

ASTRONAUT #1
“Him”?

ASTRONAUT #3
Magneto.

ASTRONAUT #1
You can’t be serious.

ASTRONAUT #4
It’s Avalon, where he’s been living since he disappeared.

ASTRONAUT: #1
I didn’t believe the story, until now.
(pause)
Is he in there right now, with the war going on?

ASTRONAUT #2
I haven’t heard any reports mentioning him. Maybe he’s actually tired of fighting.

ASTRONAUT #3
I find that hard to believe! He was the main guy causing all the problems!

ASTRONAUT #1
You think he’s changed?

ASTRONAUT #4
What do “you” think?!

ASTRONAUT #1
He can. Everybody has a choice.

ASTRONAUT #4
Oh my gosh!

ASTRONAUT #2
Time will tell. He could be waiting for the dust to settle before he makes his move.

INT. AVALON – LIVING ROOM

Magneto is looking out of a window at the Earth below. He sees flashes of light, glares from explosions. It looks like the world is falling into chaos. His head drops down, hands on the small table, the room is dark. He turns and walks away.

INT. X-MANSION SUBBASEMENT – EVENING

Bishop and Cable are in the hanger bay awaiting Xavier’s orders.

BISHOP
I’m tired of all this waitin’ around!

CABLE
I’m taking off!

JET HANGER

Cable and Bishop take the walk to the Hanger Bay. Cable engages the boosters and the plane jolts out of the Exit Bay Doors into the sky. Yet they don’t know where to go.

BISHOP
Now what?

Professor Xavier gets their attention through a psychic link.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (O.S.)
Here are the coordinates.

CABLE
This can’t be right!

PROFESSOR XAVIER
Use extreme caution! Hurry!

The jet takes off, going as fast as Cable can push it.

EXT. NYC STREETS – EVENING

Juggernaut has left a trail of destruction in his path. The army is working to get the helmet off of his head so Jean Grey can attack his mind. But the helmet seems to be reinforced to stay on his body. F/16s fly by firing everything they’ve got. Juggernaut responds by throwing light poles at them. The ground forces continue to fall back, dodging whatever projectiles he throws.

Suddenly, three FREEDOM aircraft show up, firing at the soldiers. Everyone runs for cover. One aircraft lands, the bay doors open.

FREEDOM SOLDIER
We got another job for you!

JUGGERNAUT
(sneers)
It’s about time!

He boards the aircraft, the bay door closes. The military tries to fire back, but the other two aircraft in the area fire on them, making them duck for cover again. The three aircraft leave the area.

CYCLOPS
They’re going to Washington?!

PETERSON
My fighters are on their tail. No. They’re going “west”.

CYCLOPS
Whew, we’re catching a break.

They pause and look at each other.

PETERSON
(to Brenner)
Captain, patch me into the War Room.

A few moments later.

BRENNER
Sir, there’s no response.

PETERSON
(comm-link)
Mobile, can you get a response from Command?!

He moves quickly to his armored vehicle, jumps in.

VOICE (O.S.)
(comm-link)
No response, sir!

General Peterson slams his fist on the dashboard.

PETERSON
(comm-link)
Murray! Fields! Your teams stay behind with the National Guard! Everybody else, move out! Now!

The vehicles speed away.

EXT. RUSSIA/MONGOLIAN BORDER – DAY

More ground troops have setup, firing while moving into closer positions behind barricades of tanks.

SOLDIER
They may be running out missiles, sir!

The General looks up, the skies are clearing.

GENERAL
Maybe! But all it takes is one! So, we have to take the ground forces out before they come to us! He looks at Colossus.

GENERAL (CONT’D)
(to the soldiers)
Cover fire!

SOLDIERS
Cover fire!

Colossus takes off, bullets bouncing off of him, Nightcrawler teleports strategically to avoid enemy detection.

EXT. LONDON STREETS – NIGHT

Buildings are on fire and buckling. Along with the enemy forces, Pyro and Avalanche have been demolishing the place. Archangel is too busy in the air avoiding more enemy fighters to consistently help the ground troops. Psylocke is stuck, along with the rest of the squad, trying to avoid Pyro’s fire, Avalanche’s tremors, and the enemy military’s firepower.

AVALANCHE
You’re running outta places to hide! I’ll bring this city to the ground!

He raises his hand to send another rip into the Earth right through the building Psylocke and the soldiers are hiding! But then, he’s grabbed from behind and falls “into” the
ground. Shadowcat surfaces, runs across the battlefield, bullets flying through her. A huge explosion breaks the ground apart beneath her, she falls. Soldiers run out to rescue her. Pyro spots Psylocke in the building.

PYRO
There you are.

Streams of fire rush towards the building, but it’s intercepted by blasts of ice.

The ground breaks open as Avalanche emerges.

AVALANCHE
Where is she?!

He rocks the ground in front of the English army backing him up. Psychic knives fly by, striking him in the shoulder. Led by the Captain and Psylocke, they rush Avalanche as he
grimaces to get the knife out of his shoulder. He sends a rip through the ground, but Psylocke leaps at him kicking him off his feet.

In the meantime, Iceman ice-slides off the roof of the building using an ice blast to hold back Pyro’s flames. The gunfire between the two military forces intensifies. Shadowcat fires her own powerful blasters rocking back the enemy line.

Avalanche swings and kicks at Psylocke, but in hand-to-hand combat, she has the advantage, hitting him enough to keep him off balance and away from using his powers. She takes out her blade slicing through his armored vest. He screams in pain. He begins to rock the ground violently, Psylocke’s hand lights up, extends a psychic knife, pierces his chest. The ground stops shaking.
Psylocke turns around to notice the group of soldiers she was with are surrounding her, firing in all directions, making sure she wasn’t hit while engaged with Avalanche. Iceman rolls forward to avoid a bird made of fire. A flamethrower stream comes at him, but Iceman avoids it. The army moves in the give him cover fire.

ICEMAN
Just you and me!

He fires an ice blast almost striking Pyro’s arm, but Pyro shoots out flames so hot the ice melts on impact.

PYRO
You’ll have to do better than that!

Iceman leaps at him, flames going passed his ear, crushing into Pyro, who lights up his hands with fire. They clash, struggling hand-in-hand. Bullets whirl passed them, but they are only focused on each other. Pyro begins to smile and turns up the heat. But Iceman holds on, firing his ice blast, letting out a loud scream and gives it all he has. Pyro screams. The tubes from the flame-throwing device begin to freeze. Ice begins to cover his backpack holding his fuel, cold vapor rising from it.

Pyro screams still, his flames stop. Iceman rears back and punches him as hard as he can. Pyro flies, landing on his backpack which cracks being frozen as ice. Suddenly, ShadowCat grabs Iceman, startling him. At that moment a tank shell flew through his body and hit a building on the side of him.

SHADOWCAT
We have to get outta here!

ICEMAN
Whoa! Thanks!

LONDON SKY

Dark clouds form, it begins to rain heavily and lightning flashes across the sky. It strikes enemy aircraft left and right. The England Air Force scrambles to avoid the explosions. Archangel gives a smile and pumps his fist. He launches a few more razor-sharp projectiles from his wings destroying enemy planes before he catching a glimpse of Storm. He looks down to see Psylocke, ShadowCat, and Iceman running to a huge plane hovering nearby.

GROUND LEVEL

The Bay Doors open on the huge aircraft as a U.S. Commander steps to the entrance calling to the X-Men.

COMMANDER
We have to get you back to the States, aSAP! We have more trouble than we expected!

They begin boarding the aircraft.

SOLDIER
(to ShadowCat)
Where’d you get weapons like that, Ms. Pride?!

ARCHANGEL
Looks like Forge’s work to me.

ShadowCat turns to see Archangel land. They hug! Iceman runs towards them.

SHADOWCAT
Warren!

ICEMAN
Seen Ororo?

PSYLOCKE
Here she comes!

Storm lands to the embrace of Psylocke.

PSYLOCKE (CONT’D)
Am I glad to see you!

The English Captain runs up to Psylocke.

CAPTAIN
The enemy’s moving back, we’re gonna drive ‘em outta the city! Get moving!

PSYLOCKE
Thank you, Captain!

CAPTAIN
This is my country, too. Thank you.

They shake hands briefly. The bay door begins to close, the aircraft lifts up into the air, takes off.

EXT. WASHINGTON D.C. – NIGHT

The F/22s fly over the Capitol and the White House.

PILOT
I don’t see anything unusual from here, General Peterson!

PILOT #2
I confirm that, sir!

INT. THE WHITE HOUSE – UNDERGROUND

Rumbling can be heard through the hallways of the secret chambers. Suddenly, a door explodes off the hinges and into a wall. The secret service moves the current President down the hall when energy pulses fire in from another hallway. The secret service has upgraded weapons, though being attacked by FREEDOM Units, their weapons are powerful enough to break their armor. The FREEDOM Unit realizes this which prevents them from rushing in to kill the current and future Presidents. As a result, this battle has dragged on much longer than FREEDOM would like or is used to.

Mr. Slade is with his own men and staff, all heavily armed with similar, but even more effective weapons. The downside is, they have no armor, and are not familiar with the underground system around the War Room.

SLADE
It’s like a maze down here!
(pause)
Let’s keep moving.

The group goes through hallways passing different doors, which all look the same. Then shots ring out. The FREEDOM team ran into them.

SECRET CHAMBER

Slade blasts a knob off a door and they all race into the room. They hear the steps of the FREEDOM Unit coming towards the room. But then, a loud bang. Shouts. Shots ring out for a second before FREEDOM soldiers fly passed the door Slade and the others went through. The group looks at each other wondering what is going on before they see Rogue fly by.

STEVE
Rogue!

More shots ring out. Rogue flies back from an energy pulse hit. Glaring streaks of light fly through the hallway.

HALLWAY

Gambit is knelt down, holding Rogue up from the floor. Firing cards at the FREEDOM Unit. But these cards are different. On impact, pieces of metal scattered about, embedding into the FSs’ suits. Gambit is stunned by some energy blasts.

SECRET CHAMBER

Slade and Kent are at the door, firing down the hallway. Slade is hit in the arm by an energy pulse. It starts to burn really badly. He falls to the floor, dropping his weapon, grasping his arm in pain. The FS unit rushes in, more of his staff come to the doorway firing, knocking a few of the soldiers back.

HALLWAY

Rogue jumps up grabbing one of the soldiers by the neck, his blade comes out of his arm band and as he tries to drive it into Rogue’s stomach, she gasped, but a streak of light flies between the two breaking the blade off enough that he only hit her in the stomach with his fist. Rogue throws him against the wall as hard as she can knocking him unconscious. She turns to see a sharp metal playing card stuck in a wall nearby. Rogue looks at Gambit wide-eyed.

GAMBIT
Thank Forge for that one.

The FREEDOM unit is backing up as Slade and his staff become bold enough to fire at them from different doors throughout the hallway. Rogue and Gambit rush forward as the Unit turns down a different hallway backing up. As he runs, Gambit chooses a pair of metal cards, lights them up, and throws them at the end of the hall. The impact causes the Unit to take cover, trying to guard themselves.

HALLWAY #2

Rogue is right on top of them, knocking each member here and there. Gambit rushes passed her, lights another card and throws it, but the FS shoots it out of the air. Still, Gambit leaps forward kneeing him in the face, followed by a kick, knocking him against the wall. He drops his weapon, but his armored mask absorb much of Gambit’s blows. Shots ring out behind Gambit. He hears Rogue being stung by energy pulses, but knows she’ll keep fighting. The FS soldier hits Gambit a few times. He is dazed, but fights back. The FS’s punch hits the wall as Gambit sidesteps him and returns punches and kicks of his own.

The FS recovers quickly, knocking him back to the floor. The FS takes out two blades, glowing lime green, which surprises Gambit for a moment. Charging at him the FS begins swinging his blades, but Gambit extends his upgraded metal rod, blocking the hits, and kicked him back. The FS quickly lunges at him, ripping away the metal rod, and goes in for the kill. Gambit hears Rogue scream.

ROGUE
Remy..!

Before the FS can strike with a straight on blow, Gambit’s hands hold sharp metal cards. The blade rips through the back of Gambit’s jacket.

The FS screams because Gambit has driven his cards through his armor into his shoulder blades fracturing his bones. Gambit lights up another card, at point blank range, launches it into his mid-section knocking him back to the floor. Rogue lands near Gambit. Jim Slade and his staff look on as they bandaged their wounds.

ROGUE
(to Gambit)
Are you —

GAMBIT
— I’m fine, ‘chere. He’d better not get up, though!

SECRET CHAMBER #2

They make it back through the way Rogue came in. Suddenly, the door blows open from an office room, knocking Rogue into the wall and everyone else on their backs. A FREEDOM member stands in the doorway, gun fully charged about to fire on Rogue when a door burst open behind him. Shots ring out hitting the FS squarely. He flies back, weapon firing into the office ceiling creating a huge dent in the thick metal. President Phiillips walks to the doorway.

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
Are you all alright?!

SLADE
You…

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
I couldn’t leave you down here.

Rogue pushes herself out of the dent she made in the wall.

ROGUE
I’ve had it with these boys!

PRESIDENT PHILLIPS
This way. Come on!

The group heads towards the Surface Level.

EXT. NEVADA – AREA 51 – EVENING

Cable and Bishop are flying a smaller, but fast, X-Jet.

BISHOP
There it is.

CABLE
Look at that, Lucas.

BISHOP
Worse than ever.

CABLE
We’ll get shot outta the sky trying to get any closer.

BISHOP
We don’t have time to be “cautious”.

CABLE
Set her down here. We’ll go on the ground.

The jet begins to descend.

EXT. JAPANESE COASTLINE – DAY

Wolverine is in the shadows of the forest nearing the coastline. Explosions are heard in the distance. He and his team lay low. He hears men barking out orders. The Chinese army has flooding the Japanese coastline.

UNDERWATER

It looks calm. A few submarines float by with the enemy’s insignia on them.

DEFENSE BASE

Battleships are along the coastline of Japan, only a fraction of the cannons are left firing away. Although there are destroyed Chinese navy vessels, too many ships have made it to shore, mainly around the area where the defense system was hit. Wolverine and his team move quietly, randomly grabbing enemy soldiers straggling along. The enemy forces were drawn to the gaps in the broken wall.

Quietly, yet efficiently, his team has been picking off many men. The Chinese army knows something is wrong and slows their ground assault. Smaller Japanese cannons are driven to where the wall is
broken, shooting upwards as Chinese aircraft fly overhead to drop bombs on them. The Japanese’s smaller cannons are well-equipped to handle this type of attack. As a result, they have held their own for this long.

Suddenly, a huge wave of Chinese aircraft fly directly towards the ground-to-air defense system. The huge CANNONS FIRE, destroying many of the planes. But a familiar scream also came through the sky that had not been heard in a while. More missiles lined with ultra explosive material. The large cannons cannot adjust to so many multiples targets at once. A wave of missiles get through and entire blocks of the Japanese defense system is destroyed. More Chinese aircraft approach.

Wolverine and his team search for any cover they can find. Multiple bombs fall on the defense system, destroying cannons and equipment that powered the system.

EXT. POLISH DEFENSE BASE – DAY

German and Polish soldiers are advancing against the enemy lines. Russia has taken over some of the Poland missile defense systems to fire their own weapons. Smaller teams have finally penetrated the main base.

GERMAN DEFENSE BASE

But the German defensive system has been broken by enemy forces led by Toad and the Blob. Huge chucks of the walls are crushed along the German border. Enemy troops have advanced to this side of the border and are trying to reach inside the facility to shut down the remaining massive cannons and smaller, but powerful, guns. The Germans fight to keep them back, but they cannot last for
much longer.

INT. CORRIDOR

In the shadows of a building corridor, QuickSilver and the Scarlet Witch hug, tears falling. They know what they must do. QuickSilver is fast, but he’s not invincible. A large group of soldiers stand around them, weapons locked and loaded. They turn to look at them, they shake a few hands. Scarlet Witch presses her lips together as she wraps her arms around QuickSilver’s neck, holding on tight, but it doesn’t seem to bother QuickSilver. He crouches down, Scarlet’s body lights up in a red glow, the soldiers get ready at their positions.

Tanks are approaching the German defense system’s wall with reinforcements behind them. Rockets from the defense system streak across the sky, mainly targeted directly in front of where QuickSilver and the Scarlet Witch want to go.

EXT. GERMAN DEFENSE BASE
Shots ring out. When the tanks begin to return fire, QuickSilver bolts past them with his sister holding on for dear life.

EXT. RUSSIAN MISSILE SITE – DAY

Colossus is blown through a wall and falls back from an explosion from a tank. He is outside of the facility where the special missiles are being fired from. Armies from different countries are united to fight against this base, but the Russians’ strongest defense is here.

BATTLEFIELD FRONTLINES

Omega Red is tracking them down from behind with reinforcements.

MISSILE SITE

Soldiers look back to see enemy tanks on the horizon. They move forward with tanks of their own. Colossus emerges from the rubble only more determined. He grabs an enemy tank and begins to use it as a bat to smash other enemy tanks. The ground troops jump onto this turning of the tide following the “path” Colossus is making.

INT. MISSILE SITE

Nightcrawler is already inside searching for the main room that holds the controls for launching the missiles. Cameras and soldiers monitor the open area that scales several floors. There is a huge explosion above. The guards are shaken out of place and look up to above levels to notice gunfire exchanging. Most rushed to the elevators, only a few stay behind.

FIFTH FLOOR

Nightcrawler was on them in no time. Punching, kicking, and throwing the last guard off a higher level to the floor. Then, he sees energy cells holding people prisoner on the lower level.

GROUND FLOOR

He teleports down to see one man in particular, a SCIENTIST, crying.

SCIENTIST
Mr. Wagner! Please, help us!

NIGHTCRAWLER
What have you done?!

SCIENTIST
I… I… I know how to stop the missiles. I know how to shut down the entire system!

NIGHTCRAWLER
You want me to let you out?! We can destroy it ourselves!

SCIENTIST
No, you don’t understand. The system is linked globally on our network. I can manually shut it down.
(pause)
I’m sorry. I… I didn’t know it would go this —
(gasp)
Look out!

Shots ring down where Nightcrawler stood, but once Nightcrawler saw the man’s expression change, before he even said the words, Nightcrawler had teleported out of the way.

The bullets hit the energy cell, which absorb the ammunition. After knocking out the guards, Nightcrawler teleports back to the cell with a weapon, destroying the console. The energy cell shut down.

NIGHTCRAWLER
Where is it?!

SCIENTIST
Ten levels up. I need to get to it before it’s damaged!

The Scientist points to others still locked up.

SCIENTIST (CONT’D)
Release them! They can help us!

EXT. AREA 51 – EVENING

Cable and Bishop are driving an armored jeep towards a military base. Cable is charging up his gear. Bishop begins to drive cautiously to the military base’s checkpoint. Cable sets his weapon, ready to fire.

BISHOP
This is it.

CABLE
What are we supposed to do? Ask if they’re hiding something inside?

BISHOP
It’s an American military base. We’re Americans “and” they know who we are! At a time like this, they should let us check it out!

CABLE
Tell them that!

The armored jeep slows to a stop as Bishop reaches the checkpoint entrance. A SOLDIER looks wearily at them.

SOLDIER
We’re in the middle of World War III, gentlemen! May I ask why you’re here?!

BISHOP
There could be a threat to the base. You don’t mind the support, do you?

SOLDIER
A threat?!
(pause)
Talk to Commander Johnson, if they’ll let you.

He waves to another soldier.

SOLDIER
Let ‘em through!

Bishop gives a wave and drives off.

EXT. POLAND MISSILE SITE – DAY

QuickSilver dashes here and there avoiding explosions. Tears flow from Scarlet Witch’s eyes as she sporadically causes enemy weapons to decay and fall to pieces. Aircraft fly overhead dropping bombs, clearing a path for QuickSilver. He takes off running, Scarlet begins to scream. Everything around her looks like less than a blur. She feels like she’s going to black out.

SITE ENTRNACE

QuickSilver stops at a large metal door. Scarlet is still clasping onto his neck, her hand comes up, a red glow from her hand, the door begins to quickly rot away, along with the soldiers’ weapons and gear who are guarding the other side of the door. QuickSilver takes his sister in his arms and rushes for the fallen metal door.

INT. MISSILE SITE

He puts her down and she crawls for cover. Bullets ring off the ground as guards from the higher levels descend.

UPPER LEVELS

QuickSilver takes off smashing into one guard after another. But enemy reinforcements are on the way from outside.

QUICKSILVER
That’s gotta be it!

GROUND LEVEL

QuickSilver heads down to the bottom level, mounted machine guns fire at him. He outruns their fire, but the bullets hit a machine causing an explosion. QuickSilver is knocked off his feet, bullets ringing over his body. Suddenly the mounted machine guns begin to fall apart. Scarlet Witch begins to crush them in place. More gunfire comes from the top level. Reinforcements have arrived.

QUICKSILVER
I’ll hold them off!

SCARLET WITCH
Wait, no!

Scarlet Witch is still dazed from the trip. Weak, she stumbles to the huge console. She can hear the missile bay doors nearby beginning to open. She kneels down on the ground, closes her eyes, puts her hands on the main console. Soldiers fire at her from above, bullets fly passed her.

UPPER LEVELS

QuickSilver flies by knocking them aside as he goes from level to level.

GROUND LEVEL

The machine shudders, makes an eerie sound, then a blast comes through the wall in front of Scarlet Witch. Concrete flies all around her. She ducks down, but keeps her hands on the main console. The missiles launch, the soldiers on the bottom level rush in, Scarlet’s hands are still on the console. Then, the eerie sound drops off, the lights fade away. The entire system is shutting down. The lights within the building turn off. The soldiers are wearing night vision goggles, they find Scarlet Witch lying on the ground, aim, but a great explosion occurs. The missiles shut down in mid-air and came back to the ground. The impact rattles the entire base, knocking the guards off their feet.

EXT. POLAND MISSILE SITE – DAY

QuickSilver picks up his sister and runs out to an open area in the middle of the base. His sister is unconscious. The enemy ground troops spot him. He runs behind a jeep and holds his sister as they close in. He thinks about it, but knows if he continues running at a high speed with her, it could very well kill her. Suddenly, gunfire rains down from the sky. German aircraft have arrived being able to fly over this area with no more missiles firing at them from afar. The enemy troops are staggering.

QuickSilver looks in the jeep, the keys are there. He puts his sister in the passenger side and jumps in. As they drive away, troops from inside the base begin firing at them. Bombs began to fall knocking them backwards. QuickSilver lights a flare as he drives to the end of the base sticking it in a crack in the window. Enemy jeeps pursue him, firing their own weapons. Scarlet regains consciousness, crawls to the rear of the armored jeep and begins shooting back with the rear mounted gun. German helicopters fly through the area firing away, but they miss one enemy jeep pursuing QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch.

QUICKSILVER
Here’s our ride!

A helicopter begins to pull near the jeep. He helps Scarlet to the front of the jeep with one arm. Bullets from the enemy jeep behind them are beginning to penetrate the armor plating. The wall to the end of the base is approaching fast.

SCARLET WITCH
Someone’s mounting the small cannon!

QUICKSILVER
Hold on!

An enemy soldier activates the small cannon turrent to fire at the helicopter. Scarlet’s arms were around QuickSilver’s neck again. QuickSilver slides open the door and he jumped towards the side of the helicopter, holding on to its side door.

As the enemy jeep swirls to fire on them, a German helicopter’s small missile strikes the ground behind the jeep catapulting the jeep up and into the small defense cannon on the wall as it prepared to fire. The force from the explosion pushes the helicopter sideways, but the armor holds up. The helicopters speed away into the distance.

EXT. JAPAN COASTLINE – DAY

Waves of Chinese and North Korean forces storm through Japan’s Defensive Wall. Japan’s large cannons are destroyed. Only small cannons remain and they are being targeted by the ground assault as they come onshore.

JAPANESE DEFENSE BASE

Wolverine and Japanese Special Forces are running to a large facility.

INT. BASE ELEVATOR

They take an elevator underground.

WOLVERINE
What is this place?

GENERAL
The pride of Japan.

Wolverine didn’t known what to make of that, so he dismissed questions and kept silent, checking his weapons.

UNDERGROUND CONTROL ROOM

The elevator doors open and he can’t believe his eyes. There are large units of vehicles overlaid in a type of armor he has never seen before. All white, accented by a large red dot a simple design, the Japanese flag. The facility is state-of-the-art, spared no expense.

GENERAL
The greatest Japanese military minds and engineers built new technology, weapons to combat potential new threats!

WOLVERINE
This is… I’ve never seen —

GENERAL
— Anything like it. Precisely what we had in mind. The Captain will brief you on the way.

SOLDIER
Excuse me, General!

GENERAL
Where are they?

SOLDIER
They’re taking out all of the smaller cannons, we only have a few left. Their aircraft are approaching fast, in mass, sir.

GENERAL
Now, is the time. Man your stations!

Wolverine expects droves of soldiers to get aboard armored vehicles, but most of them stay in the base, sitting behind huge consoles. Only special teams trained to use these advanced armored vehicles get onboard them. At that moment, an even more unique vehicle cataches his eye. He stops in his tracks.

GENERAL
I thought you might like it, Logan.

WOLVERINE
Can you teach me how to drive it?!

GENERAL
Captain!

CAPTAIN
Sir?!

GENERAL
Load the small unit for Logan.

CAPTAIN
Right away, sir!

The Captain didn’t move, he opened a lid on his arm band, pressed a few buttons on the screen. The carrier the small unit is resting on, springs to life and hovers onboard followed by Wolverine.

Another soldier walks up to Wolverine, giving him a black, light-armored suit folded in a display case. The rear door closes.

WOLVERINE
Oh, I’m gonna like this.

The General turns away as the vehicles leave, smoothly, quickly, with little noise compared to other armored vehicles.

GENERAL
How many of their forces are within our range?

OPERATOR
Scanning, more than half, sir.

GENERAL
Everyone, remember your training, stay alert. Let us begin!

EXT. JAPAN INLAND – DAY

The Chinese and North Korean ground troops are walking well beyond the shoreline passed the military facilities. Suddenly, pieces of the ground lift up. Small, but powerful guns begin to fire, taking the troops by surprise. The large mass of aircraft from China fly further inland and begin to drop bombs when powerful lasers fire into the air cutting the wings off of planes and cutting some planes in half. The Japanese lured them in, towards their more advanced weapons and now the enemy ground and air assault has difficulty backing out without being destroyed. As enemy tanks drive through, they have a hard time figuring out where the rockets are being shot from. All along the coast of Japan the enemy forces, air and ground, are being shot at from two sides by advanced weapons.

INT. POLAND MISSILE SITE

Nightcrawler is in the grasp of Omega Red, being drained of his energy. A powerful grenade is launched and hits Omega Red in the back. It causes him to lose his focus enough to allow Nightcrawler to teleport away.

UPPER LEVEL

Nightcrawler appears on a higher level passed out, drained of energy.

GROUND LEVEL

Colossus lays on the floor, concrete surrounding and on top of him. He struggles to get up.

SIDE ROOM

The Scientist is trapped, enemy soldiers are closing in. He is guarded by Russian soldiers who were also kept in energy cells for betraying their country. One of them is on the radio trying to call for backup.

SIDE ROOM #2

More enemy fire breaks the wall behind them. They fall back into that room.

SCIENTIST
Look! Weapons!

SOLDIER
These are the weapons that can freeze Omega Red!

They crawl across the floor towards the casing, but a FREEDOM unit is closing in. They continue to fire, destroying some of the special weapons. One soldier tosses a grenade. The explosion halts the unit’s aggressive charge.

SCIENTIST
These are all we have left!

SOLDIER #2
Get down!

A huge explosion rocks the back of the office building catapulting the soldiers and scientists forward.

GROUND LEVEL

Omega Red picks up Colossus, wrapping one tentacle around his neck, one around his waist, and begins to pull him apart. His organic metal is being stretched. Colossus lets out a scream and Omega Red begins to pull more and more. Omega Red screams. Looking down at his lower leg, it is frozen solid.

Omega glares at the Scientist, the one who revived him, lying on the ground, bleeding from his head, holding the weapon that could freeze him. Omega screams and whips Colossus at such speed towards him, the scientist freezes in unbelief. Before Colossus lands on the Scientist, Colossus vanishes. Nightcrawler teleported, grabbed Colossus and teleported away. The Scientist grimaces because of the smell from the trail of brimstone smoke. He hears a whirling sound as his fellow soldiers shoot the two freezing weapons at the FREEDOM unit.

Omega Red’s tentacles are about to grab him at that very moment when the Scientist shoots him again, hitting his chest. This time, the Scientist keeps his finger on the trigger. The ice expands all the way to the ends of Omega Red’s tentacles. The FREEDOM soldiers are retreating as streaks of ice blue beams pass by them, some holding their frozen limbs, screaming in pain. Nightcrawler teleports in front of the Scientist with Colossus in regular form.

SCIENTIST
Take him to the fourth level. The machine there holds a power similar to his own energy. We were trying to duplicate his organic metal.

NIGHTCRAWLER
You’re —

SCIENTIST
— I’ll be fine.

SOLDIER #3
Go! Go!

CONTROL ROOM

The soldiers help the wounded scientist into another room. The Scientist struggles to the console, the soldiers follow him. He begins to type commands into the computer. The console makes a loud whirling noise as the entire system is being accessed. The soldiers are wounded as well, bleeding, but holding their weapons towards to door.

HOLDING ROOM

The elevator opens, Nightcrawler teleports Colossus to the front of a huge machine, energy streaming through clear tubes. He tries to help him up as Colossus encases his body back into its metal form. Nightcrawler backs away as Colossus puts his hand on the tube, compressing his hand to pierce the casing, the energy seeps out into his organic metal. Colossus’ body begins to glow so brightly, Nightcrawler backs further away covering his face. Colossus takes it all, draining the energy the scientists created so far from the machine. He runs for the elevator in a rage, Nightcrawler follows from a distance.

GROUND LEVEL

The elevator door opens and he runs straight for the frozen Omega Red. He stops in front of him, glaring into his frozen eyes, his hands began to charge with energy, he rears back, and punches away at the figure, breaking Omega Red’s frozen body apart in only a few blows.

HALLWAY

He rushes to the front entrance of the base, Nightcrawler already waits there.

EXT. POLAND MISSILE SITE

Colossus bursts out from behind the last set of doors to find the Russian army being pushed back. Missiles in the distance are falling out of the sky. The “energy” had been shut down along with most of the base’s defenses. Nightcrawler motions for the soldiers to search below ground. Aircraft hovering nearby take Colossus and Nightcrawler away.

EXT. JAPAN COASTLINE – DAY

A large convoy and aircraft from the Australian military have arrived, firing away at the enemy army and navy. Missiles fire out of the water from enemy submarines to intercept them.

INLAND

Wolverine is on the move. His claws rip through the side of an armored vehicle as he and a small group ride on motorcycle-like vehicles. Mobile, light, but sturdy. No wheels, it hovers over the ground. They approach an open area, enemy ground troops and armored vehicles race towards them. Wolverine presses the screen on the console, weapons emerge from the sides of the vehicle, firing bullets that look more like blue lasers that penetrate everything in their way.

A blinking red square appears on the vehicle small monitor “Urgent Message”. He presses the screen button, the message reads:
“Wolverine, Needed in the U.S.”

He speeds up, blasting his way through ground forces.

COASTLINE

The transport vehicles are traveling in small groups engaging the enemy.

INT. TRANSPORT VEHICLE

A soldier is at a console’s touch-screen, inputting commands. Guns built into the unit are firing away. Bullets, even rockets, seem to have little to no effect on the special armor of these units.

EXT. COASTLINE

The Chinese, North Korean army is massive, but they are being overwhelmed by the complex weapons of the Japanese. Many squads begin to retreat, while the Japanese army intensifies their fire and pursuit of them with the aid of the Australian forces.

INLAND

Wolverine’s cycle speeds towards an open area where one of Japan’s advanced jets awaits. The bay door is open.

INT. AREA 51

Cable, Bishop, and Shawn Johnson are walking down a corridor.

SHAWN JOHNSON
As you can see, gentlemen, we are perfectly fine here. It’s the rest of the world you have to worry about.

CABLE
I’m not worried.

CENTRAL AREA
They reach an open area, several corridors leading in different directions.

SHAWN JOHNSON
(pause)
Well, I guess —

CABLE
— What’s over there?

SHAWN JOHNSON
That is…

BISHOP
What?

SHAWN JOHNSON
Gentlemen, this is classified information —

CABLE
— Un-classify it!

SHAWN JOHNSON
(pause)
Fine.

BISHOP
You’re gonna tell us the real story?

SECURITY CELLS

They reach a secure area. Johnson unlocks the security through a console. The doors open.

CORRIDOR #2

As they walk down a hall, they see holding cells, but one is active near the end of the corridor.

SHAWN JOHNSON
We discovered the source behind the explosions. Bishop stops him. Johnson shrugs his hand away.

BISHOP
And you didn’t bother to tell anybody?!

SHAWN JOHNSON
I told you, this is classified information!

He walks off. They follow.

SHAWN JOHNSON (CONT’D)
Through hours of research, we found the technology to contain it.

CABLE
In a holding cell?

They stop in front of an energized door, Johnson pushes buttons on a touch screen, another monitor come alive.

BISHOP
A teenage girl?!

SHAWN JOHNSON
I know, it’s hard to believe. Her mutant abilities are off the charts. I don’t think she knows how to control her powers.

CABLE
Hmm, she looks scared.

SHAWN JOHNSON
We don’t have a choice. She’s a danger to everyone!

BISHOP
Why not call Professor Xavier? I’m sure —

SHAWN JOHNSON
— Professor Xavier made it quite clear that he does not want to get involved with government affairs. And besides, we can handle this.

CABLE
I take it she’s not going anywhere for a while. What about her parents?

SHAWN JOHNSON
They understand. This is about our nation’s security!

Johnson turns off the monitor.

BISHOP
There’s gotta be better way to handle this.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Don’t worry, Bishop. We’ll take care of it.
(pause)
I’ll show you gentlemen out.

ELEVATOR

They take an elevator back to the ground floor.

EXT. AREA 51 – NIGHT

An armored jeep pulls up, along with other armored vehicles.

BISHOP
Thanks, Mr. Johnson.

SHAWN JOHNSON
If you come across any important Intel, just let us know.

Bishop gives a wave, Cable follows Bishop into the jeep they drove up in and the convoy drives off towards the checkpoint.

EXT. AREA 51 – NIGHT

As they drive, Bishop and Cable talk about what just happened.

BISHOP
I forgot to ask him something.

CABLE
Say it.

BISHOP
How did the Russian army find out about a teenage girl with mutant powers that could be used to improve their military weapons and armor?

CABLE
You wanna go back and ask him?

CHECKPOINT

Bishop only gives Cable “a look”. They drive through the checkpoint.

BISHOP
You think he’s lying?

Cable gives Bishop “a look”.

CABLE
He tried to get us outta there without telling us about the girl. He’s holding something else back. If the Russians kidnapped her for her mutant ability, we never saw that on the news. Then the U.S. has
to get her back “from Russian territory” —

BISHOP
Didn’t see that on the news either —

CABLE
— To bring her to Area 51!
(pause)
Xavier knows something’s wrong.

BISHOP
We still don’t have any proof of that!

Bishop makes a weird face as he looks into the rear-view mirror. Cable looks back. A long line of armored vehicles are beginning to guard the Area 51 perimeter.

BISHOP
They’re loading up —

Cable takes out his weapon.

BISHOP
— like the base is about to be —

— They hear GUNFIRE in the distance. Aircraft fly overhead.

CABLE
American! F/22s!

BISHOP
Are they attacking their own base?!

Bishop whirls the jeep around, going in the direction the F/22s are heading.

BISHOP (CONT’D)
Maybe somebody found out about the girl! We gotta get back to her!

CABLE
Stories down?! Not through the checkpoint!

BISHOP
Look!

Planes fly by, shooting towards the ground with energy pulses.

CABLE
The enemy probably tried to duplicate the girl’s power.

BISHOP
Not as effective as they thought it would be?!

CABLE
Probably not, the girl’s too young to have reached full strength! She’s locked up tight though, we might need a plan to get her out!

They speed over the sand, passing the boundaries of Area 51. FREEDOM aircraft are still in the distance, shooting towards the ground. The F/22s fly by again straight for these aircraft.

BISHOP
Who’s on the ground out there?!

CABLE
Hopefully, the X-Men.

EXT. NEVADA DESERT – NIGHT

Cable is right. Along with military forces from New York City, Cyclops and Jean Grey fight FREEDOM as well as the Juggernaut. There are aircraft from both sides smoking in the distance after crash landing. F/22s drop bombs on Juggernaut, FREEDOM men get knocked off their feet yards away from the impact. FREEDOM aircraft begin to trail the F/22s shooting one of them down. It is a desert and mountainous area. Sand covers the landscape. Juggernaut charges directly for Cyclops and Jean Grey. Cyclops fires his optic blast, with little effect. Jean charges her telekinetic ability as much as she can, then shoots out a powerful force actually knocking Juggernaut on his back.

The soldiers rush beside them and fire powerful light cartridges as Juggernaut gets up in a rage. The cartridges hit him and explode revealing such an intense light, he has to cover his eyes. More FREEDOM transport aircraft arrive in the distance, armored vehicles unload, convoys of upgraded vehicles race towards the soldiers. They began firing blast of energy pulses. Cyclops, Jean Grey, along with the rest of the soldiers fall back. Then, Ally reinforcements show up. Aircraft begin firing at FREEDOM battalions on the ground.

IN THE SKY

An aircraft carrier flies overhead, lower to the ground than usual. Archangel, Psylocke, Iceman, Storm, and ShadowCat emerge. Archangel has Psylocke by the waist as he streaks through the air avoiding energy blasts.

NEVADA DESERT

Cyclops spots the aircraft carrier.

CYCLOPS
(to soldiers)
Cover them!

Bishop and Cable drive by, firing out of their armored jeep. Soldiers step-up, firing away at FREEDOM ground forces.

IN THE SKY

After free-falling for a while, with ShadowCat on his back, Iceman creates a slide and heads towards the soldiers.

NEVADA DESERT

ShadowCat phases, grabs her weapons, and fires away as she lands on the ground. She uses the armored vehicles as cover. Clouds fill the sky, lighting flashes and begins to strike enemy aircraft as Storm flies overhead. Juggernaut is on the run, his sight slowly recovering, he’s charging through whatever is in front of him.

PETERSON
Clear out! Clear out!

SOLDIERS
Move! Move!

Everybody moves back as they fire more intense light cartridges, he knocks some away, but holds one arm over his eyes. A B2 Bomber flies over dropping a bomb right next to Juggernaut. It digs into the ground and explodes leaving a deep hole. Juggernaut in not harmed, but he falls as the hole expands. The ground rocks as more FREEDOM aircraft show up, deploying specially armored vehicles.

SOLDIER
(to Peterson)
It’s tough for our weapons to penetrate that armor, sir!

PETERSON
(comm-link)
Everybody get to the base! Get to the base!

More FREEDOM planes fly over, firing down on the ground forces. Archangel dives towards them, gashing the aircraft with his wings and avoiding return fire. The soldiers steadily move back as vehicles are deploying from the carrier planes. The FREEDOM vehicles are closing in.

IN THE SKY

Storm stops in mid-air, lifts her arms and the wind begins to pick up. It blows so strongly towards the FREEDOM ground forces, some of the vehicles flip up off the ground. But she’s fired upon and struck by FREEDOM aircraft from long range. Archangel catches her as she falls out of the sky. Storm’s attack stalled FREEDOM enough for the soldiers to jump in their armored vehicles and speed towards the base.

TO AREA 51

As they made their way across the desert sand, aircraft from both sides streaked across the sky, engaged in a dogfight. Energy blasts and missiles exchanged. F/22s do their best to keep the FREEDOM aircraft from destroying the ground troops as they go across the desert plain.

AREA 51 OUTSKIRTS – NIGHT

Nearing the base, large cannons come alive, a loud alarm is heard, the troops on the ground at Area 51 prepare to fire. Once the FREEDOM aircraft are in range, the Area 51 cannons fire.

AREA 51

The soldiers make it. They drive through the guarded perimeter and the Area 51 ground troops began firing on the FREEDOM ground forces.QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch are already with a group of
soldiers on the perimeter.

AREA 51 OUTSKIRTS

From behind the FREEDOM ground forces, another transport aircraft flies low above the ground. The bay door opens, Colossus and Nightcrawler leap out and head for the enemy.

AREA 51

A hanger bay door opens. Rogue takes off through the sky heading towards enemy aircraft. Gambit is apart of the reinforcement convoy below, sitting in the rear of the armored vehicle adding smaller weapons to his unique armor. It is all out war. The first large scale battle on U.S. soil in World War III. It will be the last.Storm has built smaller groups of clouds above part of Area 51’s base. Sporadic bolts of lightning keeps FREEDOM aircraft cautious of the area. Cyclops and Jean Grey stand near her. Cyclops uses his optic blast to protect his wife and back-up Storm. Jean Grey is using a force field to block long range enemy fire. The rest of the X-Men have fallen into teams of two.

THIRD LEVEL

Psylocke is at an elevated position on the base, keeping an eye on Archangel as he streaks through the sky. She throws psychic knives and fires her own powerful weapon damaging enemy aircraft.

GROUND LEVEL

Iceman and ShadowCat are bold enough to pick off ground vehicles. Iceman freezes the armor plating, ShadowCat blasts it with her weapons, phasing when necessary to avoid enemy fire. Gambit has his eye on Rogue as she barrels through ground forces. He fires his own weapons, causing as much damage as possible. QuickSilver is at the other end of the field with his sister, Scarlet Witch. The FREEDOM soldiers try to get a beat on him as he speeds through their forces. Scarlet’s hands light up, the FREEDOM armored vehicles in the immediate area begin to fall apart. QuickSilver fires weapons as soldiers exit the vehicles and fire at Scarlet.

AREA 51 OUTSKIRTS

Colossus and Nightcrawler are still picking their way through the enemy ground forces. Nightcrawler is teleporting inside the armored vehicles and fighting the drivers. Colossus is simply punching and kicking them with all his might as they fire energy pulses at him stunning and knocking him back. An enemy ground transport drives up and Juggernaut emerges, breaking through the bay doors running straight for the perimeter of Area 51.

Shots rain down on him. It’s the Blackbird. Upgraded armor, Professor Charles Xavier at the controls, Beast and Jubilee sitting in the seats beside him controlling firepower added onto the X-Jet. On the horizon, a glare of light can be seen…a sleek, white plane, flying low to the ground. A door on the bottom of the plane descends and Wolverine sits on his motor-vehicle, still dressed in the black armor. He takes off, accelerating across the sand. He begins to fire at the FREEDOM ground forces with the vehicle’s mounted weapons. Juggernaut plows through tanks and armored vehicles, as well
as picking some of them up and throwing them across fields of sand. Rogue flies straight into his stomach as he charges forward, knocking him back as far as she can.

INT. AREA 51 BASE

Bishop and Cable run down corridors passing rooms by.

CABLE
This way!

BISHOP
How do we know she really isn’t the threat?!

CABLE
Gut feeling.

BISHOP
Say again?

CABLE
The enemy’s not attacking the base, they’re hitting our army! They just want the girl. There it is!

Cable punches the code in, the doors open to the holding cells.

SECURITY AREA

They run down the corridor to where the girl is being kept. Another door at the end of the hall opens.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Cable, Bishop, what are you doing down here?!

CABLE
I think the girl can help us stop FREEDOM.

BISHOP
She’s coming with us. Outta the way!

Cable and Bishop run forward, but Johnson fires a bright, purple beam shocking Cable and Bishop. Cable falls back unconscious, but Bishop absorbs the energy.

BISHOP
You shot the wrong guy!

Bishop’s shoots beams of energy at Johnson, pushing him backgrounds. But someone hits him from behind with a large shield. Bishop is out cold. Heather Johnson stand over Bishop in a dark uniform. The same energy from Shawn flows through an updated, more powerful version of the FREEDOM uniform.

EXT. AREA 51 BASE – NIGHT

The FREEDOM forces are finally weakening. More aircraft and military forces from around the world have shown up on U.S. soil. The X-Men have converged on Juggernaut. There was another fight in the distance. FREEDOM forces dropped Blob and Toad onto the battlefield. The two made their way to the perimeter.

The Blackbird flies overhead firing away at the two of them. Toad leaping out of the way and Blob picked up a piece of an armored vehicle tossing it at the plane. The Blackbird dodges the projectile and hovers near the ground next to armored jeeps. Jubilee jumps out of the base of the Blackbird and hops into an armored jeep. She heads straight for the Blob, full speed.

BLOB
Come on!

Part of the armored roof above her head opens, sliding back. Jubilee puts her feet in the seat, leaps up, the jeep passes under her. Right before the armored vehicle hits Blob, Jubilee fires huge beams of plasma energy from her hands, striking the armored jeep. It explodes sending the Blob reeling back. Toad leaps at her from behind, tongue extending, Jubilee quickly turns, fires more energy knocking him out of the air. She fires at multiple targets as Beast rides up in an armored vehicle providing cover fire. Jubilee hops in, firing at enemy forces. Beast floors it. The Blackbird flies overhead to the Area 51 base. Most of the FREEDOM forces are focused on backing up Juggernaut, keeping the X-Men and Ally forces away.

AREA 51 PERIMETER

Juggernaut’s hands are buried in a large cannon’s foundation. The weight at the top begins to buckle the unstable foundation. Wolverine is still on his motor-vehicle from the Japanese heading through the FREEDOM forces in front of Juggernaut right to him. He dials controls on the touch screen on his arm, then leaps onto Juggernaut’s back, slashing away at the base of his helmet. Juggernaut grabs him and begins to crush his body. Rogue flies in carrying Colossus. He runs at Juggernaut knocking him forward, he drops Wolverine. Rogue begins punching him in the face. Juggernaut knocks her back.

Colossus hits Juggernaut twice, an enemy’s large energy blast knocks him back. Archangel swoops in carrying Psylocke and fires sharp projectiles at Juggernaut’s helmet. Psylocke creates a long, blazing psychic knife cutting at Juggernaut’s helmet as they fly by. An energy blast knocks them out of the sky. Juggernaut begins to charge at them, but a sheet of ice forms on the ground making him fall. The helmet is loose. Juggernaut grabs at it, huge bolts of lightning rain down on him, an optic blast fires at him from Cyclops, and plasma blasts from Jubilee finally knock the helmet off.

Juggernaut grabs his helmet and begins to hold it down on his head when Colossus runs up behind him, grabs him around his waist, picks Juggernaut up, and bends backwards slamming
Juggernaut on his head. The helmet cracks, falling away. At last, Juggernaut’s mind is unguarded, Jean Grey begins attacking it from behind armored vehicles, Cyclops guards her along with other soldiers. Juggernaut grabs his head, screaming. He can’t take it anymore, he falls unconscious.

A new wave of fighters come through, pounding the FREEDOM ground forces with bombs. A new ground team begins to pick up the X-Men from various areas on the battleground and they all head for the main entrance of the Area 51 base.

AREA 51 PERIMETER ENTRANCE

As they arrive, some of the soldiers begin to cheer all throughout the base, holding weapons in the air.

INT. AREA 51 LOADING AREA

Monitors throughout the base show different battlegrounds around the world as the enemy forces are retreating and being overwhelmed. World War III is coming to an end.

MEDICAL LAB

Soldiers and X-men are in the middle of being treated for their wounds. Suddenly, the lights begin to flicker throughout the base.

LOADING AREA

Everyone on various floors pause. Beams of light-purple light dance across the walls sporadically.

PETERSON
(comm-link)
Control room, where is this coming from?!

VOICE (O.S.)
Not sure, sir. It may be underneath the base!

The base lights begin to break.

PETERSON
(comm-link)
Lock and load! Move! Move!

The beams of light intensify, moving along the walls, now the floors.

Jean’s eyes are closed, sensing for the source.

JEAN GREY
Whatever it is, Scott, it’s coming towards us!

CYCLOPS
(to everyone)
Let’s go!

The elevator doors leading down to the lower levels blow forward. A Dark Figure levitates above the ground coming towards them. He begins firing powerful beams of light, destroying vehicles on impact. The ground forces begin to race back to the Area 51 Perimeter fence as they return fire. The Dark Figure has a force field surrounding him, bullets bounce off, energy blasts are absorbed.

EXT. AREA 51 PERIMETER – NIGHT

The Dark Figure levitates higher in the air, the ground forces below fire up at him, the air forces above him fire down at him. He is not phased by their firepower. Although the air and ground forces have grown dramatically, they cannot get passed his force field. He is picking them apart.

INT. AREA 51 – SECURITY AREA

Huge doors at the end of the hall begin to crumble like paper. They fly down the corridor. Forge looks around the corner, weapon in hand, runs down the hall towards the main entrance to the holding cells. As he reaches the entrance, an explosion blows the doors out, the force knocking him on his back. He leaps up and runs to the entrance returning fire. More beams of purple light fly towards him. He dodges some, but one grazes his arm, spinning him backwards and to the ground. Heather Johnson stands at the end of the corridor. Another beam of light comes directly for him, but hits a force field before striking Forge.

HOLDING CELL CORRIDOR

Magneto hovers above ground, making his way down the corridor.

MAGNETO
(to Forge)
We don’t have much time!

He lands on the ground, holding out his arms, blocking the beams of light coming at him. But they come at such intensity his force field is beginning to fail.

MAGNETO
Hurry!

Another impact hits the force field and Magneto falls back. Forge fires at Heather. She leaps out of the way. Metal flies from vacant holding cells at Heather. She has to take cover
in the room behind her. Forge runs closer to Sarah’s holding cell firing away. Heather returns fire. Forge leaps out of the way. Magneto fires a beam of magnetism knocking her back. Forge makes it to the console. Magneto puts up another force field as he races towards Forge. Heather’s weapon lets out a constant beam of energy that Magneto struggles to hold back…

MAGNETO
It’s absorbing my..!

Forge’s hand hurries over the touch-screen looking for a way to unlock the door. Magento’s force field began to crack.

MAGNETO
I —

— The beam shatters the force field. Magneto and Forge fly backwards, but the power grid on the holding cell has dropped. Heather is about to fire on Magneto and Forge again when Sarah Johnson exits the holding cell, hand extending, charging her power. Heather looks at her daughter, eyes wide. The energy within Heather’s suit and weapons begin to surge, then power down. The effects shock Heather and she falls to the floor.

BACK ROOM

Sarah races to her.

SARAH
Mom… Mom!

Sarah lifts her up onto her knees.

MAGNETO
This is your mother?!

SARAH
Yeah!

FORGE
You have the ability to shut their powers down?!

SARAH
My dad, I don’t know. He’s so strong!

MAGNETO
We must go now. He’ll destroy everyone.

SARAH
You’re going to kill him?!

MAGNETO
He hasn’t left us much of a choice!

HOLDING CELL CORRIDOR

Forge runs over to another console, going from screen to screen. The holding cells deactivate, Bishop and Cable exit them.

BISHOP
Magneto!

MAGNETO
Thank Forge for finding a way to contact me. He can be very convincing.

CABLE
(to Sarah)
Kid, we need you top-side, now.

SARAH
But I —

FORGE
— You’re the only one who can stop him.

SARAH
I…

BISHOP
Come on!

They run down the corridor towards the elevator. Magneto
levitates and follows.

EXT. AREA 51 BASE – NIGHT

The ground forces are spread out. Aircraft are scattered over the desert plane, burning. Another wave of fighters are passing by overhead, firing at the Dark Figure, Shawn Johnson, still unable to break his field force. He fires beams of light at them. They move evasively, some are struck, exploding in mid-air. Jean Grey has taken cover behind armored vehicles holding Cyclops in her arms. Blood falls from scars on his face and body from shrapnel. She cries.

Nearby, Gambit holds Rogue close to him. She is unconscious. The Blackbird is in the distance, crashed into the ground, smoke pouring from the rear of the plane. Colossus is firing a weapon towards Shawn from behind tanks. Nightcrawler lays on the ground, not moving. Iceman and Psylocke lie on the ground. ShadowCat is on her knees holding Archangel. QuickSilver is bandaging up wounds on Scarlet Witch as she grimaces in pain. Jubilee is firing beams of plasma energy at Shawn while a medical team works on Wolverine who lying on the ground, not moving.

EXT. CALIFORNIA COASTLINE – NIGHT

The Pacific Ocean. A massive navy convoy made up of various countries is almost in position along the coast of California. A NAVY GENERAL is on the phone with Jim Slade, who is still in Washington D.C.

NAVY GENERAL
This has to be done! Satellites are showing us this thing is in a fixed position, if we don’t take him out now, who knows where he’ll strike next!

CUT TO:

SLADE
General, there are people down there!

CUT TO:

GENERAL
You can’t override the President “and” the other U.N. ambassadors! If this last wave of fighters can’t take him down, we’re gonna hit ‘em with everything we’ve got!

CUT TO:

SLADE
You owe the X-Men time, that’s the least you can do!

CUT TO:

NAVY GENERAL
(pause)
I have my orders. I’m sorry.

SLADE
General —

— The Navy General hangs up the comm-link and patches into another channel.

NAVY GENERAL
Make sure we have an accurate lock on the target!

Weapons aboard the naval ships adjust.

EXT. AREA 51 BASE – NIGHT
Stragglers from the previous Ally wave attack Shawn sporadically, still with no effect. A new wave of fighters is on the horizon and begin firing upgraded weapons from the Japanese at him. The lasers bounce around his shield and he returns fire knocking planes out of the sky. Suddenly, his force field weakens, lasers begin to break through, striking him, he falls to the ground.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah.

Sarah stands behind him, a small force field surrounding her. Shots from the Air Force come down in waves. Shawn charges his energy which heals his wounds slowly, but surely. He raises his force field again as he glares at Sarah.

SARAH
Dad, you have to stop!

SHAWN JOHNSON
You don’t run things here, young lady!

SARAH
Why are you doing this?!

SHAWN JOHNSON
Don’t you see, Sarah?! Look at us! We have the power to control this world for generations to come!

SARAH
I don’t want control!

Shawn slowly walks in her direction.

SHAWN JOHNSON
I can teach you how to use your power, Sarah. You’re already stronger than I was at your age.

Sarah backs away, holding out her hand, as he gets closer.

SARAH
Stop!

SHAWN JOHNSON
(pauses)
Are you going to let them kill me?

SARAH
No. But if you’re going to destroy the world…
(pause)
I don’t want to be here to see you do it.

Sarah drops her force field as aircraft fire beams down at them. She is hit multiple times and falls back to the desert sand.

Shawn screams.

SHAWN JOHNSON
No! Sarah!

Shawn runs to her and sends charges of energy into her body, but Sarah is rejecting it.

SHAWN JOHNSON
What are you doing?!
(pause)
Heal yourself! Sarah!

Heather runs towards the two of them and falls at Sarah’s head.

SHAWN JOHNSON
(to Heather)
She’s not letting me heal her!

HEATHER JOHNSON
Sarah, sweetie, don’t do this!

Sarah’s eyes are barely open, she looks at her dad.

SARAH
Promise me.

SHAWN JOHNSON
What?!

SARAH
You’ll stop fighting.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Use your powers to —

SARAH
— Promise me!

Shawn looks at Heather, who’s in tears.

HEATHER JOHNSON
Shawn!

SARAH
I love you.

Sarah’s head leans back, her eyes close. Shawn looks toward the sky as he screams, blasting a huge bolt of energy through his eyes. The ground forces have surrounded them. Blue smoke from
flares lift into the sky. The Air Force has stopped firing without Shawn, Heather, and Sarah noticing. From his head first, Shawn’s altered form fades away on down to his feet. He is regular Shawn Johnson again, holding his daughter, his wife holding both of them.

The medical team comes from the inside of the base. While the military teams take Heather and Shawn, putting special cuffs on them, the medical team moves in and places Sarah on a gurney.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Sarah! Use your power! Use your power!

INT. AREA 51 BASE – LOADING AREA

The medical team rushes Sarah to the elevator.

ELEVATOR

Along the way, medical personnel try to attach machines to her, but they all blow out from charges released by Sarah’s body.

NURSE
What else do we have?!

SOLDIER
Take her down to the 20th floor!

MEDICAL FACILITY

A staff is in place next to a machine with glowing lime green light flowing inside. They hook wires to her and her body begins to absorb the energy rather quickly. The lights inside the room flickered on and off until the machine is drained. Everyone stands by, waiting. Sarah lays still. Silence. Sarah’s body jumps just a bit as a beam of light-purple light zips across her face. More beams of light bounce across the room and the medical team has to leave.

SECURITY AREA

Shawn and Heather Johnson find themselves in the same holding cell their daughter was in earlier. Shawn is still bound, hands behind his back. He and Heather sit on a long, white bench, extending from the wall.

HEATHER JOHNSON
I envied you, Shawn. I wanted power, too. But I’m not a mutant. I don’t have any special abilities! You gave me something, as close as I’ll ever get.

SHAWN JOHNSON
Nothing else mattered, Heather. Nothing! I saw what I dreamed about. To be the most powerful…

Shawn presses his lips together. Heather slides next to him putting her arm around him.

SHAWN JOHNSON
But Sarah…

MEDICAL ROOM

Soldiers are being treated. Some even flashed a smile.

MEDICAL ROOM #2

Further down the hall, the X-Men are together again. Professor Xavier lays in a bed, hooked to machines, giving a faint smile to Storm, who is bandaged up, as doctors walk away. Cable is being bandaged up by a military doctor, while Bishop stands nearby looking at new gadgets presented by Forge. Jean Grey lays in a bed smiling and crying. Cyclops, though scarred, embraces her as they look at a monitor she is hooked to. Beast points out stats on the screen showing evidence of the baby being alive and well within her womb.

Psylocke stands next to Archangel smiling as she bandages his arm. She is already bandaged up. Iceman sits on a bench, holding his head as ShadowCat leans on his shoulder. Colossus stands over Nightcrawler, who is hooked to machines. Nightcrawler sits up in bed. He and Colossus embraced hands. Rogue and Gambit, like normal, sit together. Gambit’s arm around her shoulder, her arm around his waist. Faint smiles, but teary-eyed. Jubilee has begun helping Wolverine take bandage wraps “off” his arms. Underneath, he is perfectly healed.

SECURITY AREA

Shawn and Heather are smiling and crying, her arms around him. They look at a projection screen on the cell door to see Sarah’s smiling, cheerful face. Sarah quickly blows them a kiss and military personnel escort her away.

EXT. AREA 51 BASE – DAWN

The sun is rising over mountains in the distance. Magneto, QuickSilver, and Scarlet Witch are embraced together in a “group hug”. Magneto begins to back away and levitate into the air. Above the horizon, the huge form of Avalon is seen.

EXT. OUTER SPACE

No missiles are flying over the surface of Earth. No flashes of light from explosions are seen across the globe.

PROFESSOR XAVIER (O.S.)
The world has survived yet another war. Because the abilities of the human and mutant race were conquered by something even more powerful.
(pause)
Love.

The astronauts in the space shuttle are cheering and hugging.

Huge rays of sunlight wash over the Earth.

FADE OUT.
